  1. What do you mean? Whether this one is true to the series? TBH, I wasn't a huge fan of the originals. I played Dungeon Siege for quite some time, but I wasn't so taken with the sequel. Kind of wish I could go back and play them again, but I think the memory might serve me better.
  2. I'd like to see a quest pack. Some meaty dungeon crawls and loads of hidden chests. Not too fussed on dialogue and character development. I wonder how long it would take to create some new dungeons using assets from previous ones?
  3. I haven't finished it yet. Got to Stonebridge and realised I'd made some bad decisions with Lucas's levelling, so I restarted. Still loving it. I couldn't agree with you more about the dungeons. They are fantastic.
  4. Admittedly, DS3 is definitely a console game. I might have been disappointed if I had this on PC. As it happens, this kind of game is pretty new to Xbox, so I guess Im still appreciative to get a decent old-school RPG on console.
  5. Do you think that a lot of the comments about multiplayer might have something to do with how DS3 was advertised?
  6. Here are the points I've found apply to co-op DS3, please bear in mind that this is only my opinion: POSITIVE local co-op or two-player online co-op is fine, as long as you only use the saved game when playing with the same person again shared gold can lead to some interesting debates over player's shared inventory the AI is adept enough to take over if one of you needs to take a break the enemy difficulty seems to adjust well having other players suggstions during dialogue is a nice touch NEGATIVE more than two players is very restricting, especially during later boss fights. If the host moves too far away, other players are teleported closer. Not so great if the host is fond of using Lucas's dash attack the camera doesn't adjust well to multiple players joining another player's game isn't great for player's who get accustomed to their inventory and abilities. You can re-level your character on joining, but the inventory can become frustrating
  7. Saying that an apple sucks because it's not a watermelon and then criticizing the watermelon producers for not catering to your personal tastes is not particularly valid criticism. It would be like me going on the Blizzard forums to complain that Diablo 3 isn't Planescape:Torment. The only thing you could honestly complain about is the use of the IP. It's not a question of difficulty. it's a question of limited development time and money. Supposing then that a majority of players weren't buying the game or unhappy with it because of the co-op. What are the chances of the developers improving the experience? Surely Square Enix would want to maximise their sales?
  8. Well, that would involve someone I know who owns the game instead of randoms on the internet, now wouldn't it? Might sound a little sad but I don't exactly know anyone else who owns the game. Nope it wouldn't. Having a persistent save of your own character doesn't have to involve anyone else at all. It just means you would have a save of your version of Lucas to play in single player, or multiplayer if you CHOOSE. Also a persistent character save makes it easier to play with randoms and meet new friends to play the game with because you have your own version of Anjali and if you don't like the group you are with you can leave and find another group until you meet some cool new mates to games with (it's really not that hard I promise, a lot of gamers are actually *gasp* really cool and I've met some great folks on Xbox Live). our own version of the character would let you host or join a game and never lose progress on your character. Alas, I don't think persistent characters are going to happen for this game. I'm all for it, but the attitude from Obsidian seems to be "just because you don't like it doesn't mean someone else won't enjoy it". I started a poll about this a while ago, but no-one responded to it. It seems to be a 50/50 split on the persistent character idea.
  9. Sounds like we'll pass, or wait for it to be discounted then. My wife gets attached to her game characters, and I don't blame her, when you look at the time you invest in playing a game. If it can be done even in things like modnation racers, there's just no excuse for not doing it in a dungeon crawl. What the hell were they thinking? Imagine a whole family at home, two parents and 2 kids who want to play together. You KNOW they kids will be attached to their characters. Maybe they'll add it in a later patch. It's fine if you're playing locally with just two players. When the second player joins, they have the options to level their character how they see fit. The problem is if you play that saved game on single player, then you may sell items or change abilities of the other player that they may not like. It is a bit weird that the second player can't load up their character, but Obsidian seem to see this as a unique feature that stops over-leveled characters ruining a beginner's game.
  10. With regards to this, people are being quite respectful as far as complaining is concerned. Almost everyone who has commented about the co-op has done so in a pretty practical and constructive way. And only a few trolls are hate posting because of it. On the whole, it sounds to me like people are very happy with the game, but players just see the decision to have this mechanic in a ARPG a little odd and that seems fair enough to me. Personally, I think playing with two local players is acceptable, it's just online where it suffers, especially if you don't have any friends that play.
