  1. This talking point is so unbearably stupid. Here's the history: When PPACA (that's the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, popularly known as 'Obamacare') was under consideration, Sen. Vitter introduced an amendment that would force members of Congress, their staff, and political appointees in the executive branch to participate in the state-run exchanges that the bill would set up. This was an act of pure trolling, designed simply to force Democrats into an uncomfortable vote. (Or, well, a vote that would be easy to misconstrue in political ads as "exempting themselves from Obamacare.") Unexpectedly, though, the amendment was adopted. This created a bit of a paradox. The exchanges were designed so that people who couldn't buy health insurance through their employers would have an option outside of the (hideously expensive) individual marketplace. The exchanges don't have anything to do with folks who already buy insurance through their employer. Congresscritters, Hill staffers, and executive appointees, of course, have an employer who provides health insurance coverage. The Vitter amendment, metaphorically speaking, mandated that fish buy bicycles. The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) administers federal employee benefits and was charged with figuring out a way to make this work. That solution was to observe the new legal requirement that the affected employees buy their policies from the appropriate state-run exchange, but to extend to these employees a premium subsidy in the amount that other federal employees enjoy. The "Full Vitter" demands by some in the GOP right now would undo this OPM decision and strip all employer subsidies for health insurance premiums for affected employees. Again: pure trolling. No legitimate policy goal is furthered by it. Indeed, it is pointlessly cruel to Hill staffers, who are essentially being told that they don't deserve to be treated like professional employees are elsewhere in the public and private sector. But, none of that really matters, politically, because it doesn't make nearly as good a bumper sticker as "They exempted themselves from Obamacare," the total intellectual dishonesty of that statement notwithstanding. (Also, in case you were wondering, no, I would not be personally affected.) Enoch what you saying makes sense but if you could say it in plain English it would make even more sense
  2. Yeah that is a good question and it applies to the Door to Hell in Turkmenistan
  3. http://www.buzzfeed.com/jeremybender/creepiest-places-on-earth Guys take a look at this list, these are some of the scariest and weirdest places on earth to visit , I like the forest in Romania and Leap Castle in Ireland
  4. GD wouldn't another solution be to arrest every politician for sedition that is associated with the Tea Party? Then there would be less political conflict? Problem solved...
  5. I know some people are going to be critical of it, but I think it looks absolutely charming. I'm excited, this is the only kickstarter other than PE that I pledged a good chunk of change to. I've very excited about this game and I only funded it because of your enthusiasm Hurlshot But no regrets
  6. Sounds good, easy to cook and tasty
  7. Either of them would get my vote. The GOP picked the wrong cause for the right fight. If this was over the reckless spending levels of the last thirteen years I'm all for it. The US cannot outspend it's revenue in perpetuity. Sooner or later the total collapse will come. Why do you guys think real assets are so overpriced right now? But they staked out this fight over defunding Obamacare. And while I wish that could happen this was not the way to go about it. Obamacare is and will be an unmitigated disaster that everyone will hate before it is all done. But it was legally passed and lawfully upheld. Just get out of it's way and let if be the disaster it can't help but be. The only thing I think they should have insisted on is a provision that forces Congress and it's staff to participate in it without subsidy. After all if it's so ****ing great why did they exempt themselves from it. Where's my exemption? The way the government has been operating for the five years Obama has been in office is nothing short of disgraceful. There has not been a budget in his entire presidency. Instead they have funded the government through continuing resolutions that hold no one to account for where money is spent or how much. and when they run out they just raise the debt ceiling and pass another CR. This will only end one way. I'd prefer to get on with it so it will be over quicker. But that won't happen. The GOP will cave in, give the left everything it wants in return for a few unenforceable promises of future cuts, or more accurately reductions in the rate of growth. none of that will happen either and we will speed on along towards the inevitable. Holy Smoke !!! When GB and Wrath of Dragon criticize what the Republicans are doing then you REALLY know this time the GOP have made a political miscalculation
  8. " zombie-like horde of old people would descend on Washington and eat Congress alive" funny
  9. Well said and very relevant. I have made this prediction before but I'll say it again, the Republicans will never win an election again if they follow the ideological views of Tea Party members or rather let Tea Party politicians make public statements around there political views claiming to represent the Republican base. Back to the debt ceiling, I see that moderate Republicans through Boehner are prepared to agree to raise the debt ceiling, at last. Holding the USA, and the worlds financial markets, to ransom because you don't like Obamacare was a silly and reckless strategy. There are other battles to fight and I don't see this as one that was worth causing serious harm to USA economy EDIT: I was incorrect an agreement to raise the debt ceiling hasn't been reached
  10. I thought they were both very good but I preferred Brotherhood
  11. Sounds like a bug, it must be ......
  12. That's really, really good. How did you think of that one ?
  13. Really. Kinda fixed that for Bruce That's funny Monte, cracked me up
  14. Yes Viconia was my favourite NPC of all time But you could expand on her motives and also the influence she has on your journey. For example going on a specific quest because of what she needs and promises you. The only way i would like something like this is if the only way to romance her was for you to become more evil and no "turn her to the path of virtue" bull****. NPCs should have their own personalities and they are not only to make you feel good about yourself. If she is evil, she should stay evil and either you follow her to the dark path or you form a relationship that because of ideological diferences it goes nowhere and concludes in tragedy where she abandons you and she joins a diferent side. Maybe you are forced to kill her. But in Avellone i trust that he won' disapoint me in that front. That's an interesting perspective, the corrupting influence she has on you and a situation where you can't make her good. That could work but I'm not use to playing a bad character so it would be a new and difficult dynamic for me...but it has its appeal

  16. Mine would be a very beautiful, seductive Dark Elf (or equivalent race in PE) Sorceress. She would be very useful in combat but during the game she would have her own agenda and would get the main character to partake in certain questionable quests and choices. Ultimately you could sway her to the side of virtue but that would take building a certain relationship and Romance with her.
  17. Tonight I'm going to have oven baked fish and Couscous for dinner
  18. *shudder* Come on be a team player and a realist Part of Bioware games are about the Romance options, its inevitable. The debate is not about "will there be Romance in DA:I " but rather " what type of Romance and how will it be implemented" And that's a huge part of what thousands of fans, like me, enjoy about there games
  19. I'm a bit leery of what they've shown of the combat. Looked a bit too much like DA2, but slower when the one thing that made DA2 combat shine to me was the responsiveness. Now if it's slower with the same depth... yeah, not good. Well, we'll see. Nep don't forget the importance of an Isabella type character in DA:I ...we both appreciate the aesthetic appeal of such a person in the party
  20. I hope Bioware does implement some sort of nudity. It can only add to the realism and immersion in the various Romance options available to the player. It will also enhance and add excitement to your Romance decisions Wow DA:I is shaping up to be an amazing RPG, they really seem to be addressing everything that was lacking in the previous games
  21. " The omnipotent Gorthfucius passed his judgement. Women wailed and sadness reigned and the world knew that the days of the Resident Evil franchise were numbered as the great oracle only spoke the irrefutable truth "
  22. I saw this and its a bizarre ruling by the courts. This decision will be appealed in the Malaysian court and this decision has been hotly contested by moderate Muslims in Malaysia
