The Euro is politically popular in Greece. They want the incompatible combination of no austerity and euro membership, but of the two they apparently prefer Euro membership, something like 70% (?) want to accept the current deal despite it being stupid. That makes it politically untenable for Greece to leave without being (or appearing to be) forced out. Christine Lagarde is neither an armchair economist nor american, and her organisation is saying that they cannot lend to Greece under the current circumstances because the debt is odious and it would be illegal for them to contribute further to that. The European negotiators knew this before making the deal that relies on the IMF contributing. It's not so much disagreement about whether they'll achieve their goal, it's that they know that this deal won't get Greece back on track and that, as it stands, the deal is already dead as they've been told that one of their contributors cannot contribute under the conditions of their deal. Yet they still made the deal saying that the IMF would contribute, presumably not thinking that the IMF would leak then publicly say they won't contribute. That's a refusal to accept reality, it's very easy to insist that Greece must stay if you simply deny reality and decide that everything will work out fine in the end. Zora don't you feel betrayed and disappointed by Tsipras decision to suddenly acquiesce to harsher austerity. He fooled us all and created loads of resentment and consternation between certain member states. I didn't think he would fold so quick, I assumed the new austerity measures would have been much less severe than the Troika ones as I thought he was vindicated by the NO vote .....thats what the Greek people expected, they feel understandably betrayed. I would be seriously angry if I was Greek

Dragon Age: Inquisition vs The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
BruceVC replied to ktchong's topic in Computer and Console
I would only consider a game mature if I can see full porn scenes during my Romance options...it should be realistic -
Yeah....the only issue is I know you guys aren't representing my view properly....you don't agree with it you find it funny. But when I read it I can't help laughing as well ...my various lines do sound funny and contradictory

How did it come across as "painfully obvious" to you, out of curiosity? To be honest most people wouldn't know that answer as most people dont need to focus on grammar once they leave school Also Amentep gave a very complex response to what should have been a simple answer...when people know something they normally respond in 2 lines or so But I'm not attacking him, he is a nice guy and genuinely helps people understand things if asked

Barti I didn't mean to sound rude to KP but the reality is I dont have the interest to try to convince someone they need to debate with me KP was wrong about Greece and I explained why ..,...his whole argument about the Greeks not having the economic resources to stick to austerity was proven false when Tsipras agreed to his own harsher austerity. Its not that my point proved KP wrong ,,,the Greeks did this themselves Yet he still refuses to see this ...I can't do anymore about such intransigence. And then he has the cheek to say " he cant debate with me because I'm a troll...."

I didn't ask for any of this gobbledygook! Just tell me if I was right, darn you! I can't even remember what a preposition or a predicate bloody well are...American education, I tell you...(or rather, how I completely and utterly failed to learn anything from it, particularly on this subject, ). (Unrelated: did you know that gobbledygook had a "d" in it? I sure didn't before Googling how to spell it!) I think so, the last sentence is a bit tricky but I think you were right on it. But English isn't my forte and I'm going on a lot of memory here (with a few glances over a grammar website). Yeah that was painfully obvious...you would have made things much easier if you just said like me " I'm not great on grammar" Remember you are still very good at using logic and appealing to a persons conscience to get them to admit they wrong....its that forum voodoo magic you use so skillfully

So whats interesting is there are places where correct grammar is important. For example my dad comes from an era where people had to learn to speak and pronounce English words correctly. He use to correct us when we were growing up and it was annoying albeit well meaning So I had this expectation to not say certain words throughout school and then apartheid ended and suddenly I realized that for 80 % of my country English wasn't even there first language....suddenly pronunciation become irrelevant and it was just sincere communication..and thats what still matters to me I do loads of documentation at work but I use spell check so I don't manually check my work

(Unrelated: did you know that gobbledygook had a "d" in it? I sure didn't before Googling how to spell it!) Barti I have a secret to tell you " no one really cares about your aptness in grammar or your usage of words " because as long you can be understood thats all people should expect I actually get annoyed when people have such a sense of superciliousness to correct a strangers grammar on a gaming website ...come on those people must get a real hobby

I'm sorry if I am coming across as lecturing you, I know this must be annoying Just forget its me saying it and take it constructively. It's not that so much as it's completely nonsensical to use that, a move that confounded almost everyone and was the reason for the departure of the deputy finance minister, as proof to support your opinion. This is on top of you saying that unemployment and standard of living, things austerity usually negatively affects, have no bearing on the success of austerity. I'm going to be honest, I'm almost positive you're a troll and that discussing anything with you is a waste of my time. I think I'm finally going to allow myself to be influenced by those foul anti-west cretiuns Zor and numbers and just start ignoring you from here on out. Sure, you can do that. You will just be denying yourself a different and relevant insight But I understand my view is intimidating and some people hide behind the point '" you a troll ...I am going to ignore you " ( yet most people never seem to ignore me ) because they don't like being proven wrong I cant help you with your confidence and how to take constructive criticism. Thats on you