  11. Very true Indeed lol... With you there.
  12. I play as females, especially in DS3. They play completely differently to the male classes. I also think that the cleavage-revealing female attire is a well established fashion of the fantasy genre.
  13. Is there a demo for the 360 version in Europe now, then? I know North America had one, but we didn't see it unfortunately.
  14. Really? I got just over 10 (elapsed time, I did it in one sitting haha) and also got the perfectionist achievement... I'm thinking the longer time is quite possibly by people who can't understand boss tactics and sit there dying over and over? and yes before you ask I did listen to all dialogue, it really annoyed my brother that I did that haha. Sorry if I missed this somewhere, but what difficulty are you playing at?
  15. I didn't like DS2 very much at all. I played the first one when it first came out and really enjoyed it. DS3 is a pretty good game, and is so far pretty bug free. I am playing on the Xbox, though. Next to Oblivion and Dragon Age, this is one of the better RPG's available on the 360.
  16. I hope the americans read this forum before shelling out money on this title if their intent is to enjoy it in co-op mode. For single player the camera is still annoying, but you can get used to it. When player Co-op however you are pretty much forced to play either as melee, or as ranged in order to have any sort of tactical freedom. Forget about dashing with Lucas' 2h ability, because chances are you'll go off screen and get warped back to the host. I'd hate to think how it is with 4 people playing. So all you americans reading this before buying - Make up your mind regarding this title. If it's a single player experience you want go for it! But till Obsidian fixes the camera for Co-op play I would not advice getting this title. I would get my money back if Steam allowed it with the current setup. I have just experienced four player co-op. I'd be pretty hacked off if I hadn't bought this primarily for single player. With two players online, you can just about get by. Four players, though? Forget about it.
  17. Persistant data isn't important to my friends and me. But Obsidian really really needs to fix the camera view point in co-op mode. No if's or but's on that one. I see why now. Before I only played with one other person and that was tolerable. I just tried a game with four players and you can barely move!
  18. I'm curious to see how many of you are happy with the co-op experience. For me, I can just about accept the shared screen thing (with two players), but what of the character data? To me one of the important aspects of an RPG, even if it is an ARPG, is to maintain and upgrade your character.
  19. So they are! Guess I'm used to help sections in menus being redundant. Fair play, the help system in DS3 is pretty comprehensive!
  20. I didnt play the demo or go trawling around looking for interviews. Even if I did play the demo it wouldnt have changed anything. I'm not saying its buggy or a crap game on single player, but single player is not what I bought it for. Its usualy a safe bet that if you've played all pervious version as co-op only when you buy the next you get an improved version not this. And co-op isnt a bonus its a requirment since they advertise it as co-op so I'm paying for the ability to co-op. Its not being demanding and I would complain no matter the company that develops it thats just an odd comment, why would anybody not complain just because of who developed it? odd. Anyway, take a look around. If it was just me complaining I could maybe see your point but its pretty obvious its an issue. If you dont think so then fair enough, everybodys opinion can differ so go and enjoy the game. For me, its on hold indefinately in the hope that my 2 licences wont go to waste and they will develop it further to bring it up to scratch. You have a point. DS3 was heavily advertised as co-op in all of the marketing. It is a let down, but I'm very happy with the single player. I sincerely hope there's something that Obsidian can do to work out the multiplayer issues, but I'd also be happy with some DLC...
  21. Glad you brought that up. I've been feeling like a right prat wondering what 'doom' means. Vampire is pretty obvious though. Chaos is just the name of the class that attribute belongs to like Chaos: Fire, Chaos: Ice etc.
  22. Not only are there crates, barrels and boxes; there are big shards of ice, urns, large vases and other assorted things to attack when there aren't any enemies around. I tried smashing a vase with a baseball bat in real life once. Unfortunately, people notice in real life. Especially if you've rummaged through all of their boxes and large storage containers first, all the while cursing "are there no f**king gold pieces here or what?"
  23. I'd like to second that. I've found only one real bug and I've made a separate thread for that. On another note: FIX THE CO-OP! Please... Thanks!
  24. I know what you mean. It'd be nice to have a seperate forum for console versions. Though reading through how many annoyed PC players there are makes me glad to be a console player.
  25. I think the game itself is fine, though, the multiplayer aspect is a real let-down. I can't believe Obsidian thought that the community would be happy with a shared screen and no saved character for player two! I hope it's not too late for them to address this, as I think this has huge potential on the Xbox. Of course, I understand why PC players are hating it as it was obviously developed primarily for the consoles.
