Planescape: Torment Topic
I didn't particularly like PS:T (and I was one of the few who actually bought the game when it was ogriginally released) but I respect the game for what it does and what it tried to do. Still on my list of enjoyable crpgs it rates pretty low. Actually it doesn't even rate at all. I think PS:T would have been far better served by cutting the combat and the leveling and the huge number of stupid fetch quests and by just concentrating on being an adventure game with a story and puzzles.

Borderlands
That was the first Borderlands trailer that didn't impress me. Seemed pretty generic shootery stuff.

So thats why I never understand modern art! They are all work in progress! Meh, I wouldn't know art even if it would come and paint me green. With abstract figures. I'm not saying it is or it isn't. I'm just pointing out that looking at a finished object and pointing to it and saying "art" or "not art" is not the only way to attempt to figure out what art is.

I might make the argument that art is a process not a result and as such cannot be evaluated simply as a end product.

Yeah, but so do half the regular discussion topics on the internet. The other half take the circuitous route. Everything on the internet goes to hell eventually.

This... You can't compare Picasso with Van Gogh, can you? Well I'm thinking more you can't compare Van Gogh with someone's fur fetish doodles on deviantart--both art, but in widely, widely different degrees. SO you are saying that the word "art" always requires additional specificity? So pop art, commercial art, fine art etc and so forth? That the word art is itself so all encompassing that it has no real meaning?

Planescape: Torment Topic
Yeah, maybe, But what is art? That's the bigger question and discussions of it never go anywhere.

That and Peter Molyneux. He hasn't changed his tune in 20 years. AFter a while you stop listening.

Who says that? 12 year old kids who are playing Oblivion?

Alpha Protocol DLC?
Only if you're retarded. 1-2 hrs is more accurate.

What are you playing now?
QUite a few hours actually. I usually play games right before I go to bed. So if a game is boring, I usually nod off pretty quickly. On the other hand, if a game is good I sometimes end up being awake far too late. :/

Emotion and games. sadness and character attachment
You aren't attached to any of the Jagged Alliance Mercs? Razor and Haywire always make me smile. SOme of their lines make me laugh, but I wouldn't quite call it emotional attachment, I don't think.

What are you playing now?
My character used to die in Oblivion because as they were running along I would fall asleep in my chair and they would run off a cliff. I'm not kidding. Most boring game ever.

Dragon Age Origins
Not quite. Oblivion runs away with that award.

Emotion and games. sadness and character attachment
I must be playing the wrong games.

Borderlands
Yup. That's my major concern. I have no real interest in multi-player games anymore, so unless the game has a reasonably strong single player component as well, in the end I won't be interested.

Borderlands
That wasn't lame. That was freaking awesome. If the sense of style and humor that has been showing up in these trailers comes throughi n the game, the game is going to be the greatest thing ever.

Don't worry, Aristes. I didn't take what you said badly, I was just responding. Just because I criticize Fallout 3 doesn't mean that I don't like it. As a matter of fact, I do like it to some degree. With some more work FO3 could have been a very similar game to STALKER:SOC which is one of my personal faves and that would have been awesome. More than anything else that is the game I'm disappointed that FO3 didn't come closer to.

I don't know if this was directed at me, but just to make it clear I'm not sayign Fallout 3 needs to be like Fallout. Really I don't care if it is "like" Fallout or not. I'm using Fallout as an example becasue it's an example of a well designed crpg. Which is something that FO3 is not.

edit: Double post. sry.

In Fallout 3 though, there are no random encounters, period. Not in the fast travel sense. WHich is very different from Fallout. If random encounters were removed from FO fast travel, the weight of combat in FO vs FO3 would be even more heavily unbalanced.

What are you playing now?
I've read that the Steam version of JAg 2 is somewhat buggy. It's missing files or something. That's not based on any personal experience though. Just wha tI've read at places like Bear's Pit.

What are you playing now?
It's been so long since I played 1.07/1.12 that I can't remember what it was like.

Unless you can right up behind them prescisely opposite the shooter. Then they are almost perfect cover. Until the shooter moves.
