Countdown to Eternity.
Ieo replied to Loranc's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
I'm glad I'll be home from work in the next 1.5 hours so I can yell at the top of my lungs without bothering my coworkers. -
Live recorded music, Poll 2.0
Ieo replied to jerf's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
It's a small poll. Forum polls aren't very good scientific indicators at all, so don't get so fixated on that. You know, your post sounds just like those people who were against adding translations as part of a stretch goal. Notice, I said "part." The point of adding this to a stretch goal, just like the translations, is that the goal pays for itself. There is no waste. (At least, we hope Obsidian doesn't waste it.) -
But what about my position as the only fluffy thing on the Obsidian Order? Pretty sure you're the only marshmallow, if that's any consolation... I don't think that's going to last... A soon as someone bites Fluffle you'll have another weremarshmallow around... Whoa, after VICTIM bites Fluffle? Reverse weremallowism? That's.... kind of overpowered.

Live recorded music, Poll 2.0
Ieo replied to jerf's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Well, it's true, you did fail to understand the poll: 41 votes for no inclusion of live instrumentation 101 votes for some kind of live instrumentation 25 votes not caring Just for the top poll. Then you're just pointing out how biased this poll was? Thanks for showing us that. What was the bias? The break-out was suggested by Bell because small ensemble/solo is a lot cheaper than orchestral. A "no" option is clearly included. I'm just pointing out your failure to understand numbers. -

Described in the Update 25 thinger. You get an actual AMD A10 CPU without heatsink at $350, limit 30. I don't know anything about the chip, though (have an AMD hexacore already). Oh, and random Obsidian swag. Edit: Sucker sold out fast, too. -

Healing, In-Game Lore, and Mechanics...
Ieo replied to TCJ's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
This should probably go in the Gameplay/Mechanics subforum. So far, I don't believe Sawyer has described the rest mechanic in any detail just yet, nor is the stamina/health mechanic described in great detail beyond the initial proposal. I suppose soul could be tied in to help with the underlying health-healing part, somehow, since that's really the wild card in the lore system. -
NEW STRETCH GOAL!
Ieo replied to Loranc's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
I wonder if the site is being hammered. Keep trying? Went to add the cards and a shirt to my pledge and the confirmation page 404ed on me. Seems to have gone through okay though. I would like to take this opportunity to formally absolve myself of any guilt and disclaim all responsibility for any technical difficulties backers and viewers may experience during the close of the Kickstarter funding period: it was a joke, I swear.... -

NEW STRETCH GOAL!
Ieo replied to Loranc's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Aha, there we go. I wonder how the in-game commentary works. I'm perfectly fine for the extra funds to go towards polish. Excellent. Yay for live instrumentation. -

Let's party with Obsidian like it's 1999
Ieo replied to C2B's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Ah, 1999..... So, it's the end of the modern world due to massive computer and network relay failures with crashing public transit and airports shutting down? brb, getting a ton of shelf-stables and a shotgun. -
First off, what BG:EE does in its development has nothing to do with Project Eternity. Secondly, Obsidian has already been very clear that HID is important for their vision of PE as a proper old-school SP CRPG. And that means mouse, keyboard.

Romance and friendship?
Ieo replied to Krikkert's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
I don't know about MotB, but PS:T? Are you out of your mind? Unless you're talking about Deionarra, but that's a very special case and hardly a romance. Granted, I'm looking at the Fall-from-Grace aspect and despise Annah because she was added as obvious metagame fanservice, but the relationship with Grace was hardly central to the plot or anything. Just because YOU desperately want romance and fundamentally believe it is required for a "good" story hardly makes it so--it's subjective. I would not tolerate any required romance content into the central storyline. If Obsidian is going to implement romances, they should be treated as a true optional addition--it should not require concessions from non-romance companion content. That means, if we're talking about companion depth, then I would want a romance path to either-- (1) appear fairly early (as much as I hate that) and end up at 20k words, for example, parallel to equal 20k non-romance content that the romance path does not show, for fairness or (2) appear late after non-romance mature companion content is experienced (16k word), no more than 4k later content with an epilogue. -
Experience for Killing Enemies
Ieo replied to Jojobobo's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
Yes, this stuff gets spread out; I don't think polls can be combined, though, I dunno. I'll repeat just repeat my points from that thread and the update thread, though. Gameplay/Mechanics discussion thread. -
Wait wait--- I thought these weren't two separate things but the house was upgraded to the stronghold?

Romance and friendship?
Ieo replied to Krikkert's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Man, moving this thing to the general forum... Most of us do, there was a good poll that showed that most people wanted an element of Romance\Sex in the game. But there is a small and vociferous group that jump on every Romance discussion and say things like " No Romance, an RPG is not about Romance" and aarguments start and the thread gets closed. Now I am not going to say who is right or wrong, I support Romance/Sex, but I will not presume to tell you what defines your RPG experience by telling you " what an RPG is". This would be hubris, and who likes to be told they are arrogant? Actually, I don't believe you're right on the numbers. Besides the usual "forumgoers are a much smaller percentage of blah blah." There's a small number who desperately want romances in, and then a contingency on the other side. Most people actually have preferences but can go either way no matter Obsidian's decision, just with the hope that it'll be done tastefully and without sacrificing the non-romance content of a given companion.
