  1. You make a good point, the budgets would be greater and therefore require a larger and consistent audience
  2. I started watching Nightflyers and Im really enjoying it, I did some reading up on it and noticed it was cancelled after 1 season It made me wonder why do so many good Sci-fi series only get through 1 season and then get cancelled? Why aren't these types of series popular...most of us enjoy them and Im sure we representative of a broader audience?
  3. ....I love it when you crack jokes on this forum Zora, sometimes levity breaks the ostensibly serious nature of political debates You cant possibly expect anyone but a Christian\Roman Catholic to become president in the USA, it has nothing to do with reasonableness or intolerance and this applies to all countries outside the USA where you have a religious demographic majority. For example you wont ever see a Christian ruling any Muslim country or India for that matter and thats okay, its what we would expect to see. A person from a minority religion in the majority of countries can become a mayor or a politician but not the president Personally I would vote for an atheist or agnostic but for many people, considering how many legitimate factors are normally and or automatically dichotomous in politics,to suggest someone who is not Christian\Roman Catholic would ever become USA president is just a pipe dream As I have said before when I see Christians elected to govern countries where they are the minority then I would concede this may be achievable in some Western Democracies
  4. Trump has recreated the fault lines in the current USA discourse and political narrative. He has created a binary choice for all Republican politicians, " either you with me or you against me " .....if you aren't with him you effectively swept aside into political obscurity. For me many Republicans who use to criticize him during the 2016 election but now support him aren't practicing hypocrisy but prudent political expediency and survival . It has worked for Trump so far and the Republican party is publicly united behind him in most areas. So they present a formidable adversary for the Democrats in 2020 The next question for the Democrats is " how do we beat Trump and who is the best candidate ", this is obviously early days before 2020 and these answers will change as time goes on. Saying all that if I was a Democratic strategist I would be very worried so far as the Democratic party is not united ideologically or around policy. For example you have these extreme policy suggestions like " free Medicare for all " and " we shouldn't prosecute anyone who crosses the borders illegally ". As I have mentioned before I see far too many new candidates who push unsustainable and or unrealistic left wing socialist policies that dont reflect what most reasonable Western Democracies would necessarily accept ...so why try do it in the USA? At the moment Biden is the best Democratic candidate for me so unless the Democrats, and especially all there supporters, can unite behind the right candidate for 2020 then Trump will win again
  5. I just watched an excellent movie called The Man with the Iron Heart which is about the assassination of the Nazi leader Reinhard Heydrich in Prague during WW2, its obviously based on a true story and you cannot but admire the bravery and fortitude of the Czech partisans who fought against the Nazi's
  6. The thought of a roast pig makes me salivate..I love pork , was there loads of crackling?
  7. England won, yaaaaaaaaaay.....I dont think I have ever watched game that was so close with the super over. Unbelievable England has never won a WC before
  8. What an exciting final, they tied so now they have a super over to see who hits the most boundaries....its very unusual to tie so Im 100 % sure how the super over works
  9. Guys the final for the Cricket World Cup is on. Its New Zealand vs England and England really could win, they need 72 from 60 balls which is very achievable and they on 170/4 For those that dont follow cricket we obviously must support England...we dont want NZ to win.
  10. Would burning it illegally be considered disrespectful in Finland ?
  11. I have had a good and relaxing weekend, I had to work yesterday for most of the day and today Im doing some documentation and customers pipeline updates for 2 hours or so I also cooked some mince for weekly lunch, watched various news channels and some entertaining series on Showmax and Netflix. Monday is looking good from a work perspective
  12. I dont see how your post is similar to people burning a flag in the interests of a protest or around some utterly illogical objective of civil disorder? How are they similar, what am I missing?
