Sharing a screen on multiplayer?
hopfrog16 replied to Xader's topic in Dungeon Siege III: General Discussion
From what I've read, in online multiplayer you get your own screen. However, if you wander too far from your team mates, you will be teleported back to them. Hope this helps. =) -
DS3 Multiplayer - Local or Remote Servers?
hopfrog16 replied to Foofy's topic in Dungeon Siege III: General Discussion
Also for Storypeople like me discovering unique dialouge and consequences to choices. Though I don't think that matters to the OP. So nevermind^^. Heh, yah... I hear yah. =) I'm not sure how the actual depth will be on this game, though... I'm going to wait and see what people have to say about it. -
Every character has a healing ability that costs focus, and all you need to get focus is to beat someone up or block. How is that 'difficult'? It's literally impossible to get into a situation where you're stuck on low HP and have to go back to town for potions. To be honest I like the healing system a lot. I love me a little bit of strategical thinking. Don't heals cost those little purple orbs (instead of focus), though? I thought the way you regenerated those orbs, too, was with your special abilities.

DS3 Multiplayer - Local or Remote Servers?
hopfrog16 replied to Foofy's topic in Dungeon Siege III: General Discussion
No. There is no Newgame+. There is a hardcore mode, but that is for challenge, and anyone can select that difficulty from level 1. Once you beat the game, your game and your character are over. Single player, and multiplayer both. The replayability comes in beating the game with different characters I've been told. -
DS3 Multiplayer - Local or Remote Servers?
hopfrog16 replied to Foofy's topic in Dungeon Siege III: General Discussion
To be honest, I don't know. I would suspect that they are saved locally. I have read that the host is the only one with access to the save files, however. Some things you should know before you play DS3 with random strangers, though... When you play online co-op, you are playing one of the host's companions. You don't actually get to play your own character (it's like Fable 2). This means that after you leave, someone else can join his game and play your character (as far as I understand). If the host decides to continue gaining levels, the other person playing your character will be able to adjust your stats after he levels up. I'm not sure if the person playing your character will be able to sell/destroy your gear, but the host will be able to. Not only that, but the host can decide to stop hosting indefinitely if he wanted to, which would mean you would lose your character (since, after all, you can only play as the host's sidekick). Characters created in a multiplayer game are not persistent across different matches hosted by different people. I would highly recommend that you play this game with friends, or people that you know (like if you were to meet up with people on a forum and set up a game there). I hope this helps. =) Not exactly. As far as I understand if you rejoin you get your charachter back and he levels up to the host level if the host decided to play further. Can't say for certain though. Hmmm... but what if someone joins the host's game while you are away? I thought they could play your character? If all changes by that person were undone after you rejoined the match (to skills at least), that would be a LOT better. =O I hope that's how it works... Can anyone confirm this? -

Best ARPG gameplay ever?
hopfrog16 replied to metamag's topic in Dungeon Siege III: General Discussion
This. ^ Also, I still play D2 from time to time as well. =) For those of you who don't know, D2 has a GREAT modding community that's still going strong. http://phrozenkeep.hugelaser.com/index.php <- Check it out. =) I don't think that D2 mods as well as DS1 or NWN (no easily accessible tools until much later, and the game isn't as flexible in terms of alteration by far), but some of the mods are just plain brilliant. -
Game freezes on XBox360
hopfrog16 replied to LoganStoppable's topic in Dungeon Siege III: General Discussion
Funny that you are asking for NV, but yes, I am :D Ick... I hope this doesn't become a common problem. That's probably the last thing Obsidian needs right now. =P -
I don't like the loot collecting.
hopfrog16 replied to Labadal's topic in Dungeon Siege III: General Discussion
I don't think that matters, since all the inventories are shared (as far as I understand). -
Best ARPG gameplay ever?
hopfrog16 replied to metamag's topic in Dungeon Siege III: General Discussion
Er, I play it on PC and there are no problems with controls and camera whatsoever, learn to play(look at the second post of this topic) and disable camera auto-orient. Well... Of course, unless you're left handed. Being able to assign keys would have been nice. To be honest this whole discussion is really pointless... People who want a game like Diablo 2 won't like this game (persistence and replayability. I can't see even the strongest fan of this game giving it more than 4 play throughs ). People who want a game like BG DA with strong couch co-op will like this game (the feel of combat is good I think... could use some improvements, but maybe they will be corrected in a patch, or a sequel). Relax, people... In another thread we mention that we are implementing keybinding soon. It'll be a patch that will be coming out. Aye, I believe I posted this before the announcement... If not, I apologize for incorrect information. Thanks to Obsidian for listening to our complaints, heh. =) -
Some updates re: feedback

Much thanks! Good to know Obsidian listens to what people have to say. =) -

Are you really sure they are named Archons? I checked Bestiary FAQs and I can't seem to find it. (I'm horrible with names so I don't remember) Nah, they were in castle Ehb like Monokli says if I remember correctly. Regardless, however, they are elementals now. So, are they named Archon now or not? I never doubted that you meet them as I remember them too I'm just unsure they were called Archons. To be honest I really don't remember. There were ghosts in castle Ehb, but that's about all I can remember, heh. =)

How do u get better loot?

