  1. Am I reading this right? There's a patch? For Xbox?
  2. You need to unlock them first. Once unlocked it will equip itself. You van activate them with the corresponding button. I have ps3 version, ( Triangle or circle). I have unlocked at least three abilities. I think one is healing, though, or defense. If they auto equip, I will play awhile longer to see if more equip. Thanks. Press the left trigger and you will see your defensive abilities.
  3. i came on here this evening to post this exact thing..after a week of playing sp i went over my friends today to show him the game and to try out the mp..the camera game us so much trouble we quit in frustration trying to beat a boss..no telling how many times he or i died due to the cheap camera..its completely ridiculous..and no one can tell me that obsidian werent aware of this when they shipped the game..they cut a lot of corners on the mp side of this game.. Well, by all accounts Obsidian still aren't aware of the camera problem. There's been no word from them since the European launch. I know they're reading the forums from looking at the user list, so hopefully they're working on something. I hope. I speculate.
  4. AFAIR the M&M-games I-IX were never "turn-based" per se; initiative, speed etc. determined a character's turn. But perhaps you didn't notice that. And of course - the game changed over time. From 6 - 8 party members the group shrinked to 4. But nevertheless, the player had full control over them. I agree - there were simplifications in the later sequels in regard of skills, but never down to a level which would nowadays be called "dumbed down". But still - all sequels were full scale RPGs, with nice playtimes (50 hours+), with an abundance of items and stuff and the possibility for individual party development. Thus, no party was like the other. Tons of quests and sidequests, many towns, no level cap (at least I never came close) and... and... and You think, that the example is "weird"? I don't care. Erm, can you check your quote please? I didn't say that, I think you meant to quote C2B!
  5. I'm not banking on anything until we hear from the devs. Sounds like they're working on patching the PC at the moment.
  6. Not to mention the companion AI standing still in an enemies damaging aura. This made some boss fights near impossible.
  7. Different coding for different OS's I guess.
  8. Only the minority of the advertisments was co-op related . And even then it never really focused on online co-op but buddy co-op with your friend. Still it was a little misleading especially close to release date. Also while I get the complaints regarding the mechanics beeing changed from the first two games..... these examples are all complete gerne changes. I mean... DSIII is still a hack n' slash/ARPG. Its not like I'm suddenly playing a first person shooter/action game or a strategy game or anything else. Also M&M changed its mechanics quite a bit over its entries and went from fully turn-based to realtime. It didn't change as much as in DSIII but its still a very weird example. Oh. The adverts I've seen have all been largely co-op based, just my luck I guess. TBH, I think the control system is vastly improved from the previous games. It may be lighter on the customisation side, but the other games pretty much auto-played.
  9. I couldn't see were to reply, but on further investigation of this game, I found this which sums it up completely for me; thats awesome...obsidian deserves every shot thats taken at them over the mp..i hope now they truly regret the decision to do it the way they did.. "Together we're stonger. But it's more fun on your own."
  10. Probably not the first. But there should/could be something coming. The devs have been really quiet since release. I'm hoping they're busy patching and not on a cruise somewhere!
  11. Always nice to see positive bugs!
  12. Weird. It has the hallmark of an overheat, but it's strange that it's localised to DS3...
  13. I try to give you an example: Years ago, the "Might & Magic" series was a big brand. Whenever there was a number behind "Might & Magic" (from I to IX), the gamer knew, that this is a sequel to the R P G-series, in other words: The player could be certain to receive exactly that what the name suggested: A full scale role playing game following the tradition of it's predecessors. Then there were the other "Might & Magic"-games: Heroes, Crusaders, Warriors, Legends, Dark Messiah etc.; all with the "... of Might & Magic" in their titles. Now the customer knew, that these games will be different from the R P G-series, what they were, indeed. These "offsets" were liked and disliked, but noone complained about being intentionally mislead by a package with a brand's name and totally different content. And here is OBSIDIAN's lapse: If they would have called it "DS III: The 10th legion", I guess, you would see 50% less complaints on all boards worldwide. But they didn't. I don't think the co-op featured advertisements did them any favours either. If this had been advertised as a normal, single player ARPG with an extra mode for co-op, then that would have likely made a difference too.
