KOTOR 2
eh, thats just a rumor. EDIT: and not in the "its kotor2" way either. Tho, I would expect that they have, at best, a loose connection. It would be hard to follow up the KOTOR story.

KOTOR 2
I would say, overall, that the movies are connected in one big story. That is the point after all. They don't stand seperate "overall". As for being serial, remember they are Episode 1,2,3,4,5,6. Not 1,2,3 and a,b,c. Ok, but by that logic, each movie should be able to stand (and be enjoyed) alone. Just like each game should be able to be enjoyed and stand alone. After all it can't be more than 20 or so year between episode 3 and A New Hope. Hell, it's ten years passed between episode 1 and 2, and the changes in main chacters is almost as great. Large time gaps arn't exactly unusual in these stories. Your looking at the time between episode 1 and 4 to get your 40 years as well. Which isn't a fair way to look at it, especially after you used the word "serial" (Serial: published or presented in installments or successive parts). You have to look at them from one to the next. Hence "Successive". If you are going to make a direct sequel, and alot of people seem to want that, then you HAVE to step on a few toes or the story would be much much to ambiguous. Even FO2 declared that the hero was male, statue in NCR, among other things. Plus, FO2 was about as "indirect" as a direct sequel gets. Not to say either of your above examples were great in the way they did it, but I just can't see hating something that I once liked, that in itself hasn't changed at ALL, just because a sequel comes out I don't like.

A KOTOR 2 romour
You did see the acting in Episode 1 right? If Anakin can use the force, not sure why a rock can't

KOTOR 2
You made the original referance to the "sequels". I though you viewed it from a episode 1 on kind of view Hence: Aliens was set 57 years after Alien but again, if you want to go by the book definitions, there are 2 main ones i have found. To be a sequel, it has to either a) come after the events of a previous story (edit: not nessasarily right after, or 10 years after) or B ) continue the story. The SW movies fit both. what are you talking about? No. If you want to keep that opinion for yourself, fine, but thats not the way it is. That arguement is just ....no. The movies are canon, not extended universe. You notice the people that happens to often take these things just a bit to seriously? ok, explain it. I have clearly outlined my arguement above a post or three.

KOTOR 2
One thing that should be pointed out is that KOTOR2 isn't seemingly going to be a direct sequel. From the rumors we have all heard, as that is all we have to work with, it won't have much to do with the people of KOTOR. It will be seperated from KOTOR by time and story. At least to some degree, if the rumors are to be believed. So since the LS ending is pretty much canon, its not like your going to have your beliefs of what events took place ruined. So whats the arguement then?

KOTOR 2

KOTOR 2
So you suddenly didn't have fun when playing the first game?
-
KOTOR 2
Tell that to DeusEX players ... I just can't get how a bad sequel would ruin the expirence you had with the first game, but I'm not one of those people that freak out if the story of the sequel tells the events of the previous game differently than I played them out. That doesn't make me feel like I wasted my time on the other game, I still had fun, after all. That is still the end goal, right? Having fun? So, if an altered storyline can somehow manage to "crush" your perception of a previous game and suddenly make it "not fun" in your memories....maybe you take these things too seriously? Other than that, I can't think of even one other arguement about how a poor sequel can ruin the previous game. If you enjoyed KOTOR, and KOTOR2 sucks, why would the expirence of KOTOR be changed? I can think of quite a few sequels that didn't stack up to the previous game, and they didn't ruin anything for me. When a sequel doesn't stack up to the original, it hurts my impression of the sequel, not the original. If anything, a poor sequel reminds me how good the original was. Now a sequel that is MUCH better than the original can make my impressions of the previous game change, as the benchmark has grown. I still remember how fun Legend of Zelda: Link to the Past was, but its not quite the amazing game I remember after I played Ocarina of Time. The benchmark was raised. Windwalker wasn't as good as those other two, but that only makes me remember those other two games with fonder memories. I don't suddenly think all Zelda games suck because a "sequel" wasn't as good as the previous game, even after I played Majora's Mask.* *The ranking of zelda games was personal opinion, but you get my point.

KOTOR 2
You have to be at least semi-retarded to think otherwise. I hope you realize you've made a semi-attack on anyone who doesn't instantly go "oooow it's KoTOR2" including those who wish to wait and see what is announced and those who are unsure. Be unsure or undecided all you want. In this case, it just doesn't make you the brightest bulb in the bunch. I guess VB wasn't FO3 either, right? Since it was never announced. But hey, if you don't think its KOTOR2, wanna bet?

LOSE THE F^_^ING CUT SCENES
O ya, forgot about that scene, that was kind of pointless. There wasn't a ton of those scenes tho, but the ones there were annoying. I remember when the mandalorians are fighting a wookie on kashyyyk (shadowlands, or whatever) and you get to stand and watch for a bit. That was another one for those scenes. Point being, if a cut scene doesn't really further something, then it IS annoying.

LOSE THE F^_^ING CUT SCENES
I disagree, I think story is very important in a good game. While its not a rpg, S2 suffers badly as a game because of lack of story (and repetitive missions). The combat is pretty good tho. It doesn't carry the game tho, imo. As for the part I quoted. When did that happen in KOTOR? Considering Malak was able just to freeze Bastila, I doubt you could have beaten him. You couldn't and shouldn't have been able to kill him. Just as you couldn't save Bastila. The cut scenes didn't f*** up that part of the game, the stupid fight with malak did. As I said, bastilla should have done her bit from the get go, while you escaped. At least then you would think Malak is one bad mama jama, not some push over.

LOSE THE F^_^ING CUT SCENES
If the story (Which wasn't anything terribly special) gets in the way of roleplaying, then you're a poor writer/game designer. No two ways about it. Using that logic, the story would suck everytime. The more freedom and options you give the player, the more the story tends to suffer. Maybe thats not a hard fast rule, but it tends to be the case. I prefer a good mix usually. I can't recall a cut scene in KOTOR that pulled me out of the game.

The truth on project X
You make him sound like the frog from the Looney Tunes/WB. You take him out fo the box and he starts singing and dancing.

LOSE THE F^_^ING CUT SCENES
Sounds kinda tedious to me. I think being able to kill Malak would badly hurt tha game. It would ruin the story if you did that. I think the cut scenes during that little bit were well done and moved the story along nicely. A good story matters alot to me. I do think malak being so easy was stupid. They should have skipped right to bastilla attacking him while you ran off. I don't think the actual fight with malak furthered the game much.

Princess leia's brass bikini
I remember that, I just forgot what the hell the things do (and what they were called). I was under the impression they don't create the force, but they are just present in greater numbers inside those that have the force. or something.

LOSE THE F^_^ING CUT SCENES
:::::SPOILERS::::::::: I like cutscenes, for the most part. They help further the story in ways that the player would miss otherwise. Remember the cut scene where you find out you were Revan? The player might have just skipped on past and attacked malak without ever knowing. They serve a purpose.
