Why? If it fit's the setting why not? Do you something better to offer? Because there is a limited budget and it would be much better to have a great story and a lengthy gameplay time rather than two classes which only you want. If the 2.5mill stretch goal is hit, there will be 7 classes. That's more than enough for a game. It's not do or die. If it would fit the setting and the budget, then why not? Stealth Killing
l3loodangel replied to TwinkieGorilla's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
You could get most XP for completing the quest (killing the NPC, for example) and come crappy XP for eliminating low-level guards. If you didn't kill everyone in the castle, you could supposedly receive some XP for using the disguise, if successful (could be based on your skill). But sure, it is probably hard to implement, so most developers just force the player to slaughter everyone. That's a really awkward justification. Just increase the XP gain, for using stealth skills and Bingo. I think it's just one command line with ifs... The player will still lose the loot and money otherwise gained from killing +100 guards, but at least it won't hurt character development badly... -

Actually with only 187 responses to a biased poll doesn't prove anything. The fair poll with over 530 respondents had almost a 3:1 showing in favor of the romance option. A lot of people recognize a biased push poll when they see one and haven't bothered to add their input. A set of false choices makes for a very biased outcome. You are delusional if you believe, that romances won't cut some content out. It is the fair poll actually. For a LIMITED budget, by adding features you have to remove or downsize other features. People voted YES in previous polls, because they don't have the slightest idea that it will make other parts of the game weaker.

Stealth Killing
l3loodangel replied to TwinkieGorilla's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Ah, yes! That is something I've rallied for years for (disguises). New Vegas touched on it a little (and AoD looks to have an interesting take as well) bit but I'd love that to be a fully implemented game mechanic. I do realize that this may be asking too much but these are two things which no game has ever satisfied me with. I would only go for that it if would give same or more XP wise as killing all the castle, because sneaking option's are crappy XP wise. That's the other reason I never really use them. -

In some party-based rpgs you can select one character and go off on your own, no? Yeah, but it was never beneficial IIRC, as if you would get caught you would be alone vs. many. And not many things you could do actually... I think it works better in 1 player worlds like FO or AoD, because it's designed differently... Though in both games I expected much more. -

Yay. But it should be worth while, because in most RPG's sneak kills are either never need or a big obstacle, because some team members can't sneak... -

Dude that's a budget... Do you even understand how companies work? They can outsource people or they can hire people based on their budget! So telling that it should be used for writing or VO (the most expensive part) makes zero sense. I know it is made up, though the cost imo should be close to the truth, as VO, animations and etc. are expensive.
