Will the beta be NDA-protected?
There was a very brief mention about just "early access" in the KS Q&S thread, but this thread: (No comment on the NDA bit-- that was mainly to supplement Tale's post. Also, that post might've been before the beta key was broken out as an add-on, so the statement may yet be fluid about the "personal" access part and whatnot.)

Lichs
No. "Many"? You're projecting your personal desires way too much there. Also, there is no alignment. I can tolerate Obsidian adding a lich-like creature related to the soul mechanism in the setting, but not as a playable race (meh) nor the other things, really. I'd rather they not add vampires or zombies either, though the latter could work with the soul mechanism okay. ...Nah.

Humor. How much, where and what type?
I'd vote for humorous homage easter eggs. Subtle, hard to find--requiring exploration and sharp eyes into every nook and cranny of the PE world, items, NPCs. But that's it--nothing too much, too over the top; wit is far better than comic relief, especially in a game that wants to be more mature.

Make a wish for 3.6
As much as I'd love to see more companions, additional companions means less depth to the current stable--it's an inverse relationship between quantity and quality. PS:T only had 7 companions compared to BG2's 18 or so, but they carried significantly more depth. Also, unlike programming which can be spread horizontally across different groups, I'm leery about spreading writing across different people. Avellone wrote PS:T all by himself. Now there's Ziets, so that can help, but either Feargus or Tim did say somewhere that it takes around 3 months for Avellone to write a character, or something like that. The workload increases linearly when it comes to writing companion content. And now we have to consider what can be done with mods. There are certain things that are easier left to the modding community than added as a stretch goal. A toolset would be nice, but modders are quite capable in creating their own tools so long as the content data is kept transparent. So I will vote for a full orchestra with rare period instruments (hurdy-gurdy!).

I love Cloth Maps but, frankly, the one being offered is terrible
I thought it said 'The World' because they have yet to come up with a name for the game, or at least I remember that conversation somewhere. Kickstarter Q&A with Feargus, Oct 12 They're going to name it. Map is incomplete, a mockup. ....Personally, I want a Waterman Butterfly version!

Potions Suck and Here's Why
Potions and balance? Not a problem if the enemy AI is written to take advantage of it too. There--balanced. (Obviously doesn't work on creatures, but that can be balanced other ways. /shrug)

DPI Scaling for PE, much more important than resolution
I see good arguments on both sides. There's no way to truly take into account potential technology ten years from now and of course we have to consider Obsidian's resource limitation; perhaps there's a compromise point. Render for our current tech, but go just a bit further... up to what point is up to Obsidian's judgment by resources?

Underground Big City
No. Someone suggested this in a different thread too, and my feeling this would be a bad idea is the same: Mega dungeon crawls, while I like them fine, definitely aren't for everyone in a game of this breadth; many are looking for the broader exploration themes of BG. Locking a big city content behind an optional dungeon crawl isn't the best way to go about it. (And boss->loot mechanics can get boring for me, but I play an MMO on the side so I expect a whole lot more from PE.) Added: Tigranes' suggestion for an under-dungeon below the city would be nifty.

How much Grimdark would you like in your P:E?
Ieo replied to Death Machine Miyagi's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Darker and Edgier Meh. Along PS:T lines for me. I mean, I expect some darker themes as well, but there comes a point where "mature dark edgy!" from that trope becomes so ridiculous and then rounds the corner straight into boring for me. Consoles. ~Whatever~

Countdown to Eternity.
I was wondering how you knew they were updating. Magic! Say, huh.... what is that green monster head on the tier pictures supposed to mean? I never noticed it before...
-
Which tier did you choose?
Uh, it comes down to both what you can afford and what you really value in each tier. Asking someone else for their personal evaluation of priorities in a tier probably isn't going to be all that helpful for you... You're experiencing that sort of rolling enthusiasm that the retail industry likes, anyway. It's not about a "good deal." Can you pledge that much and want most of the things (or really want just one thing at the tier)? Will you regret it?

Immersive Journaling Concept
Ieo replied to RTWAP's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Characters Builds, Strategies & the Unity Engine (Spoiler Warning!)KILL DA:O CODEX WITH FIRE. A lore recording option would be nice and can be immersive (well, less meta-gamey) if attached to the quest/notes journal appropriately, so I'm in favor of that. Your idea for a better "unread" flag is a lot less annoying than DA:O's codex icons, certainly, and a filling-out map would be great, perhaps as a ToC of some kind. There's another idea, though. I'm not averse to finding a bunch of books and scrolls and keep notes on lore without a journaling mechanism--we're going to have a stronghold. One of those rooms should be a library!

Big City #2- 3.5mil. stretch goal
I'd actually prefer if the two big cities were not mirror images of each other (e.g. mostly slums vs. mostly high society). There are other ways to create differences without resorting to "opposite!" which feels cheap to me (e.g. dark elves, so caricatured): cultures and cultural expectations, laws, theocratic dictatorship versus monied oligarchy, different underlying popular religions, trade powers, underworld powers, racial makeup, etc. Metropolises by their nature are giant bell curves, so I'd expect some overlap. A family-run business Y in one city is going to have very similar concerns as another family-run business Z in another city, but perhaps Y has to worry about the theocratic police because their clientele is mostly from outlier populations and Z has to worry about gang activity.

Pen'n'Paper gaming in the Project Eternity world ?
They're releasing a lore almanac to help the PnP front, and they're considering adding other related PnP books later on (Kickstarter Q&A sessions with Feargus).

[Merged] Co-Op Multiplayer as some potential future stretchgoal?
Co-op games get played, but including in a single player game, yeah that's incredibly inefficient use of resources and not worth it at all. If they do co-op, it should be an expansion, stand-alone, with a separate campaign. Everybody should play Portal 2 and Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light co-op, that's some of the best gameplay you'll ever find. The best solution is to have a separate Kickstarter for each of those various minority things that people ask for in terms of high technical costs--console port, co-op mode. Let Obsidian calculate the amount of time and money would be necessary for each (e.g. expansion built ground-up for co-op) and see where the KS goes. Then if the target audiences manage to fund either, the mechanisms are already paid for and Obsidian doesn't have to worry about losses or stripping too much content. Those are all side projects, though.

Minimizing Save scumming. Or is it too much of a hassle?
I'm not even going to bother with the rest of your useless post since this statement illustrates your incapable frame of mind so completely. Whose game? Whose game? Oh, Obsidian's game? Oh, no, you mean that person's game, that guy who lives over five thousand kilometers from you? Hey, he seems to be enjoying himself, even with the saves and reloads. Ouch, he just reloaded again, but is that a grin? Looks like he's not ruining his game fun, wow! It's amazing! Players of a single-player game might actually enjoy playing in different ways! Imagine that. People like you who are so small-minded just flabbergast me. I'm sure you're so proud to give gamers and the gaming industry a bad name for being antisocial or sociopathic basement nerds. I'm glad that Obsidian isn't catering to such boneheads with the default setting.
