  1. So what's the background to this backstabbing and conspiracy theorizing? King of /pol/ source about anti-GG side sending death threats to themselves turned out to be fake: https://medium.com/@infinitechan/nothing-is-sacred-how-trust-works-online-and-how-kingofpol-fooled-me-9032a7dc3c4c In another news Gawker loses another sponsor: http://theralphretort.com/disgraced-gawker-loses-another-sponsor/ Also, someone leaked bunch of DiGRA emails: https://pdf.yt/d/upqC5otqVDmjq74N My take on all this: Drama doesn't matter, sending emails does. "Leaders" don't matter, people do. I thought Kingofpol was who released the gawker guy stuff. Claimed his source was Totilo. The source for the sending themselves threats was someone in the FBI supposedly.
  2. Still, its like pulling a console game out of Walmart. Yeah people can get it elsewhere, but you're still making the concious decision to snub the largest retailer. I thought Steam accounted for something like 70% of PC game sales now.
  3. Nazis riding dinosaurs in the Iron Sky sequel.
  4. DLC for ubisoft games on steam is stupid. You buy it on Steam, write the code down on some paper, open the game, select the game option for DLC, and enter the code manually. I played through about 60% of Assassins Creed 3 before realizing none of my DLC was activated.
  5. Metalocalypse The Doomstar Requiem: A Klok Opera. Brendon Small is a goddamned genius. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1xkH0yINgQc
  6. isn't 4chan one of the biggest internet forums? Thats kinda like "police investigating man with links to eating apples"
  7. Samantha Allen is an admitted Misandrist, so the loss of her voice is not a sad thing.
  8. How about that, now we're getting proof its about journalistic ethics
  9. Would you like a blanket and some cocoa? This GG issue is very simple, if you're a shepherd and a snake is taking all your sheep what do you do to the snake? Have the snake sued for sexual harrassment. Genius!
  10. Yeah. Posting on my phone gives me all sorts of formatting issues.
  11. http://www.ombudsman.cbc.radio-canada.ca/en/ CBC has somewhere to complain about problems with their journalism. Spread it around, if they get enough complaints they have to address it.
  12. So far liking them. I had just barely got used to the trade mechanics when they went and added like 20 new trade nodes though. I really want all the stuff Art of War unlocks, especially client states, but I can't afford it. I haven't even got Res Publica yet. Wealth of Nations I got last week because it was on GMG for 2.50 and I had credit. Sadly though, all the new provinces and tags have made the game grind to a halt. On max speed I go through a day about every 2-3 seconds, so its nearly unplayable. I had a mod all lined up to play where the Byzantines abandon Constantinople and flee to the new world, but its not compatible with the new patch and the author just announced he's not continuing development.
  13. You do know where the name came from right? The creator had done a bunch of failed games and FF was his last try, if it failed he was leaving the industry, his Final Fantasy. Which turned out to be wildly successful so it didn't turn out the way he thought.
  14. isn't that how season 4 of Enterprise got made? Fans raised like 4 million dollars to get it made, so the producers made season 4 all about pleasing hardcore trek fans rather than trying for broader appeal. Ended up with one of the best seasons of Trek TV ever.
  15. I wonder what the results would look like if people voted for who they best felt represented them rather than the closest one they thought could win.
  16. The Conservatives keep airing attack ads aimed at the leader of the Liberals up here in Canada. They have the curious effect of increasing the Liberals popular opinion. Its usually stuff like airing quotes out of context, bashing his charity work as bad judgement, or acting like his popular policies are dangerous and something only idiots would want.
  17. http://www.cell.com/current-biology/abstract/S0960-9822%2814%2901213-5 Political ideology may be biological. People were shown non-political images, and their bodies reactions allowed scientists to predict political leanings with up to 98% accuracy.
  18. I have young kids, so I don't get a lot of new movies watched anymore. I have seen the 3 live action Ninja Turtles movies and the awesome CGI one about 4 times each this week though. As a related note, the bankruptcy and dissolution of Imagi makes me sad. TMNT and Astro Boy were both awesome, and I was eagerly anticipating Gatchaman
  19. I'm digging Gotham, and one of the big reasons for that: Its the only live-action incarnation of Batman to show him being a detective. Sure he's like 10, but really, 7 Batman movies and it takes a loosely affiliated prequel with a 10 year old Bruce to actually show his detective skills?
  20. Was running through a game of EUIV as the Aztecs, got the furthest in the timeline that I've ever gotten before restarting, 1760s, new patch today added like 200 new provinces, so that caused some problems. Now there are bits of Portugese Brazil in the middle of Polan-Lithuania, and the Inca have a province in the middle of central africa. I do like the changes though. You can colonize along the Amazon now, bits of northern Australia, New Zealand is like 9 provinces now instead of 5, and the Tibetan plateau is now habitable. Mexico was ridiculous. When you load an old save with the new patch, it kinda tries to fill in the blanks, so I have like 15 gold producing provinces in Mexico, and with the added provinces and rejiggering of trade zones, I went from making 250 per turn in income, to over 600.
  21. Looking at the transcript, did he admit to the university bomb threat?
  22. Gamergate harrassment patrol has transcripts of a chat with a major Anita harasser, one of the threat makers. Contacted FBI, said Anita had to report it for them to take action, they contacted Anita, she muted/ignored them.
  23. Watched the Colbert Report, he does some in-character ball-busting, such as acusing her of wanting to put men's balls in a felt purse, but it was pretty heavily anti-gamergate. Realistically though, guests on these kind of shows are there to promote their piece, and not answer hard questions, and thats exactly what happened.
