Activision CEO wants to take all the fun out of making games

lol. Either that. Or more often, they made the mistakes which resulted in the need to swing the axe at somebody. Which is always the best position for the one that made the mistakes to be in. Mistake maker and axe swinger. Rarely does the axe one swings land on one's own neck. Even if it should. -

Management and stretgeic planning is generally far more incompetent than the day to day hands on employee. When a business fails or experiences problems its not because of the guy sweeping the bathroom floor. It's because somebody in a big office did something stupid. Probably many stupid things. Invariably though, the axes always fall on the wrong necks. -
The Witcher is one of the few games I've played that actually has a complex and interesting narrative mixed with a nice dose of optional things. It is a game, completely the opposte of Oblivion and FO3, that hugely rewards speaking with people.

The Witcher. My 3rd time through. Each time I play this game I think more and more highly of it.
-
Nope. It's another game genre that next gen development had all but killed in its lemming like pursuit of Wow clones, Diablo clones, Halo clones etc and so forth.
-
I don't think its a terrible game. But its hardly a shining beacon of rpg-goodness. Frankly, if people pick up the Fallout trilogy, instead of Fallout 3, they are probably getting three better games. For less.
-
QUite. Oblivion was this apocaylptic dive into the abyss of awfulness. Nobody could have expected that after Morrowind. WHich wasn't a great game and had problems, but still... Fallout 3 was something of a recovery.
-
Master of Orion. The game by which all others are judged and still unsurpassed after all this time.
-
Fab game. One of the best TB strat games ever. I still have my CD from years ago. DId the developers ever continue on with their follow-up? LAst I heard they had basically stopped worked because no one would pick it up for any sort of publishing deal.

Much as I dislike almost every Bond movie Moore ever touched, Diamonds are Forever plays like some weird soft-porn drug-addled comedy skit. Its pretty darn bizarre. I do like For Your Eyes Only though. Moore's only decent entry. I know a lot of people like The Spy Who Loved Me, but I found it pretty overlong and tedious.

Funny. FO3 is already pretty subpar.
-
Given the popularity of FO3, NV should be a slam dunk to make gobs of cash. I would imagine most of that is going to Bethesda, but Obsidian should do well enough given the meagbucks the game will bring in. Even a small bit of that will be a tidy sum.
-
Though Connery starred in what I consider the three best Bond films, he also starred in what I consider the worst: Diamonds are Forever.

My stealth pisol shots were always made undetected. If I was detected I switched to the standard 10mm.

Hitboxes are kinda off, I think you had to aim at the top of their head. Funny enough, melee weapons had to be aimed between the scapulae for one-hits. heh. If that's true it might be the answer to one of my personal big DX puzzles: why some weapons got instant kiills from headshots only some of the time. Sometimes I would get instanrt kills on MIBs with the stealth pistol head shot; other times I wouldn't. I assumed that it was because there was some random damage factor that was applied, not simply a constant specific damage. I, of course, was always aiming for the center of the head wherer the area was widest. SO if the hitboxes were off then it's possible that the times I got the kills was when I hit the top of the head (unintentionnaly) instead of the middle. Now I have a inclination to install it and find out.

The train fight in FRWIl is pretty great. One of the more flat out brutal sequences in a Bond film. The early Bond films have a hard edge to them that somewhat disappears in the later Connery and after films. Early Bond films play much more like the contemporary Bourne films unlike the later goofy lighter Bond films.

Tranq darts are ridiculously effective. Most guys just need a single one to take them down. You just need to wait until the dart has done it's work. If you can hide out of sight, the enemy has no chance. It's easily my preferred weapon for the first couple of levels. Also, if you have a high skill and hit them in the head, JC can sometimes drop most enemies in one shot with the tranq darts. Not MJ12 commandos, I don't think. But everything up to and including men in black. It also works underwater. Great weapon. To be clear, you can drop them in one shot pretty much regardless of where you hit them. You just need to wait for the tranquilizer to put them to sleep. MJ12 commandos are resistant to the poison effect so it's useless on them. Yes, sorry but i wasn't clear. I meant the tranq darts can sometimes result in an instant "kill", no running around as the tranq does its thing. In all my playthoughs of Deus Ex, I was never able to figure out how to make those instant drops happen intentionally though.

Eh...I think From Russia With Love is a better film, to be honest. The finale of Dr. No always plays goofily to me (and Quarrel's death works worse on screen than it does in the book). I can't argue. I think Goldfinger, From Russia with Love and Dr. No. are all great. Most other Bond films I am pretty meh about.

Dr. No. The first Bond and the best Bond. No gimmicks or bad jokes just a solid spy movie. Holds its own against all them newfangled Bourne movies and stuff despite being what 40+ years old now?

All human beings employed at companies waste some time. No one is 100% productive. And that most definitely includes management and all the people in charge. I've seen more wasted time in plush offices than by people pusing the brooms around in the hallwaays. -

I remember reading somewhere that it takes on average three years to make back the costs associated with hiring and training a new employee. So a rapid employee turnover for a company means they are simply shoveling money out the door. -

A lot of people probablty consider working in game development a dream job, so they are probablt willing to take more abuse. Fpr a while. Buit even dream jobs cab get old pretty fast if it is a bad enviroment, There's a cafe down the street from me that turns over its entire staff on what seems almost a monthly basis. I don't know what's going on there, but it can't be a very good place to work. I rarely go there anymore, though it is very close to where I live because the service is always slow and the drinks poor. Because the staff doesnt known what they are doing. Instead I walk a few blocks further to another cafe where the same satff has been working fora long time and they are quick and efficient and know what drinks I like and how to make a good espresso without being told. A well trained, skilled, and happy employee is any companies greatest asset. It alwasy amazes me how shortsighted employers can think they are saving a few bucks by treating their staff badly. -
Captain Haddock is the freaking ****. On a related note: the [iNTELLIGENCE] thing just doesn't get old. It still makes me laugh.

If you hate your job because it is oppressive and totally focused on generating X dollars/hour worked, all you're going to generate when you work is hate. ANy worthwhile company worls hard to develop and maintain an extremely positive environment for their employees. Because ultimately that makes more money and success than whipping them with chains.
