I don't think that would stop a game from running though. Just make it look a little less than optimal. My monitor's NR is 1280*1024 but I run all my games in 1024*768. I get a little pop up notice from the monitor when I start a game telling me that I should change the resolution, but that's the only thing "bad" that happens.

That's the one DLC I haven't purchased and have no intention of doing so.

I'm trying but I really don't see the horrible writing in anything Bioware does. It seems pretty comparable to the writing in most games and better than some major titles that sell a lot of copies. Bioware may not be breaking new ground in dramatic narrative in games, but they're not doing anything so awful that it merits an eruption of criticism.

On a related note: Discovery Channel is starting a new series next week called Ghost Lab in which the team of investigators from Everyday Paranormal travel around the country invesitaging haunted locations in their state of the art traveling lab. Or something. Should be awesome! -
I see Michael Moore has a new movie out.

Could the delay be content related?
Slowtrain replied to lasthearth's topic in Alpha Protocol: General Discussion
I was under the impression that the safe houses are similar to the saefhouses in Bloodlines. And that the actual mission maps were fairly open and non-linear in the same way Deus Ex was. But that the dialog options were better than either. But perhaps I was just making assumptions based on what I hoped to see rather than what I actually saw and heard. Sometimes I get confused. -
Are you back for good? Or just briefly borrowing the internet again?

Could the delay be content related?
Slowtrain replied to lasthearth's topic in Alpha Protocol: General Discussion
Based on what we have seen it already appears to be as much an rpg as say Oblivion, in terms of dialogue and choices and what not. No open world or flaming swords, true. So maybe that was the problem. Or maybe no spaceships and aliens? hmmm. -

Not enough an rpg like: a)Fallout b)Fallout 3 c)Final Fantasy d)Baldur's Gate e)Divine Divnity f)Deus Ex g)Mass Effect h)Diablo etc and so forth. So which one? Cause they are all pretty different. My guess is that the comment should be read: Not enough like Mass Effect -

It's kind of funny when some person who probably has extremely limited exposure to rpgs, can authoratatively declare a game as not rpg enough, yet a message board full of hardcore gamers would never be able to agree on what an rpg is to begin with. I'm just glad to know that those in charge are so darn smart. It helps me sleep better at night. -
Don't bury Alpha Protocol

People will buy anything if you shove a product down their throats hard enough. -

What does not rpg enough mean? Not enough like Oblivion? -
lol. I remember all those TB vs RT arguments of bygone days. Can't say I really miss them but they were kind of fun. Honestly, Visc I never though I'd see the day when you embraced a RT FO.

The MP and the SP are the same, you play through the campaign like in D2, your buddies will be bots(I guess) unless some of your friends jump in and take control of them. That's how I understood it. Yes, I really should have said will sp be little more than mp with bots. Rather than against, since the mp focus appears to be coop play. The question is to me: is the gameplay focus on coop combat gunplay or is there something to the game beyond that.
-
I think there's a decent chance the multiplayer will be good. I don't know about the single player though. Will it be little more than mp against bots?
-
Ah yes. A space sim. I remember when game developers used to make space sims.
-
I agree with this, but bad writing is such an industry-wide problem atm, that I think it is really difficult to criticize any single developer as being particularly offensive. Certainly at the very least criticizing Bioware's writing while Bethesda's around seems pretty ludicrous.

So, Is this game delayed or not?
Slowtrain replied to TheWatcher's topic in Alpha Protocol: General Discussion
That would be so much fun. Still, I doubt this is the case. Allow me the indulgence of my fantasies, plz. -
Yep. Evil Dead 2 is by far the best. I'm not really overly fond of either the first or third at all really. 2 is a classic though.

Just started in on CHapeter 4 of the Witcher.

Hopefully, it means that SEGA was mostly impressed by what AP is showing now, and sent it back for some additional polishing and sizzle because they want to give it a big push as one of their major releases next year. If Sega hated the game and just wanted to get rid of it, they'd just push it out the door, earn what they could, and forget about it. -
I'd save yourself the hassle and just call the tech support. If they know what they are doing and are helpful, then you've got no problems. I was running two Nvidia cards SLI. One went bad and it caused me all sorts of problems. I eventually had to take them out and start swapping things around to see where the problems were. In the end I replaced my two midrange Nvidia cards with one pretty high end ATI card. WHich I should have done in the first place. Personally I think running 2 cards in place of 1 is a PITA and unless you have some obscure fetish for super high resolutions, I don't see the point.

I would reverse that and say that the combacy tactics were dictated by personailty type. Myron the wimpy scientist had distinctly different settable combat options, mostly variations of "Piss trousers and run", from Sulik. My statement was more along the lines of, the combat personalities were dictated by the options you set in their tactics and whatnot. That is, if you could set Vic and Cassidy to the same thing, they'd behave identically in combat, despite personality differences. We're both just saying the same thing. Gotcha. And yeah, that would probably be true, though there was quite a bit of variation, on what options were available for each player character and also how effecdtive they were within those parameters. You could set both Cassidy and Myron to some sort of similar attack from range thing but Cassidy would blow the crap out of people while Myron was still pretty useless.
