  1. Actually, Metacritic gets used by publishers in contracts as a royalties clause, so it seems perfectly logical to me to use it as one (but not only, obviously) way to judge how successful a game was. Forums can be useful to see how successful a game was with a certain niche and do provide good feedback, but it's confused, hard to read feedback, so it usually gets disregarded. Very interesting. =)
  2. That's a good question... I don't know. To be honest, you can't judge how successful something will be by people's reactions on the internet (reviewers included). Where the real evidence will lay will be in the sales figures when they are released.
  3. I found this on the Steam forums. This might help. http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/show...d.php?t=1924035
  4. Yeah, I thought the Droog were great as well. Very non-generic race as far as fantasy goes. I believe it was confirmed that the Krug were extinct in one of the previews. I'll try to find it. They are extinct according to a magical door in the Gunderic Mansion. So I wouldn't say its 100% that they are never to be seen again or couldn't be brought back. Oh, the Rukkenberry Pie door! I totally forgot about that. Yeah, I guess it's not totally confirmed then. Thanks, C2B. @ hopfrog - Here's the scene. Don't forget too that in the first game everyone thought the Seck had been exterminated as well... You and I know how that ended up. =P That settles it. I hope there's a "Revenge of the Krug" quest in the game. Would be interesting to me. The Krug were never really bright enough to lead themselves, so someone would have to be manipulating them for their own ends... But who? =O
  5. Trophies are saved on both of your games. Check out the trophy list though. Some of them are pretty special. What I mean: Only the host can save the game process, right? So I want finish Dungeon Siege on the hardest difficulty together with my friend. Maybe within 1-2 weeks. So we both will get the trophy for finishing Dungeon Siege on hardest difficult? Or only the host? That is only an example. I believe everyone gets to keep ALL their trophies they get in co-op games, host or not (at least, that's what I've read in interviews).
  6. I noticed that in my second playthrough ...i also found good loot. Break the eggs before they hatch. I always explore every little corner for loot in games like this, heh. =) I thought the eggs hatched (spawning 2 spiders for each bundle of eggs) when you broke them, though?
  7. My only complaint was that the helmet didn't show... Did no one read my post?

  9. I never said I expected every single piece of armor to look differently (the game that I used as an example actually only had a few different looking armor models per character... the variety came mostly in color differences). All I said was that I liked variety in equipment appearance, and most people who like games that are loot heavy do too. I also never said DS3 didn't have these things (after all, how am I supposed to judge this from a demo?). =P I'm confused why you're responding to my post so defensively... I didn't feel like I was being insulting. =P
  10. I agree that the camera needs to be zoomed out a bit more. DS1 was steampunk though, so I don't see the lore rape here. It's been a hundred years since DS1 and Stonebridge has grown by that time so it's not a stretch to see the city as it is. I would recommend reading the timeline on the DS3 site. It sums up DS1 and what has happened since then. Really good stuff. I'd agree with you here. In fact, I think it does add depth to the DS universe because I think it places Goblins into a more serious role. After all, the technology that humans have been getting has been because of the Goblins. Hopefully other DS races that were prevalent in DS1 (since the games DOES take place in the same kingdom) will have more of a roll, as well. As for what games are superior, it really depends on taste, since they are all very different... I'm partial to the first 2 games, though. Perhaps Seck or Droog? The Krug have been exterminated, unfortunately. I'd love to see the Droog. They were one of the more interesting civilizations in the game for me (minus the expansion). Besides, how do we know ALL of the krug have been destroyed? Many of them did live in caves and mines and such.
  11. So far they seem alright to me, but hopefully one won't have to wait long to get a higher tier of armor... Plus, I don't understand why Lucas doesn't have a helmet (after all, if people didn't like the way their character's helmet looked, adding an option in the menu to enable or disable their helmet's appearance is something that a lot of ARPGs/RPGs do). CoN is a great example of diversity in armor choices (and the AC didn't really do too much, so people could wear any armor they liked). Nothing more badass than wearing a skull on your head, hehe. In the end, though, we will have to wait to see what Reviewers have to say about the wearable equipment's appearance (unless, of course, you've pre-ordered the game).
  12. I would be one of those people... half the point of playing a hack n' slash is to FEEL badass, and the way one appears can effect that.

  14. Actually, I canceled my pre-order, but I still plan on getting the game when the price drops.
  15. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Troll_(Internet) The definition of troll doesn't apply to whats been said in this thread so far. If anything, your comment fits the definition a lot better. Not really sure what a plant-con man deal is..? Inside joke? Regardless, I think that the concerns me and others have posted are held by a large portion of the PC gaming community (Look at other forums on the subject). Aye... Especially the steam forums from what I've seen. =P
  16. This happened to me too and I couldn't stop laughing for some odd reason. It was just funny to have my character breaking the fourth wall... Heh, oh well. Did you see this bug in a multiplayer or singleplayer game? This was during the single player game, on my xbox... Happened when I was talking to Katarina. To be honest the amount of bugs I've had in the demo are pretty minimal (through 2 play throughs). =) The only other one I had was when I killed a Lescanzi mercenary and he flew up against a wall and stuck on it for a few moments, twitching, before he slid down the wall and back onto the ground. Nothing nearly as bad as the corpse bugs in the games that use the same engine as Oblivion (like FO3 and New Vegas).

  18. They are fine really, I remember Mass Effect for PC by the time I played 5 minutes of the game I was used to the controls it's hardly a game breaker, well unless your not even willing to learn a simple thing like controls. ...Or are left handed. =P Hopefully they will release a patch later that will allow people to change their key bindings...
  19. Yeah, this isn't what I meant. There's something else you get, though it may not be accessible in the demo. Free coupons for back rubs from Obsidian Developers?!
  20. As far as I can tell it does about double the damage. That being said, however, I would rather swing twice for the same damage and retain more control over my character than lose control for 1 second of locked character animation (especially when you leap PAST the group of enemies and only kill half of them... This doesn't happen often, but it happens enough to avoid the third swing for me)... In a twitch based action game like DS3, 1 second can be the difference between life and death. =P
  21. Well, why not a different country than America then, eh? Fallout: China. =O
  22. Heh... I just swing twice, and stop myself from swinging the third time (with the 2h sword, that is... I usually use this time to roll away). That third swing is downright obnoxious for me. =P
  23. Unfortunately each person will have to choose a different class/character each. That being said, Anjali can be built for melee pretty effectively, if you wish.
