After one playthrough siding with the mages, you realize siding with the templars is the only option that makes sense. Cullen ends up leading the Templars and has come a long way since DA1, so he only plans on wiping out the mages that deserve it, which is most of them, but still. He's reasonable, Orsino isn't. Anyway, found a game breaking bug after playing the first episode of the Tyranny of King Washington. Turns out if you have the other episides installed when you start the first one, it can't be finished, and Ubisoft never bothered fixing it. The official support response is to remove the other two episodes, and start over. Rather than start over after playing for 3 hours, I just moved on to Divinity: Original Sin. Combat is easier once I figured out lightning only arcs amongst my own party, not enemies.

Jade Empire was indeed awesome, but the RPG they talk about using redubbed 70s kung-fu movies as the cutscenes sounds like a different beast entirely, and one I would likely be all over if they made it.

This is a really common tactic of the SJW crowed. Just yeaterday reading comments at io9 on the casting Dwayne Johnson as Black Adam, as there was speculation he would be playing Shazam. Several people were then advocating for the casting of a black actor for Shazam, just so they could yell at "racists" who denied they were racist but just "want it to stay true to the comic". Immediately dismissing the opinion before it was even stated. I kinda hope this kind of garbage dilutes the meaning of words like racist and sexist so that people don't take it seriously anymore.

The Insane Beta Battles @ Crossing
Oerwinde replied to swordofthesith's topic in Backer Beta Discussion
I'm on easy and most battles kill me. Especially now that they made the mages wand an AOE attack, my party is wiped out within a few rounds by my mage's basic attack. To be fair, I'm playing the same way I played the IE games, and I cheated like mad with those to make combat super easy since combat is my least favorite part of anyRPG and I just want it over quickly. So I just focus everyones attacks o one guy until he's dead then move to the next. Worked in the IE games, results in dead party for every encounter except single enemies in PoE. -
The season of Bojack is well structured too. Finale ties up the arc of the season, while setting up the next season, but in a way that if there is no next season, nothing is left hanging. Its actually a pretty smart show despite its subject matter.

I don't see why the gaming press has to hijack the term Gamer when there is already a term for vile woman-hating nerds: Neckbeard.
-
They already did that in Liberation, though, didn't they? You play as a female I believe, but you don't have the choice of playing a male or a female I don't think. I'm not sure, I haven't played it yet. Hopefully picking up that and Black Flag during the Steam Winter Sale.

The way the Assassin's Creed universe works though, you can't have multiple protaganists unless you do a story that spans generations. I wouldn't mind playing a female assassin, but with how reliant the games are on the scripted sequences and such for much of the story, they would essentially have to do two entire sets of sequences for the game in order to give you a choice. The games aren't like Mass Effect where you can just swap male/female characters, its in a historical setting and attitudes towards a male and female character would be entirely different in that setting, and I don't believe that 50% of the Assassin's Creed audience is female, so looking at investment vs return, it doesn't make a lot of sense for them to do twice the work with no expectation of twice the reward

I think it depends for me. I think Docotor Who needs a new showrunner. Moffat hasn't provided that great of material after Amy Pond was out of the narrative. I wouldn't care of they cast a woman as the Doctor if the actress was good, but casting a woman to fill a quoata of some sort would be dumb. The Fantastic Four movie has way more problems than Johnny Storm being black, like the creative team trying to make it Chronicle 2. Frankly, I think the FF is pretty dated and should only take place in the 60s. As to other castings, Idris Elba as Heimdall and Samuel L Jackson as Nick Fury were good IMO. Buy your daughter the toys she wants. If anyone has a problem with it, tell them to **** off. I agree. I preferred Davies, sure his deus ex machina endings were kinda pulled out of nowhere, but they were intense and stirred my emotions. Matt Smith and Karen Gillian's chemistry saved Moffat's Who, with her gone it went downhill. As for the woman Doctor, the way I see it, in universe he's had a male form for over a thousand years, refers to himself as a man, has had two wives and some children. He's a male. Every time lord they have shown regenerate has regenerated into a new body of the same sex. Passing the title over to a female Time Lord would work, but he shouldn't regenerate into a female. The only good thing shown from the new FF so far is the head sculpt for Thing. The recent pictures of Dr Doom looked awful. The animated series from a couple years ago shows the concept isn't out-dated, just needs to be in the hands of someone who gives a crap. Marvel needs the rights back. Even if they don't make any FF movies, Reed should be there when Thanos shows up, and Doom is like the only earth-based villain besides Ultron who can threaten the Avengers. Sam Jackson was fine as Nick Fury because Nick Fury was black in the comics for 10 years before they even started making the movie, and they based him in the Ultimates off of Sam Jackson (though I preferred his first appearance in Ultimate X-Men as more of a James Bond type with more of a Denzel look). I didn't like Idris Elba's casting as Heimdall because I thought it was stupid to cast a black guy as a Norse God, since most of my Thor experience was on JMS and Olivier Copiel's run on Thor, where they were actually the Norse Gods. After finding out they were going with the Lee/Kirby version of cosmic aliens, I didn't mind so much. Sorry I am confused by one of your points. Why is it an issue to buy girls toys for your daughter? What is the objection to this? The io9 community has some sort of vendetta against traditional gender roles. If your little girl likes princesses and Barbies then you're a terrible parent who hates women.

