  1. I would hope that this is is something that can work both ways. The reason I brought up the points with what Motorizer wrote was actually to give the party a reason to leave the dungeon. I am expecting Obsidian to give us reasons to explore the Old Paths, and as you stated, the more the better. I think that if Obsidian provides roadblocks to progress that are narrative driven in such a manner to make us leave the dungeon and the return with the correct solution to the problem of moving forward, it works better than a simple impassable lock or portal to elsewhere type solution. The funny thing about the 15 level dungeon, is that we know how many levels down we need to go to reach the end. If that wasn't the case, then leaving and coming back with some new information that extended the dungeon (like there is a path down behind a particular statue if you have a particular rune stone) would be less of an issue. Of course this could be handled with a "fake bottom" of sorts; you go down 15 levels and beat the big bad only to fine out that this was only a portion of the total dungeon and there is an entirely different area that is accessible from the 8th level that takes you to the real mega boss. Yeah leaving the dungeon to complete a quest would also work, I like it
  2. Not really, before a person becomes a target of the ICC they have to found guilty primarily of genocide and serious human rights abuses. Not every criminal will qualify for this ignominious title so the ICC wouldn't get involved
  3. A good and worthwhile list, Magicians End would be my favourite
  4. You have raised some good points, I like the idea of the mega dungeon being the source of several quests that start outside it. For example you meet a group of gnomes living in caves who want you to retrieve an important ancestral artefact for them. The artefact is kept on level 8 of the Dungeon in a sealed off area that requires a key that they only give you if you agree to the quest. This concept has loads of potential
  5. Walsie there is NO way they can link you to your past, so I wouldn't worry too much Never underestimate the effectiveness of plastic surgery my friend
  6. If your players are 'passionate' this way about a game so to threated developer with death then you can only imagine the way they commonly treat each-other.You can leave it to fester but then normal players will be pushed out and the community will start to give you a bad name. And the whole Fish nonsense just proves how immature gaming community really is. Apparently devs and journalists included. But at least in a forum community you can ban people and ensure a level of respectability. There isn't that type of monitoring around most types of Social Media
  7. Nice article JFSOCC But I have a solution to reduce the level of vehemence and criticism.... avoid Social Media. Its as simple as that. The author says "You can't give up on Twitter, because it's too good of a tool for interaction with your fans". That's nonsense, people choose to use Social Media as a means to communicate. What did people do 4 years to give updates? If I was a victim of abuse I would just use a website and post weekly comments. There is this real problem where people feel the need to update everyone all the time on what they doing and why they do it. And end of the day you become a victim of a tool that you don't need to use. Of course I'm not suggesting the level of abuse is acceptable but you won't change people making emotional comments so just remove the mechanism they use from your life and I promise you your stress levels will decrease
  8. If they can, they probably will. I have a different idea how to save our children. How about better education and improving the school system? And when it comes to child pron, how about we do something to try to prevent it, instead of hiding it? Well, guess that would involve some serious work. No you right, sometimes the most applicable way to resolve a social problem is not what government's do
  9. Yeah it is a amazing experience being able to max the graphic settings. I loved the hang-gliding, I would often do this as an alternative to the instant travel just for the panoramic views from the air
  10. For the editor the things I linked are what amounts to a manual. For the base game, they really do a bad job telling you all you need to know. They tell you a bit, but it wasn't even until the final segment of the game that I figured out how to use overwatch. "gentle pat on the head " Okay thanks for the information around the manual. Personally I think its something they need to release. I don't mind spending time on a game but not spending time learning how the gameplay works
  11. 1.) Please no. A Megadungeon should be a mega-dungeon, not a playground for loot-fanatics and XP-messies. 2.) Epic lot yes, but please don't give it away like candy. That destroys the value of finding something awesome, also it probably destroys any background the "loot" has. Also D3s portal NO, GOD, PLEASE NO! NO! NOOOOO! 3.) I can live with that. 4.) You don't have to look up anything, you have to simply think. It's been ages since I've had to solve any remotely interesting puzzle. 5.) NO. Sorry Gfted1 but I also disagree with almost all your suggestions. In fact I would say you are joking as you saying things in direct contradiction to what everyone else is suggesting ( but it is funny )
  12. Stupid question but doesn't this game have a decent manual, I come from school of thought that says complex games should have manuals
  13. That's a completely reasonable and valid reason to leave Obsidian. I would believe that before I believe he was fired and left under a dark cloud
  14. Hah. Not always true, but certainly the fierce ones only get fiercer. Heh, I used to know a girl at University who would totally vamp it up and act as the aggressive sex kitten type. She said it actually cut down on the guys that hit on her and worked as a defense. She always claimed that the average guy in a club or pub get intimidated by a girl like that, don't know how to handle it, and end up backing down and leaving them alone. I like that strategy That would put me off but not because I would be intimidated.