  14. If you have a look through the forums, you'll find that it's a pretty hot topic at the moment. A lot of people are hoping for some kind of announcement from Obsidian that they're working to patch it for perpetual characters and fix the shared screen/tethering. Personally, I'm just bashing through the single player. The multiplayer seems a little pointless, unless you have a committed group of players that you will always be able to play with.
  15. After playing a good bit more this is what i've come to realize. The problems aforementioned are just minor problems. The camera could use tweaking, but its not something that requires a total overhaul. From my very few programming experiences, camera angles and things like lighting are tangible objects that can be easily altered once the game world already exists. So if its as simple as changing some code and moving an object a bit, I don't see why the camera can't be tweaked. Basically it just needs to be altered so you retain the single player camera, and not force you to see what your partner is doing. Tethering to the same area is fine, just don't force us to have to see our buddy. But as my other thread states, my official request list is A: Tweak MP loot to balance out characters in MP, B: Tweak the camera, C: New Game+. I really want this game to continue, and i'd love to run through its lengthy campaign on an even harder difficulty with my mastered character (not to mention having even more epic loot). Patch in those 3 things, and this game gets a 9.5/10, possibly a perfect score from me as I can't find anything else wrong with it. (Oh and its gorgeous on the Xbox, and the controls are flawless). With you there. I'm coming up to the end now, and feeling a bit gutted that my mega Lucas will have no further use!
  16. You could be right. I'm hoping for the devs to start commenting on this soon. Until then, everything is speculation.
  17. Realistically, I don't think that will happen with DS3. It would probably take a complete rework of the core programming to do this. Zooming the camera out should be easy enough for a patch, though. Maybe the independent camera could be implemented if Obsidian decide to make an expansion.
  18. Surely game stores dropping their prices is to make for more sales? If XXXX sells DS3 for
  19. The best bet for a patch is just to have the camera zoom out further, allowing for more movement and this also allows players to see when enemies are coming and plan their attacks. Realistically, I think that's probably all that can be done in a short amount of time.
  20. Yep, looks like zooming out further is the simplest option. This should be easiest to implement into a patch. TBH, I only really with my fiancee, and am not one to join random games, so I'm not that fussed about perpetual characters. Simply being able to move a liitle more freely would help a great deal.
  21. Thanks, it's been a while since I had nightmares. That's one of the ugliest elves I've ever seen. I don't remember DA2 looking that crap, though. Unlucky screengrab?
  22. Diablo 2. But that has been thrown around here already. The MP issues would be remedied already when the camera issues could be fixed and if possible non-tetherd. As far as persistant co-op goes I'm the opinion that it just isn't worth it since there is not really any persistent MP focused content to speak of. Expect maybe if a expansion pack/larger DLC focused on that but that is A: Unlikely B: I'd rather see it in a DSIV I think you have a great point there. The camera system is definitely begging for a fix, but perpetual characters should wait until they can be implemented properly. I'd love to be able to use my character online, but thinking about it, what fun would it be to have a maxed out character running around in a beginner's game? That of course isn't to say that perhaps hosting options could remedy this.
  23. I actually made the mistake of watching it. I really liked the comment about 'outdated' graphics the reviewer made. Besides the fact that they rated Uncharted 3's graphics higher than BF3's for this year's E3, they're going to give Modern Warfare's graphics a better score than DS3's. Not to hate on the id Tech 3 engine, but anything built on it, still looks like a game from 2001. Hell, DA2 got a better score for its graphics than DS3. The pictures speak pretty clear. I think we can all agree at this point that GT never knew what the hell they were talking about, when it comes to graphics, gameplay and video games in general. Yep, that's a pretty ugly comparison!
  24. So, I've been mulling over thw whole MP/camera issues that a lot of us have been having. Supposing Obsidian could pull off a patch that would remedy this, has it ever been done in a game before? I mean a patch that pretty much completely alters an aspect of a game? Just wondering as a lot of you have undoubtedly more experience that I do regarding this. Any ideas on this?
