  1. I have a question, why is what he said wrong? Also the quote was taken from a religious piece to a religious school. To a Christian, every other religion is wrong and inadequate. To a Muslim, every other religion is wrong and inadequate. Bernie condemning a person's belief to be Islamic phobic.....when again it's the very same damn shoe if someone is Muslim and thought about every other religion. It raises questions around his objectivity and ability to do his job in a way that isn't biased

  3. algroth how is your knowledge of economics and financial instruments and how they pertain to your country ? I want to ask you something about the Argentine bond crisis but I dont want to ask you something that you may not be familiar with? I have some... But my father is a former secretary of treasury and economy vice-minister so I'm sure any questions I wouldn't be able to answer, I could just ask him. Your father is probably the best person to answer this actually I will keep it simple, ask him if all the outdated bonds have been paid back. Basically most of Argentina's creditors exchanged their defaulted debt for new securities in two restructurings that took place in 2005 and 2010....are these debts paid back?

  5. I think it should be fine if any country in the EU doesnt want to accept any Muslim refugee, its much better if its voluntary and not forced on a country like Poland I cant think of any ME country that would welcome Polish religious people in like the EU has done So lets not force something unnecessary ?
  6. You know, not understand the basics of what a majority and minority is, really discredits any points made on that basis. I wish people were able to discuss this in terms that were actually accurate and not profoundly ethnocentric - but alas, inability to understand that phenenom seems to be antithesis to actually understanding and discussing the phenenom in general and objective terms. Because there are certainly valid critiques of the current multicultural approach in European politics, but these blanket generalizations really kills rational discussion, as we end up having to nitpick the most basic definitions .. In short, your point gets lost, if you hijack a definition to push a ethnocentric agenda - no matter how valid or not it is. What is your view on the success of multiculturalism in Denmark and other Scandinavian counties ? The issue is not multiculturalism IMO, I support that as usual. My issue is more about integrating Muslims who follow Sharia law and never truly appreciate what they have Why not stop integrating them, be honest and focus on other groups? Africa is a mess as countries like Nigeria, Somalia and Kenya fail to battle brutal Islamic groups....its pointless trying to integrate these groups....they even use children as suicide bombers, unheard of in African circles and utterly reprehensible http://www.aljazeera.com/news/africa/2013/11/nigeria-boko-haram-uses-child-soldiers-201311291435525502.html http://www.reuters.com/article/us-somalia-blast-idUSKBN18K2AJ
  7. That recalls a scene of Watership Down to mind, where the rabbit protagonists come across a road and, naturally, the cars that travel it. I meant to mention this earlier but I am glad you stuck around on these forums, we don't seem to retain new members on Off Topic and there are no lady members. I raised this with the regular members as sometimes I feel new members may get the wrong impression if they don't know how some people post and communicate For example I support SJ in RL and someone like volo quite regularly refers to SJW as Nazis, he doesnt mean it in the way most of us would respond to that criticism. In my world a Nazi is a type of white supremacist with a flawed and reprehensible view of minorities so you don't call someone that unless you want to offend them Don't take volo seriously if you feel he is offending you, he is actually much brighter than he pretends to be. Anyway the majority of members are nice and no one would be intentionally malicious I hope you stick around because I like your sincerity, how are you finding your overall experience ? Feels a little bit out of the blue, but... I think you have me a bit mistaken about me because I'm not a SJW nor do I care much about the SJ cause... I have my criticisms against political correctness and the 'liberal' position but just because I think they are going about it the wrong way and actually causing harm in the way they press their issues, I don't think it's right to go exactly the opposite way and condone an even worse philosophy (which is what I feel is happening quite a bit nowadays). Anyhow, I don't mind the experience, I know Volo is being tongue-in-cheek with much of his SJW Nazi claims, I'm not an absolute sourpuss all the time, just sometimes. No I don't think you a SJW, I don't accept that term because I am only concerned with SJ and equality in RL Internet SJ is more about divisive rhetoric and grandstanding, it lacks substance and I wont be pulled into something so pointless No I am happy believing and supporting SJ in RL where people take it seriously