  15. Sure that's one way but for many people they prefer the luxury and convenience of going to few websites and reading at there leisure what people whose job it is to review games have to say. If you look at websites like Gamasutra and Forbes they carry a load of credibility around what they think about certain games
  16. Plenty listen to them, which is the sad and funny thing. People don't need them, can't really think of anything they've uniquely provided other than social justice outrage (woo RPS) or just funny drama. Okay so how would someone who doesn't have access to forums like these get an opinion on a new game that has been released without reading a gaming journalists review?
  17. Wow that's not a comment I would expect from you Jarmo, exploring complex dungeons is a cornerstone of almost fantasy RPG like D&D If you don't like multi-levelled dungeons what do you enjoy exploring?
  18. @ Alan I don't disagree with what you are saying but my comments weren't directed at you. There have been several comments that suggest gaming journalists are not relevant anymore as a source of information around there opinions on games. You can see this view from Bendu's comment onwards from some people He said "Game journos. Nobody needs them anymore. They are so '90s." His view around the importance of gaming journalists can't be more clearly expressed than this type of comment. That's where I'm getting the opinion " that people don't listen to gaming journalists"
  19. XBox One is *supposedly* going to be more aggressive in handing out Xbox Live bans to players who are frequently abusive or insulting to other players. That can't come soon enough, anything to reduce the rampant bigotry and unacceptable rudeness I support. Maybe people will actually start thinking before they comment and assuming there will be no consequences?
  20. Okay I disagree with what some of you guys are saying about the influence gaming journalists have around there opinion about games. Personally I always go to sites like Eurogamer, GameBanshee and Gamespot to get opinions of various journalists. I also read the user reviews and check forums like Steam for general perspectives which I find most interesting. If I am doing this I can guarantee you thousands of other people are also doing this. No offense but I think you guys are being jaded, myopic and dismissive if you think that no one listens to gaming journalists
  21. I think its time to move beyond the mistake that Harry made wearing that inappropriate costume. He has apologized profusely and has done more than enough for his country subsequently to show he is a patriot and someone that people should and can respect
  22. I've been reading up about these measures that the UK wants to implement and its actually not such a big deal as you as an adult can contact your ISP and instruct them to remove any filtering, so Porn problem solved But I am more concerned with the fact that the recommended filtering software is HomeSafe and they are owned by Huawei. Huawei is a Chinese Internet technology company similar to Cisco. They make routers, switches and other Internet related equipment. Huawei has been recently implicated in passing sensitive USA information back to China as many companies in the USA use them products. We use them in South Africa as they are offer good value for money and do the job The UK should really only consider using software and devices that are designed in the UK or the EU to do this type of filtering to ensure a level of internal security around where this data may end up
  23. I don't think this view is accurate. If gaming journalists were irrelevant why would Publishers ensure that certain gaming review websites and there gaming correspondents have early access to games and interviews? The reality is that there are still many people that place credibility in what gaming journalists say and what they think so they still play an important function
  24. I agree, also there is a train of thought that says that Child Porn is actually used by many pedophiles to suppress there abhorrent sexual appetites. So in fact by making it even harder to get, and already its illegal and hard to see, you may inadvertently make the issue worse as pedophiles will act on there urges