Its not just gaming where SJWs are a problem. I don't know how many times I've been attacked as a mysoginist, racist, and genderist, for thinking the next Doctor shouldn't be a woman, casting a black actor to play a white character is bad casting, and admitting to buying girls toys for my daughter. And it doesn't matter what kind of argument I might make in my favor, they just attack and dismiss any rebuttal because my initial opinioin is evidence enough that I'm brain damaged.

Just finished the Last Mythal series. Last book was definitely the best one. Not sure where to move on to. The Maztica series, the Elminster books, or continue on with the Drizzt stuff.

Booted up Divinity:Original Sin last night. Trying to figure out which way out of Cyseal wont result in me controlling a party of corpses. Since everything is higher level than me.

I have a Samsung Galaxy S2, its starting to go, but I still have another 6 months or so before I can upgrade on my contract. I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 too, its not good, but we got it free when we signed up for our cable subscription.

Yeah. You have to buy a LOT for that to be worth it. Especially since they built the fulfillment centre in Delta. So living in Surrey I often get things in 2-3 days when I pick free shipping.

My first foil came during the summer sale, was able to get like $3 for it. Now I'm averaging 5-6 cents per card for whatever I get.

‘Virtual rape’ hard to track in online gaming, police say
Oerwinde replied to ktchong's topic in Computer and Console
Okay I see what you are saying, it will be used to highlight how unsuitable other consoles are In the video they flat out said there is no defense on Playstation, but Xbox is super neat and has awesome features. The problem was that she was referring to the PS3 having free online play, but they only showed pictures of PS4 accessories, negatively associating the PS4 with virtual rape. -
Not available in Canada. Prime is such a good deal in the US, but in Canada its a ripoff. US: $100 a year for free 2 day shipping, Amazon Instant, Kindle Lending Library, and Prime Music, in Canada its $80 a year for free 2 day shipping.

Robot Apocalypse is a little different than I expected...
Oerwinde replied to Oerwinde's topic in Way Off-Topic
Would be ironic if in 100 years Robots started using humans to do the jobs they didn't want to do. -
No he wasn't in the first one. If I remember right him and Peter were BFFs then his dad shipped him off when his disease started getting really apparent. I didn't like it because there is a trend in comics/movies/tv to wipe out origins of accident. It always has to be destiny or someone's plan. One of the appealing things about origins of accident is it could have happened to anyone so people can imagine themselves in the role.

Beat the main game of Assassins Creed 3. I don't think i've been more angry with a mission in any of the games than I was with the last one in that. My daughter came to see if I was alright I was screaming at it so much. On to the Tyranny of King Washington.
-
My problem was Harry. His character arc was awful, and how the hell did his father live to like 60 with his disease while Harry looked like/thought he was going to die like a week after his first symptoms? Also, the whole changing Peters origin from random accident to THE CHOSEN ONE was annoying.

http://youtu.be/7Pq-S557XQU?list=UU2C_jShtL725hvbm1arSV9w To summarize, within 10 years we could start to see most of the top 30 jobs (by number of people employed) replaced by robots or some sort of automated system. The jobs that could easily be replaced make up something like 45% of the workforce. The Great Depression saw an unemployment rate of around 25% What kind of societal shifts could we expect if half the population can't work?

I agree, it's very entertaining. The opening theme is one of the best I've seen. Now that it appears Netflix is wading into original Animated Series, they should tap that relationship with marvel and bust out a Nextwave series.

Started watching Bojack Horseman on Netflix. I'm a fan.

*Sigh* Suggesting that the "Ban Bossy" and Anita 'n' Kotaku brands of activism belongs in the same category as human rights groups is a bit delduded, and frankly a bit insulting to the latter. I would wager most of us who show distaste towards SJWs are referring to the highly antagonistic folks who subscribe to the former groups mentioned in the previous sentence. I'm don't mean to lecture you but maybe you should be more specific then when you make statements about groups of people you dislike , for example if I say "I don't like Chinese people " because of the rude Chinese people who run my local take-away it makes me sound silly and uninformed because I'm allowing a personal dislike of a small representation of an entire nation to shape my overall opinion of that nation. Even if I didn't mean it the perception that gets created about me isn't great. Just something for you to consider In my experience SJW refers exclusively to the belligerant online activists and not the legitimate IRL activists, so there's really no need to specify