Nah... Seems pretty obvious to me that Jeyne Kassynder is an archon. They've hinted as much... I have a feeling, too, that there will be more archons as well (I think the lady who hired the Lescanzi to take over Raven's Rill may be one as well... maybe archons are trying to use the church of Azuni to take over Ehb?). In fact, it wouldn't surprise me if archons were an integral part of the story. I'm probably wrong, though, heh.

Savegames and achievments are not connected. Wouldn't it actually be easier for the guest to get this trophy? For example: Save before the end and while you can rejoin as a different charachter the host can't. Also yeah, some of the achievments probably require multiple playthroughs. Sorry multiple playthroughs are okay, but only , if we both get the trophie. I dont want play that game for 8 times. 4 times as host , that I get the trophy, and 4 times as guest, that my friend get the trophie. (finsih game with all characters) I hope there is a way. It shouldn't matter. If you finish the game together with your friend it "should" count towards the achievment. Savegames/data and achievments/trophies are unreleated. Heh... There's an old saying C2B. You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make em drink.

Sadly , the gamers of this gen find that boring. They only care about co-op /MP no matter if the game have a weak plot/story. Ex. L4D games. I rather 100 times buy a RPG with a good story than a game focused in co-op /MP with weak story. This is not a new phenomenon. Wolfenstein 3D wasn't played for the story. Doom and Quake had their online success. Counter-Strike. That's the continuation of an old trend. Aye... Even before those games, multiplayer games (that were weak on story, heh) were growing in popularity. In 1980 a small 6 player game called Dungeons of Kesmai (text based RPG) was created... From that came Island of Kesmai (1985, text based RPG) along with a "pay to play" service, and from that came Legends of Kesmai (1996, graphical RPG, ended in 2000) which continued that tradition. That's just one of the old MUD franchises, and there were a LOT. For those of you who play using a gaming service or play on MMOs... This is your history. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gZgEtoOBr0k

It would be nice if this actually accounts for both sides. Naturally your critisism is allowed but you also come across sometimes as insulting and arrogant. While my post was directed towards a specific person as a reply, I think everyone reading it can see the meaning can be applied to majority of the posters lately. people have to chill out a bit This. ^ -
Hmmm... The problem with your furniture analogy, however, is that when you go to buy your replacement furniture you have a choice in what you refurnish your house with (with DS3 we get what we get). that's besides the point, though... The point is that whether or not the game is better than it's predecessors, or vice versa, really doesn't matter. They are in two different genres now, I feel. It would be like if they made Diablo 4, the turned based RPG. To be honest, I like turn based RPGs, and I probably would like that game. Many of the Diablo fans would probably be disappointed, however. That doesn't mean it's a bad game, or that it shouldn't be given a chance... That just means that the fans of the older Diablo games might not like the change in the game mechanics, or turn based RPGs. In the end, though, this conversation really is pointless, heh. =) The sales for DS3 will be high, regardless. I plan on getting this game, too, when the price drops (after all, I love me some BG DA style goodness).

You bring up some good points. Try to understand, though, that many fans were expecting some of the core elements of what made Dungeon Siege what it is to transition to the third game. That's not to say DS3 won't be a good game... I like it, and I think it will succeed. There are many improvements on what DS 1 and 2 had, also (I love the combat in DS3). It is still disappointing for me, though, that all the things about the franchise that I loved have been removed. =P Heh... I guess that I'm also hoping that maybe if the game is successful enough for a sequel, Sony/Obsidian will listen to what the fans have been saying and reintroduce a few of the core elements DS fans liked. That's doubtful, though.

The entire gameplay was different...but I suppose you can try to ignore that difference between DS1 and DS2. DS2 only had it so that you could have multiple people in a party...other than that the entire gameplay was more Diablo 2 than Dungeon Siege 1. Even the skill system of DS2 was like D2. Then you go to the story, and the story was even fashioned a little after D2 and had more similarities than DS1, DS2 was a dark fantasy inclusive of the end overall. As for the planet, I live on planet Earth. You? Eh... There are big differences between 1 and 2, but for me the core mechanics of what DS is stay the same. Easily accessible editing tools. Great persistent multiplayer (with characters you can import from single player). The ability to level up your class depending on what weapon you use. Customization of appearance (although DS2's customization was much different than DS1). The ability to have a group of however many people you were allowed (1-8, depending on the difficulty). Self sufficient party members. There are many more similarities, but those are the big ones for me that make Dungeon Siege, well... Dungeon Siege. =P That's not to say that DS2 isn't a lot different than DS1, but to say that they are nothing alike is just not true.

At leas we'll play in the shade! Well someone posted a screenshot of an 8 hour savegame (apparently the game auto saves at the end- the auto save was there too), but that went down with a troll thread. Whether that's proof or not... you decide. Eh... Even if it was true, I have a tendency to take my sweet time with these kind of games... I would be surprised if I didn't spend at least 20 hours with it, heh. =)
