  1. If you can help it you do NOT want an unattained goal hanging there... unless you so ridiculously kept meeting goals it wasn't funny (again, like OotS.) Obsidian is already successful. Very successful. At this point, if I were them, I'd sit back and coast the last few days.
  2. I know I'll get smacked down if I mention those monsters that regenerate in D&D and have to be killed with acid or fire, but... yeah, I think we need some acid and fire.
  3. It's possible, but not likely. PE would have to outdo Double Fine's last 5 days NOW, and PE doesn't have a full 5 days left. I wish they could raise $5million... but it's going to be lucky to reach much above $3 million.
  4. I'd be happy with another big city as much as the next person... but I'd bet good money we aren't seeing $3.5 million. It is just not likely, end bump in pledges or no. I'll bet with you. And I have no doubt we'll make it. I'm curious as to what, other than sheer optimism, fuels your believe that this will happen.
  5. Supremely well played on Obsidian's part. If I was more of a masochist for wanting to watch people twist themselves into Romney-esque pretzels, I'd track down those day 3 people who complained that Obsidian didn't know what it was doing with it's Kickstarter and was failing.
  6. I don't want multi-classing. Make the classes interesting enough and adjustable enough to stand on their own. Anything even close to multi-classing I would want would be like the specializations in DA:O, though that wasn't the best way to go at all either. If there must be something outside of taking one class... the chosen class should be it, but there can be a sub-class option of some kind later in leveling. ONE choice to make (there can be more than one option, but you only get to "specialize" once.) Classes should be more than each level deciding which bag of tricks to pull from.

  8. He is *known* to most cRPG fans, but he certainly isn't a celebrity. So that doesn't surprise me, but I'm sure glad he's involved in the PE. The problem I have with it is to get word of mouth going you need coverage. *Who is George Ziets* in response to these articles. And then said rpg fans explaining *Well George Ziets is that guy who wrote that really awesome game*. Well hopefully, the updates so far reach attention again, after today's. The name isn't even well known in broader cRPG circles, to be honest. I didn't know the name until this project started and there were threads chanting his name. And I've been a huge cRPG fan since, you know, Bard's Tale and Phantasie were released.
  9. Probably not being a top-down-view turn based RPG, unlike the other two, they felt it wasn't a good candidate. Yeah, best not to confuse matters like Shaker by listing prominently games like Commander Keen and Doom while trying to sell yourself as an old school RPG maker.
  10. I thought an expansion as a $3 million dollar stretch goal would be good. But, the way it stands, the $20 add-on for expansions will effectively help boost the final tally to $3 million.... so, in the end, same result.
  11. Nobody knows the long term impact of Kickstarter funding, nor how a company can be based on making games using it. No one. Not even the few who have finished games (like FTL.) It's too new.
  12. MotB was fun and well made (for the rule set and the game engine, neither of which I'm a fan of) but I'm not as big a fan as some people on here are. That said, it had it's moments. Like standing on the corpse of a dead god of the dead. That's one of the rare game moments I'll probably never forget.
  13. I only just finished MotB like last week for the first time. Had that game and the OC unopened since they were released until sometime last year. Yeah, NWN left that bad a taste in my mouth, Obsidian or no. Glad I finally got around to playing them.
  14. While this wasn't my solution, it is what they did. So they must think it's the best idea.
  15. Son of a... finally finish Chapter 3.

  16. Monks and Psionics and Bards are all in the 1st AD&D Appendix A, I believe.
  17. Yeah, I think someone (Feargus, IIRC), said that they were thinking of having you unlock the ability to recruit more and more mercenaries as you progressed. Basically, you would be able to pick up additional mercenaries at the same rate as you encounter companions so that you wouldn't be overpowered for going with player-made mercs over story-based companions. It's also likely for story pacing. Most of these "pick up companions along the way" cRPGs use the gathering of the companions as part of the story, and having fewer characters at the start to ease you into mechanics before overwhelming you with 6 people to manage.