  13. I was actively encouraged by my family in CPT to not give money to beggars because it perpetuates the problem, I am not sure I agree with that view as when I lived in JHB I would often give money to people who approached me in my car at traffic lights. But in CPT its more about people wanting money when you walk past them and they tend to follow you But I do give money to people who perform in the streets and play musical instruments because I respect there skill and creativity. So I support the principle of buskers
  14. This is also a reality in CPT, there are certain prudent rules in these shelters and some homeless refuse to abide by them. I dont think its a majority but I know for some they simply chose to not be told what to do around not drinking or taking drugs
  15. Good correction to my earlier comment , I didn't read the article properly and it wasn't the USA flag that was vandalized I am not sure if you can burn the SA flag legally, I honestly cannot recall ever hearing about it in the history of the new SA since 1994 . I do consider flag burning by citizens in a Democracy as extremely unpatriotic and it should be criticized but I am not sure how you would or should criminalize it
  16. Yes you right, Cape Town does provide shelters for homeless people to sleep in that are free but some people still refuse to use them and that creates a problem which is why we need to enforce the bylaws. Here is another link that highlights this https://www.iafrica.com/cts-by-law-on-fines-for-homeless-violates-rights-says-sahrc/
  17. This type of behavior is unacceptable, I can understand wanting to immigrate to the USA but then taking part in some protest where you vandalize and destroy the flag of the country you want to live in cannot be condoned or accepted by rationale people. It just encourages anti-immigration sentiment and feeds Trumps irrational views around immigration and the solutions to address the border problems People must stop blaming government institutions like ICE for trying to enforce there mandate....they trying to do an almost impossible job so why blame them?
  18. In Cape Town we are trying to find practical solutions to address homelessness and help motivate people not to beg because it leads to crime and people feeling unsafe when they walk the streets Our major is enforcing certain bylaws that make it illegal to sleep on the streets and to make fires in the evening in certain areas. It has been heavily criticized by some and incorrectly characterized as "anti-poor " and " criminalizing homelessness " ....but its intention is not that at all. Sometimes you try to do the right thing and people just want to tear you down https://www.okayafrica.com/south-africas-cape-town-city-is-fining-people-for-being-homeless/
  19. People travel to countries and or immigrate to countries and end up not having money and needing to beg or raise money for further initiatives based on numerous factors It shouldn't be framed as a racial story or a Western story which in this type of narrative is about race . Also how do we know the people in the videos can afford the " normal costs "
  20. Yes Ktchong, its possible and real that you will find white people on the streets begging or asking for money. The same as you find other races begging or on the streets And I will share some other facts with you so these types of stories arent so newsworthy for you . White people go to jail, they commit crimes, they eat food , we need air to breath and we feel emotions and even live in poverty and rely on government social grants ....exactly the same as other races. Anything you not sure about white people you must just ask me and I'll explain
  21. I am always surprised by the arrogance and actions like this from the Chinese where they continue to dictate and act against countries who trade and interact with Taiwan, most of us dont care about the " one China " policy because Taiwan is a separate state. If China doesn't want to recognize Taiwan thats there choice but they have no legal right to dictate to other countries or corporations who want to trade with Taiwan But Shady we need to stop talking about this and now we need to act in a realistic and reasonable way to demonstrate our displeasure with China, I suggest we start boycotting Chinese goods to hurt them where it effects them the most ...economically Now we move from being Internet commentators and we act unequivocally in a RL sense. And I will lead by example, from this moment on I will stop buying Chinese fortune cookies....thats it, no more Chinese fortune cookies for me !!!!!! What is everyone else prepared to sacrifice in this war for liberty and justice
  22. Really...do tell? Send me the links Shady and I'll review this vital data for both of us
  23. I had a very entertaining evening with my friend last night, we went on a major pub crawl and ended up eating an amazing Tapas restaurant call La Parada. We shared multiple dishes and I had the best Beet Short Ribs I have eaten in my life...yes thats a bold statement but I genuinely believe it. I mentioned this before but its so convenient living in the heart of CPT because Im basically at the nexus of 3 major streets that have this plethora of bars and restaurants so we dont need to drive or Uber we just walk https://laparada.co.za/
  24. KP countries like the USA do care about humanitarian issues but you need to also balance that objective with normal global self interest and realistic outcomes when it comes to interfering in other countries internal policies. You dont want to impact things like the global economy because of poor human rights in another country unless its supported by the UN security council so everyone takes there share of responsibility You cant expect the USA to fix the whole worlds problems ?
  25. She really is hot Gorthfuscious, you must watch it