And you know what really disappoints me and leaves me with a real sense of emptiness ? All this time I thought you were completely supportive of my SJ initiatives ...I am not sure I can continue knowing you have lost faith in me I have mentioned this before but its best to never expect anyone to support a SJ campaign that you may personally raise. Its not as bad as you think as there is generally a few supportive views but mostly people reject it but sometimes thats because I am raising it. So I don't ever worry about "who will support me " for two main reasons You should raise a SJ issue because you believe in the principle ..not for the glory A gaming forum like this is probably one of the worst places to expect people to care about some view of a game and how some character is presented. Due to events like GG people are tired of being lectured by people they feel are hypocrites and about topics they feel are trivial. I get this, I don't believe it but I understand the criticism. Also these forums are not full of real sexists or bigots. So why try make people feel guilty about something that they aren't doing or rather why try to make people acknowledge a problem like sexism when it doesn't really exist on these forums. People get worked up enough by Anita's view on some gaming component and Moosa review of some game without me exacerbating the outrage

We spend a good deal of time on a videogame forum for a developer that makes RPGs, being strange comes with the territory. Besides I learnt to ignore people calling me weird years ago as its very subjective

Not entirely true! I am certifiably "weird", not "strange". I can't vouch for the rest of these boggarts, though... Barti,,,,please don't kid yourself you are as weird as the rest of us. You fit in perfectly
-
Yet everything feels normal to me but I'm eccentric in RL so you can't trust my input

That was exactly the thread that caused me to permanently tune out from your crusade. In all fairness, that's exactly the sort of carceral feminism even other feminists point and laugh at. Gfted1 the path of the SJ follower is long, perilous and requires fortitude ...its not for everyone as you have to learn to redefine certain views and this requires the ability to admit you wrong. And you strike me as someone who doesn't like admitting you are wrong ...unless your wife tells you are wrong
-
And you have to admit I was right about his view on Greece....its weird to see an American, especially a Texan, supporting and justifying the Greeks failure to implement austerity. Only some people from the PIGS countries and people who are anti-Western would look at the Greek situation and seriously defend there lack of good governance I could lie to you and say " no Greece has a valid reason to not pay back the loans" but I don't like lying to people I respect Bruce not only did you fail to support your position with evidence, you failed to debunk mine and had to retreat to a "agree to disagree". As it stands my position that implementing austerity(most of which will impact workers) when Greece is facing 20%+ unemployment and declining real wages so that Greece can get an extension on a loan it can not pay off in its current state has gone unchallenged by fact, with rhetoric about balancing budgets and the glory of privatization being thrown around instead. Like I challenged you to do in the Greece thread, If I'm wrong prove it using facts. KP you have the potential to become really influential and effective at debates on forums about RL topics but you need to learn to control your emotion, become more analytical and learn to accept when you are wrong. When we had that debate I can accept that your view carried some validity ...the argument " its completely unreasonable to expect the Greeks to commit to the Troika austerity terms considering the circumstances of the Greek economy " resonated on many levels But this view was completely disputed when Tsipras won the NO vote and then promptly created new, more severe austerity terms and had them accepted by the EU and the Greek parliament. You cant make your argument because its been proven patently false by Tsipras himself and is therefore moot But he played the game of brinkmanship very well and at the end when it became apparent Greece would get kicked out the EU and he would receive no further austerity relief he conceded to even more harsh austerity just to stay in the EU But this is an example where you mustn't blame yourself for being fooled....we all thought he was sincere
-
I believe you Barti....its obvious you are not good at basic English comprehension. But I wouldn't feel bad about this, its not like English is your first language
-
Yes I have been mistaken around some SJ campaigns like removing the hookers in GTAV, Ban the Bossy word campaign and Hulk Hogan but I don't retract my view often And you have proven my point ...you can't think of a valid reason why you don't like Romance ...Volo its sometimes hard being me and realizing you are right all the time

Dragon Age: Inquisition vs The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
BruceVC replied to ktchong's topic in Computer and Console
Its weird how much you seemed to dislike W3....you never complain about much yet you complained constantly about W3? Why aren't you loyal to a fellow EU state? Don't you like Poland ? -
[spoiler  That really made me laugh....very funny and appropriate
-
Barti my darling why are you polite and acquiescent to Nonek yet you think I'm condescending ? And I feel I have done more for you than he has ....I just get no loyalty
-
Sorry Enoch but this is one of those times where you can't change your original post You are too clever to have used such an inappropriate adjective ...people like you, me and Gromnir we don't get to change our foundation argument Look at Gromnir, do you see him ever retract his original argument? Very seldom, and why should he? He knows exactly what he is saying and he is prepared to defend it. And I'm not being obsequious to him. This is the expected behavior from intelligent adults and I consider both of you very bright. So lets just keep your first post the authoritative one ...remember our first opinions on matters are normally the right ones And the best part about your first post is that its also an accurate assessment of the situation....yes it appears its just you and me on our ship and everyone else is on Gromnirs but that's fine. I know you aren't haughty and don't feel the need to prove you are right and thats an admirable quality I haven't quite learnt to master. But to be fair I enjoy debating and who thinks they are wrong in debate ? Anyway my point is bask in your glory of your original post
-
Geez Nonek just be direct ...people don't want to guess or try to decipher your post around who you are referring to
-
Enoch I am very glad you see this Iran event in a positive light. If all the American forum members had shared Gromnirs reservations I would have had to change my view as I'm not so arrogant to think I know better than the combined views of all the actual US folk here You always make your posts about politics in such a reasonable and informed way and people respect your opinion So having you agree with me can only improve the credibility of my original point
-
Hi Nonek "waves " Where have you been ? I missed you even though all we do is argue
