  1. Oh no need to worry about that , we constantly discuss racism and history and the end of Apartheid. The reality is most South Africans dont really have in interest in history and when some raise history its often not accurate or misunderstood. But the schools do what they can, the Apartheid history is definitely taught and their are institutions like the Apartheid Museum that have school tours. I am not sure what else you can expect from any society and the idea of CRT really being taught in our schools is not going to happen, no one knows what its about or how you teach it at school level but their is the university course thats part of law that university students can study And we will generally have an incident of real racism, meaning white vs black racism, every 3 months or so. Like this incident below. But its not common, we grapple with many other societal woes like corruption, crime, illegal foreigners, GBV, service delivery failure, job losses and weekly electricity load shedding in some areas where people dont pay. These occur on a daily basis so racism is not something that we really deal with often despite what some South Africans may believe But here is an example of terrible racist behavior that the majority of people will condemn https://www.sabcnews.com/sabcnews/the-stellenbosch-urine-incident-is-one-of-the-most-vile-and-extreme-forms-of-racism/
  2. I have heard that sentiment before where their is some valid criticism towards all religions where non-believers will point how religion has led to wars and its a form of control But can I tell what I realized with my travels in Africa and the ME, if you could somehow prove their was no god and all the religious people in the world believed you the world would become immeasurably worse on almost every level because for many people who are born into poverty and die in poverty or live in failed states the belief that their is something better than their reality matters. They can accept their circumstances because as religious people this time on earth is nothing but a sojourn and what really matters is eternity and happiness in the afterlife but you must be a good person and not kill others or steal or rape or do anything you want because you will be judged on this when you die So I predict much more lawlessness, civil unrest and immoral behavior because some people would now say " well if it doesnt matter anymore why cant I just take what I want " or similar things Of course you still have many law-abiding citizens that are good people without religion but things would get worse
  3. Their is nothing in that video that is too hard to believe, we already know that China has not aligned with their " good friend Russia " to create the new world economic order China has much more trade and investments with the West and like most countries China is not going to sacrifice those economic benefits to really support Putins War outside of the rhetoric Why would they?
  4. Are you asking if the stories about rape from Russian soldiers is true or something else? What do you personally need before you will believe it, tell me and I will find it for you ?
  5. https://www.enca.com/shows/judge-yourself-dennis-davis-02-june-2022 Unfortunately exactly as I predicted based on the reality of how many aspects of US society and culture wars end up influencing SA in both positive ways and negative ways CRT has found its way into our debates. This link is a discussion about " should CRT be taught in SA schools " @Gorthand @Elerond What are we going to do about this because both of you have said I must stop being a zealot and crusader and worrying about things like BLM extremism and CRT ...and I took your advice. I thought " BruceVC your friends on the forum are right, these things will never happen in SA " ....and now look? So the question is " what is our next step "....Im thinking we get outraged obviously and then protest?
  6. I think its appalling to see anyone fighting in public but especially politicians who are paid salaries to represent the citizens of a country But just for the record that video from SA wasnt a fight. Thats how we engage in robust debate But on a serious note you will see its the EFF, Economic Freedom Fighters the people in red, who are responsible for that violence. Almost every single political problem in SA like that fight is because of them. They are our pseudo-socialist party and believe in policies like mass nationalization of land, banks, mines and everything else that is privatized. Their leader is notorious for offending minority groups that includes white people and he is currently facing numerous criminal charges like assault and charges for things like hate speech
  7. "avid worker rights advocate and socialist " Just for the record, I support workers rights because they part of labor laws and in most Democracies this is the law of the land. I dont support violent and criminal protests and I dont support unreasonable demands by workers that then lead to unnecessary and often protracted protests But if you work for a company and that company has a logo or uniform and the dress code says you must wear the uniform then you definitely must do what the company expects or you must resign
  8. You know I support the rights of LGBT and they are the most persecuted minority group overall in most countries. You wont find the death penalty for being black or being a women anywhere but their are countries in Africa and the ME where being gay is a criminal offense But we shouldnt force anyone to wear things that support any minority unless they want to, my view is the same as bending the knee in sports. Allow people to bend the knee if they want and we shouldnt make assumptions around those that dont want to So I do agree with you about the reality of homophobia but you can unintentionally make things worse for LGBT if you try to force or use guilt to get people to wear LGBT symbols
  9. Im sure it is true that women were not generally hunters\warriors, its the same in black tribes and European clans and tribes But I dont see what difference it makes to this movie. The trailer clearly also shows men as hunters and warriors and no one can say with absolutely truth that their were no female hunters because we dont have accurate written records So for me this as an example of " unnecessary woke outrage " and its not going to stop me watching this movie I watched the trailer again now and I really think it looks excellent