  8. Denial is a very powerful thing many people take part in, especially when encouraged to do so by the bought and paid for mass media they were indoctrinated into. We've been at the point in the west for quite awhile now where we're going to have about as many people realize that mass immigration is a problem as we're going to. And we are as much past the point of talking about this as a man who has already been stabbed and is bleeding out is past the point of talking who stabbed him out of doing it. No guys, there is no denial here and yes something needs to be done but deporting the Muslim community is not the solution As much as that may seem to be a answer it would undermine what most Western countries believe and stand for. The majority of the Muslim in places like the UK I assume are opposed to extremism But are they doing enough? I question this, I wonder if these cowards came from Syria and are ISIS inspired or are UK citizens ?If they actually citizens then serious questions need to be asked and certain expectations made to the Muslim community It would be almost incomprehensible no one knew anything, in SA we have the whole Muslim community who phone in the various talks show deny ISIS exists or make ridiculous and offensive comments like "the CIA created ISIS to destabilize the ME and attack Islam " I have typically ignored this type of irritating ignorance but I feel its time to point out the truth ....the SA Muslim community need to start accepting the truth of Islamic extremism and take some sort of responsibility, Especially since we have arrested 4 ISIS homegrown terrorists http://www.bbc.com/news/world-africa-36766209

  10. Conceptually: Sure, we should all be looking for and enforcing ways to reduce harmful emissions. Its just common sense. Realistically: I'm a bit meh. I don't like the Chicken Little approach to anything and I think our lack of knowledge on the matter is significant. But hey, stuff is melting so we should do something sooner rather than later to mitigate the effects. You make certain points in a way that is exactly what I cant articulate yet when you say it I agree I want to tell you something else I would think probably doesnt matter to you but after this last election in the USA I had to fundamentally relook and redefine my view around SJ and what matters to achieve a more equitable society . I am a better person from this change and some comments you and other members have made through the years came back to me I am not saying I have changed certain views because of you specifically and now I want you to think Im a better person, this is about something that I somehow ignored and now that I see where I was going wrong its been beneficial to me and my overall perception on what makes a better overall society But I must give you and other members recognition even though I know you dont want it or expect it, I am going to make a separate post about this. If you have time and inclination please comment
  11. Gfted1 how do you personally feel about the USA leaving the Paris Accord? I am looking for some anecdotal comments from normal, tax paying citizens ?
  12. This decision by Trump was the wrong one because he didnt have to actually make it, there wasn't really a rationale justification to keep this particular campaign promise. Some people who support this decision, like Nigel Farage, say Trump should be credited for " actually delivering on campaign promises unlike other Western leaders " .......sounds fair except for the fact Trump has ignored several campaign promises where prudent It appears his popularity ratings are only now dropping but until recently stayed at the same level more or less http://www.newsweek.com/donald-trump-latest-approval-rating-drops-support-among-diehard-backers-618492 Many of his supporters have stayed loyal to him since his initial hyperbole and populism, they dont care if he cant support what he says are fine with very unorthodox ways he operates like using Twitter don't care if he sticks to specific promises ignore all media or rather any anti-Trump media seem to really believe Trump is beyond reproach and will redeem and fix what they perceive is wrong with the USA arent concerned if what Trump says will harm the USA in an economic sense.... many truly believe Trump is the savior of white Americans .....( I honestly didn't think white Americans needed to be saved ) Trump could literally say " my supporters are morons and misguided " and it wont stop them supporting him So why would he follow through on this campaign promise when most of corporate USA, majority of energy companies and many of his closest advisors advised him not to? I dont know if the science of global warming is true or not, I leave that up to people who have more information But the most important and strongest economies of the world are behind the Paris accord, as usual this decision caused an immediate but expected dichotomous split in the global media and normal Trump commentary People who dont like Trump resort to hyperbole like " is this the end of the USA as leader of the world, will China and India now lead the way for the global community " This type of comment really made me laugh, why would we suddenly think either China or India could suddenly become what the USA is in the global community ....no offense to either country but China : They dont have the economic resources, ethical compass, social inclination, real interest or relationships to do this. You cant possibly think a country that is busy trying to recreate its own economy can somehow guide the worldhttp://news.xinhuanet.com/english/2017-03/05/c_136103096.htm India : I like India and they are the only economic success in BRICS. But there economic transformation is based on how they have become a global outsourcing and stable investment hub for many countries.....why would they want to lead the world in any way outside what they now doing ? And people supporting Trumps decision claim this is going to save US jobs? I am missing this one, how would this be realistic ? https://www.nytimes.com/2017/06/01/climate/trump-paris-climate-agreement.html
  13. It's not about clean energy. It's about political power. It's about money. Even if you accept that 100% of the worst assumptions about human induced climate change are true what we are really seeing are cynical attempts to exploit the problem to seize political power or "level" the economic playing field. Who are you referring to when you say people want to seize political power and level the economic playing field ?
