  1. Well WotC tries to milk as much as possible its franchises (eg. excessive number of manuals), this means a lot of money commitment for the average player. I feel like it's a desperate move, but I may be wrong about it.
  2. 4th have WAY more number tables then 3rd. Like 10 times more. It's combat is longer and harder. 3rd was way too simple imho.
  3. That's because a lot of people HATE new stuff and needs a lot of time to assimilate (somewhat related to your persona as well). Also, if someone needs to write something about anything on internet, and is not payed to do so, 90% of the times will write about how bad that thing is. People who likes stuff usually don't go talking about it in forums, they enjoy it. 4th Edition is by far the most *fun* D&d I've played. I loved 2nd (mostly nostalgia now I think), HATED 3rd, never played Pathfinder but a friend of mine loves it so I'll eventually try it. 4th have some deep flaws (like balance between classes), but overall I feel like is a way better experience then previous D&ds. An example? Unlike 3rd, all the classes are NOT FORCED to pass their turns auto-attacking, every class have some interesting and unique actions\powers (a LOT of em) that makes character creation thousands times better and more engaging. One more thing I love about 4th is that they cut most of the rules from the *core* roleplay experience, leaving Master and Players a lot more freedom out of combat. I may be biased, but just go to any D&d forum and you'll find out that D&d 4th is deeply respected and loved by most.
  4. Full control but some characterization\limitation, like: a character can't use -few abilities -a school of magic. EDIT: I loved how it was in PST.
  5. In Starfarer (another RP game in development), random encounters and similar are random but predetermined, so if you rest, get an encounter, reload and rest again you always get the same encounter. Maybe a system like this would prevent rest scumming.
  6. They also didn't say how powerful auto attacking was for fighters. It could end up being very powerful or even too powerful, considering we'll be able to auto attack an unlimited number of times. I'm sure they know spells need to be balanced based on the system they are using. Guys if the spammable spells are in the order of magnitude of normal sword swings, what's unbalanced in that?
  7. Stop comparing BG2 magic to PE magic?!? We don't even know how powerful spells are in the first place and you say that the mages will be OP. Use your brain maybe?
  8. I want to point out that during the PE KS video you can see many concepts of characters that are now identifiable as: Edair, Cadegund in various clothes\armor, Aloth in various armors, someone with hairs similar to the wild monk dude in various clothes\armor, a female elf probably mage unidentified (character as well?).
  9. Yeah, thinking about it, I guess spells were what made the combat cool. Haven't played that gem in a while so I can't really say.
  10. You have a Tali avatar and are a known propagator of decline. You are beyond help. Don't touch my Tali! By the way, as far as I'm concerned, I'm in for every game that gives strong emotions (possibly with solid progression mechanics). I'm not used to nitpick on something at all, or at least until I have completed a playthrough. PST is the best game ever created (I loved its combat as well, go figure). So I guess I'm grouped up with the 99% of non-Codexian fans of the genre.
  11. I liked DA 2. I actually liked it better than DA:O. Come at me bro I wouldn't even touch you with a ten foot pole. It might be catching. I liked it aswell :3
  12. From the Q&A Question: Will the classes be extremely close to the old DnD style or are they going to have their own unique flavor? Feargus: They will have the DnD feeling but with some fun twists. In other words, not that there will be Paladins, , but if there were to be Paladins - they will feel like them but be tied into how magic and the gods work in the world of PE.
  13. I see a lot of people say: NO KILL IT WITH FIRE. Use your brain please? Aggro NEEDS to exist inside the game calculations otherwise kiting strategies are encouraged. Jeez.
  14. It's just Codex vs. The Rest of The World as always. Seriously snap out o it. PST and BG1 are my favorite games ever but I don't despise things happened after. Jeez.
  15. Paladins are warriors with some powers (and it was already stated that all classes will have soul powers). The thing about being lawful can be obtained in game as some kind of trait\faction. Every class have some sort of specialized source of power: Fighter - Melee Control Mage - Soul Powers Rogue - Stealth Priest - Soul Heal\Buff Monk - TBA (I guess Unarmed) Ranger - Track\Pet\Archery Druid - Nature Connection Barbarian - Melee Ferocity Cipher - Soul Control Where would a paladin fit? What is his source of power? I cannot understand Bards as well (they might be considered ciphers, so...)
