  1. Great Lake Swimmers - I Saw You In The Wild
  2. You should be a private eye, funcroc. It's like legalized stalking.
  3. He was also in Sleuth, Children of Men, The Quiet American, The Man Who Would Be King, Alfie, Quills, The Prestige and Batman Begins.
  4. The SP game in S.T.A.L.K.E.R. is fine as it is, so why would they release further patches for it? @Tale: Your friend is an idiot?
  5. I know, that's what I usually do. But two settlers in a row? C'mon.
  6. I just got pottery and two settlers from my first three goodie huts in CIV! WTF!?
  7. Daggerfall was quite impressive for its time and a step in the right direction, even if it had too many flaws to be considered a great game. It was also ugly as sin, and catastrophically buggy. Morrowind on the other hand is game that "fixed" what was good about Daggerfall, and kept the crap as a central gameplay feature. Oblivion, I'd say it's a slightly better Morrowind.
  8. Portugal is one of the best places to go out to eat in the world. Quite cheap, and quite good eating too. Seeing as I'm now working from 5 to 10 PM, I haven't really cooked of late. That last thing I actually cooked was scrambled eggs with onions, and cheese, seasoned with oregano, salt and black and white pepper.
  9. Your average, run of the mill, FPS involves shooting, and nothing else. HL, Doom, Serious Sam, Medal of Honor, UT, Painkiller, Prey, Quake, FEAR are all about the shooting. From what I saw Crysis has stealth, an open ended world, melee, and poultry weaponry. Seemed above average to me.
  10. From what I saw of the demo, it offered better, deeper gameplay than your average FPS.
  11. 256 variable.
  12. It's enough for the game to consider me a Caesar Augustus. What's up with that?
  13. Mostly conversions from CD. Anyway, after some testing, apparently the size change ranges from a bunch of megs larger to one or two megs smaller than the originals. With this in mind, I'm just going to give up and leave things as they are. I still have 500 Mbytes free on my player, anyway.
  14. I've used it as well. In fact, some of my mp3 were encoded with it. I didn't really see much of a difference, though.
  15. 1.51
  16. I'm compressing them to 256kbps with a variable bit rate, so that shouldn't make a difference. Or should it?
  17. I was converting my 320kbps mp3 files to 256kbps to save some space when I see that the converted 256 kbps files come out larger than the original files. What gives? I'm using CDex with LAME.
  18. If it's not science, why should it be taught in science classes?
  19. Well, he enjoyed playing it like that a great deal and he was an HL fan. And HL was competent, not brilliant. *pokes bear*
  20. It was a game on Chieftain that I just started to get a quick fix, so that I would work afterwards. That didn't go according to plan. It was really easy and pointless of course, given the very low difficulty. Details: Small Pangaea, Suryavarman II was my Civ, Ragnar declared war on me once, and lost his entire attacking army with that little prank. Cultural victory around 1900. 15000 points. It's really easy to get high points in Civ IV. If I won a similar game in Civ 1, I'd get a Dan Quayle rating.
  21. How big are Obsidian's installations? Also, when will the general public be able to see that movie on Game Informer's page?
  22. All of those character stories you've described are just daytime soap opera quality stories. At best. It's like gamers allow game stories to pass through go and collect 2000$ just because they're game stories. Anyway, I'm not saying that shouldn't enjoy whatever plots they want, or that most writing in other mediums isn't as bad or worse. What I am saying is that these kinds of plots shouldn't be made more of that they actually are, and that gamers shouldn't lower their standards just because everything else is so crappy. A similar thing happened with HL, just because the story wasn't told through the readme as was usual in previous FPSs.
  23. That's because he can run it.
  24. What, VI? I can see how it was much better than the competition at the time in terms of character development, but it was still pretty dire. That "Terra can kill again" bit in particular, still makes want to do bad things to Square's writers. And as for VII, take away the FMVs and what you've got is a big fat zilch. I'd like to see if all those FFVII fans would've cried for Aeris if the whole thing had been done with FFVI's engine.