  14. Nothing unusual about giving a forum like this a well deserved and honest compliment I wish you guys did this more often, there are many members who provide extremely useful and insightful answers on a wide range of topics. And yes Amentep is one of them, he is one of the few members who has way to make me realize I may be wrong because of his logic and reasonable way of debating
  15. I have mentioned this before but the thing that irks me about interacting with Russian strippers is that they have no interest or inclination on just chatting and making small talk I know this sounds like a silly criticism but it matters to me, at least pretend to want to talk to me......I am use to that and banal platitudes are better than " how much money you got " I understand they have there reasons and cultural interaction but its difficult to connect with someone who seems to treat you like some ATM
  16. This is a good post and very informative, I agree with much of what you say and damn those Russian strippers are hot
  17. yeah, the problem is, why are we even there in the first place? In past 15 years it has mostly been to fight terrorism, which ironically has increased amount of terrorism and terrorists (at least most radical form which is the thing seen in the news). The only campaign against 'terrorist' was the Afghan one - and it had some ups and downs, but overall the propaganda target was achieved. Other campaigns led only to removal of safety barriers in the region... What do you mean by propaganda target ?
  18. I enjoyed the read so thanks for posting it But I honestly didn't find it revealing or that it offered any new information. It may be that I have strong links to the ME and ISIS so I am constantly updating what is happening. Just to point out a few observations No one has ever seriously suggested this was a fight against Islam. We know Islamic extremism is a small percentage of total Muslims No Western Democracy has ever been seriously threatened in the battle against ISIS, they use limited lone wolf attacks on Western countries. There Caliphate was between Iraq and Syria so ISIS only threatened the ME Its mostly Arab soldiers in the fight right now at Mosul and then they will attack Raqqa, Raqqa will fall and then ISIS will be a splintered entity with limited ability to organize attacks, the West will not lose any moral high ground as they wont be the ones killing and being killed in the final battle at Raqqa
  19. And young grasshopper what ingredients ...details remember, I like to know exactly what people used I also wanted to ask you another question which you dont have to answer, I know you are between jobs and that really can be vexing on the finances, How are you surviving, I assume your wife is helping out? I don't think I could survive 2 months if I wasn't working, all my debts would empty my meager savings
  20. I went on that MBA speaker event yesterday, it was good and I did learn several things from some of the speakers as they are all really interesting people who have become global motivational speakers ....but it wasn’t like everything was relevant The real benefit was interacting with the sales director and the team I have now joined around the Product Manager roles, I have to admit everyone is about 5-7 years older than me but much more experienced around there jobs and business management experience But this is a good thing as I will learn loads from some of them and that is what I need to do to expedite my current trajectory on this new job J But I really like the sales director and he seems to like me. He is an amazing person who has a totally different approach to his job; he is a master at building relationships and comes across incredibly trusting. So again someone else I can really learn from And this guy became a millionaire several years ago yet he has not quit this job and continues to espouse the company ethos, his own personal success has not made him arrogant in any way He made a point of inviting me for drinks afterwards, I didn't go this time but I was reminded going forward I would have to get use to taking customers for drinks and entertaining them at certain times. What is very different is I will get an expense card but due to the nature of the experience of this division the guys were talking about up to R100K can be claimed back next day!!!! My old position has a limit of 5k, of course you have to justify the cost but that's how much margin some of these guys make on some deals. But I want to avoid what happened last time I was in a sales role, 4-5 years ago. I ended up being the one always taking certain clients to the most exclusive and popular adult entertainment venue in JHB...a place I mentioned called the Grand This place is really 5 star, take a look at the food buffet and decor. They have very ostentatious champagne stalls and epicurean food stalls, they even