Today has been a cleaning day. Done with the basement. Also decided it was about time I took a look at the innards of my PC. It was in dire need of cleaning. I'm a bit paranoid and usually call a friend to do it for me but decided against it. Did it myself and now there is almost no sound when I turn it on. I should do this more often. Did the same thing with my consoles. I've had them for more than three years, so I do not have to worry about the warranty.

I'm not going to hope for too much (yet). I'd love to see us in the top four. We need to get better results against the better teams. Good thing is that we have, Chelsea, Man City & United, Arsenal, Everton and Newcastle at home. I doubt we will win all of those games, but we do have a decent chance if the back four can stop messing about and make less mistakes.

That is true. It wouldn't be the game I wanted anymore. Playing Shadowrun Returns, I knew that the game wasn't very long and how the save systems worked, and no loot on enemy corpses. When I played the game and beat it, I knew what I had paid for and got what I expected. I was simply happy with that. Take a game like Divinity: Original Sin. I'm expecting a 30-40 hour game. Getting only a 10 hour game would disappoint me, especially if the reason was to please one part of the fan base that don't have the time for big games. Edit: I personally think the size is the biggest issue for people with restricted time for gaming. There are complex 10 hour games out there.

I asked myself a year (and a half) ago if I would have a difficult time getting into a big IE style game these days. Then I replayed Arcanum, Torment, NWN2 and its expansions. Currently replaying Baldur's Gate II. I had as fun as I have ever had with them. Time was and is a concern even as a non-parent, but I don't mind as long as Obsidian don't cut down on the scope. My lack of time should not be in the way. It might be a strange viewpoint, but that's how I see it. Pillars of Eternity being inspired by the IE games was the reason I backed with the sum I did. Had it been advertised as something else, I would still have backed, but at a lower tier.

Booked tickets to see the Liverpool vs Everton game. Another dream come true. Soon, I need to come up with more dreams.

First "real" day at work after 3 weeks off. Came home tired but it felt good to be back in action. Got many laughs because kids can be really funny even if it's unintentional. A kid asked me if I could make him a Pokemon perler bead pattern, so I did this:

I have Closure and To the Moon. SoDOFF members or board regulars.

There is no NDA for them. Both can be purchased on Steam.

I gave up on that. It's just too F2P... if they had just made a proper game I could buy, I'd do that. But having the AI be excessively lucky - gems cascading to 4 times in a row to 5-in-a-row so I get killed in one turn and have to spend real cash to heal my characters to play again? No thanks. When I get annoyed or frustrated I don't give people more money. My motivation doesn't work that way. I feel you. The AI hasn't been that lucky in my game, or as I usually say, it isn't cheating. I usually down enemies fairly easy with powers. Storm's Hailstorm ability is extremely overpowered. I gave up on the mobile version, but on the PC, I usually play 3 battles per session.

Took a break from it to play some other games. I'll probably go for a platinum if I don't get bored after beating the final boss.

Playing Marvel Puzzle Quest: Dark Reign. I like the game, it's relaxing. The big negative is that they kept the microtransactions from the mobile game. I'd happily buy a version that doesn't have this.

Ai Caramba! I will buy one for my birthday.

Adventurer vs Canon companion

I want to learn everything about the companions, so I'll definitely bring Obsidian written companions with me on my first and second run. -
Just beat two sub quests in Bravely Default. That means two challenging boss fights. Had to revive characters constantl but there was never any panic once I knew the pattern. Also (finally) completed three games today,, two from my gog backlog, Thief: DP and Thief: DS. Hiding isn't really that difficult as long as you are patient. I also completed Mars: War Logs. It was interesting enough even if the controls weren't the smoothest and party AI was abysmal. There was one boss fight that I made hilariously easy for myself by using the nail gun. I have a separate save file from chapter 2 and will join the other side for the other ending. 8 games beaten this year. I start working tomorrow, so the fun is over. Expecting to beat 25-30 games if previous years are anything to go by.

Asymetric Play and Skill Diversity.

I do understand the idea and I think it's an interesting concept in general. I'm simply asking myself how it could be implemented in (any party based) game. -
I usually put some music on. I don't like it either, but time flies by when I listen to something. That's how I force my self through exercises I don't particularly enjoy.

I have an iPhone 4. I've treated it so badly that I'm ashamed to post pictures of it. I bought it in '09, I think. I browse the net on it more than I do on my PC. I have no plans on buying a new phone until it completely dies on me. I don't know if portable gaming devices count, but I have some of those, too.

Asymetric Play and Skill Diversity.

It's an interesting idea but I don't know how easy it would be to implement something like this. How would this be handled? Once everyone is in position, does the game automatically win the battle for you? Do you have to manually control each character? If so, that sounds like a nightmarish task, keeping track of all the fights, scrolling the camera back and forth between fights. I could see this working very well if it was a game focused on cooperative play. -
Septerra Core. Split into three parties. Didn't get to choose how to set them up. I'm fairly sure I'm close to the end. Once again, I do like the environments, game is really good looking. But dungeons are annoyingly long. Combat is the reason I get annoyed, so slow... so... slow... Characters and story are okay. Not many games base their plot around Babylonian mythology as far as I know. This could game could have been a real favorite of mine, but the slow combat and large amount of backtracking holds it down. A good game that I have no interest in replaying anytime soon, if ever. Edit: I was actually at the end. Finished now, spamming three or four Black Holes. (Which I did a lot for the last few hours.) On to complete Summoner 2 and Yakuza 2.

I'm shaking my head, how can one get the color wrong? Cookie Monster is blue. Blue, dammit!