  10. Thats a good question and I am familiar with the whole Kay Burley story because I watch Sky News and I like her In my opinion she was unfairly treated, she should have publicly apologized and agreed to never do it again. And if she did it again then she should have been fired. But during the lockdowns everyone should be allowed to make 1 mistake But as you are aware Sky News is a private sector company and not Public sector company so Sky News is not funded by tax payers money. I would leave it up to the Sky News board to decide these things because we dont want any government to start interfering in how private sector companies pay their staff and how much money they earn because its not governments business or money
  11. Okay thanks for all the views, I think I have said everything I can say about Partygate I hope I have changed peoples mind if they believed Johnson lied and it not then we can agree to disagree
  12. I also see its getting criticized on Codex for being woke and Im not sure what they mean in this case? Is it because the Native American hunter is a female and Native American hunters were men? For me thats not a reason not to watch it I loved Predator 1 but I preferred 2 , that scene in the tube with everyone trying to kill the predator was epic and sad when the cop gets killed
  13. I have explained this before, Johnson didnt consider the event you quoting as a party on the 13 November. So he didnt lie. He was wrong about what transpired and he was given misinformation as the link I posted clarifies And he apologized from the quote below, https://www.cbc.ca/news/world/boris-johnson-lockdown-party-partygate-1.6416773 ""I understand the anger that many will feel that I, myself, fell short when it came to observing the very rules which the government I lead had introduced to protect the public. And I accept in all sincerity that people had the right to expect better," Johnson said late Tuesday. "And now I feel an even greater sense of obligation to deliver on the priorities of the British people." Thats why it is possible he can apologize for breaking Covid rules and its not the same thing as him admitting he lied And my point has been same from the beginning, their is a media accusation that he lied. He didnt lie as I keep explaining
  14. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WhD3xAIZzeg OMG, this movie looks life changing....I cannot wait
  15. Where in that link does it say Johnson admitted to lying? No one is disputing if parties were held, the question I am asking is when did Johnson admit he lied? Because the criticism is that he lied and he has maintained he didnt lie An allegation of lying is not the same as lying and he was fined for breaching of Covid regulations, not lying https://www.cbc.ca/news/world/boris-johnson-lockdown-party-partygate-1.6416773
  16. Okay I see your concerns, do you have the link that confirms Johnson admitted to lying? Because that seems an important part of your criticism towards him? Here is a link that summarizes my view on this that he didnt lie which is fundamental to any views we may have of him https://www.scotsman.com/news/politics/boris-johnson-didnt-lie-about-partygate-he-was-just-given-wrong-information-jacob-rees-mogg-claims-3640105 But it appears you are convinced he did lie so I just want to review your source of information?
  17. Yes I think we may be debating different points, I will make the same point again but I need to clarify what you are concerned about This is about the specific events that colloquially is known as Partygate and in summary the media feeding frenzy and outrage is about " a party\parties that occurred in Downing street that Johnson was part of and yet UK citizens were told you cant party because of lockdown regulations " What exactly are you critical about, is about the parties that were held in Downing Street or the allegation that he lied? So would you be fine if he had admitted " yes we had parties in Downing Street " ?
  18. Interesting point, were all citizens in Oz told they had to come to work during the 2 years of the virus. In SA most of us sat at home and only essential services had to work in the office So in the case of SA and our public sector most people didnt have to come to work. Not all citizens did have to pay their wages because if you were not expected to work in an office its not the same as people who were told " you must be at work "
  19. I thought we were in agreement you weren't going to play the " hes a fascist\nazi" card unless its true and their is evidence And do you know why we dont like to play this card? Its undermines real examples of fascism because words like fascism have a specific definition in the English language And when you do this in any society this means people dont respond in the same way to this type of bigotry when its true because it gets overused and its like crying wolf But dont think Im suggesting you cant criticize people or politicians, just try to do it accurately
  20. You dont think that if you part of essential services and you working in an office 24/7 with a group of people having a party with those same people makes no difference to virus exposure because you already exposed because you seeing those same people everyday ? In other words the UK banned social gatherings because of the highly transmissible nature of the virus. But its irrelevant if you have to work everyday with people because what difference does a party make with those same people?
  21. Yes and their were various pandemic restrictions and laws, outside the US, in countries like SA and UK that very few people adhered to and everyone I know broke the " no social gatherings " But I remember our politicians always got called out despite the majority of us citizens doing the same thing But in the UK Johnson insisted on Downing Street being open and everyone in his cabinet had to work and they did even before we had the benefit of vaccines. So while everyone got to sit at home in the beginning the essential services, like his cabinet, worked and people got sick and some people died. He nearly died The UK media is having a feeding frenzy over Partygate but they were fine when he was working but suddenly a " party" for the same people who work together 24/7 is considered such a unacceptable event Do you see how the outrage isnt really fair ?
  22. Well he says he didnt lie because the 10 minutes he spent having 2 drinks he considered a social gathering or something similar And I tend to agree, 10 minutes and saying hi to people definitely isnt a party by my definition? And its normal in UK politics for these votes of confidence when someone falls out of favor even if its not their fault like Theresa May. His days are numbered but not right now
  23. Whats your suggestion to mass shootings in the US?
  24. Thats strange, the game was rock solid for me during the 20 hours I played it If its on Steam use the Verify Integrity of Files to confirm their is no corruption?