have authentic Japanese sushi chefs. Its designed to create this impression it’s a upmarket restaurant so people can visit without palatable guilt ? http://www.thegrandrivonia.com/index.php I know some of you guys have never been to a brothel and won’t go due to moral or other reasons, I absolutely respect that view and I would never go if I was married or involved. But in SA and in every city I have worked or been involved in closing deals like Vegas, New York or London there has always been some guys who insist on going to some brothel afterwards as we always pay…and yes sometimes the guys are even married but it Is not my place to question their commitment My normal boss is married and has 2 kids; he has never ever been to a strip club in his life and will never go as he sees it as cheating on his family. He hired me 7 years ago, we were acquired by this global SA based consultancy 4 years ago and he made me the offer now for this exciting opportunity. He works 12-14 hours a day and doesn’t monitor us or expect timesheets. He implicitly trusts us and I appreciate that. So when he asks me anytime if I will go with any customers, again these are good deals, how can I really say no? Now finally there are different ladies working in the Grand, the hottest ladies are unbelievably hot but very expensive, R4000-6000/hour. They are mostly Russian, Ukrainian and Bulgarian and other east European ladies So I guess I have to not get pulled into some deviant encounter where I just get manipulated into spending money in an inordinate way through the expense card. Also I have an issue with the Grand, is true. It’s not the same as the strip club Candice works which is a place I feel relaxed….the Grand just always feels wrong and hedonistic in an uncomfortable way?
  21. Used to live near Cherokee, it used to be busy when I was a kid and the Indians in their outfits doing the fake Indian how, used to love it. Before video games and internet came along, used to love it. Be like driving thru a John Wayne Western. 90s and u could tell times got bad quick. I'm shocked how I feel thinking about it because I've come to view the reservation as a business more than a land of people. Maybe I'm not knowing Come now my friend, its okay to just chat to Gromnir without playing the old " I am a white person who also use to live on the reserve " ....what next, did you use to hunt and set snares ... I like and respect Gromnir but its not because I am generally drawn to intellectualism or his indefatigable manner to debate for days . No, in fact sometimes those debates become tedious because no one really follows them and people like Zora refuse to accept they are indisputably " anti-Western " , nothing wrong with being that ....other people are honest and it makes no difference to the reality of the world? But just acknowledge you are anti-western? No for me Gromnir is one of those people that due to certain circumstances has been on a great and arduous life journey. its not something most of us will even attempt to start as most people lose their way and forget what the objective was. But that understanding of the end of this mental journey is a clarity of certain truisms in life and sense of acceptance of what actually matters That can never be lost and makes a person see the world in a much better way
  22. I always respect your attempts to find balance on these debates especially around how you put real effort into integration and understanding the Muslim community who have immigrated to the USA , its admirable because most Muslims in the USA just want a peaceful and stable country where they can raise there families But to suggest the USA military is involved in all these Muslim countries and collateral damage is why suicide bombers kill innocent people is an appalling and inaccurate assessment of how the USA operates in ME countries Perhaps you misunderstand where the USA is active, what would be examples of US troops committing deeds of collateral damage in Muslim countries ? The issue here is 100 % the blame of how groups like ISIS operate and how they have warped and corrupted parts of the Islamic faith. You also have a real identity crisis in the ME where this reality exists that Sharia law works and its okay to marginalize and exclude certain people from economic transformation and inclusiveness from society Lets not make excuses for bad governments and lack of interest in reconciliation. Also it needs to be clearly communicated to anyone immigrating to any Western country that you can live and thrive in the West but you will accept the values that define the West, so no forced marriages or honor killings or homophobia for example . The Muslim community is unequivocally expected to report and inform on any hate preaching or any anti-western sentiment. If this is an issue then people must immigrate somewhere else, preferable a Muslim country
