  1. but look at that cast, holy cows Jennifer Connely is such a hottie in other news, I'm waiting for this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dmb33VPQXLA it's going to be ****, but I'll still watch it and probably will like it too. I'm so weak minded
  2. unless that was precisely the OP's intention
  3. actually, JRPGs are the last bastion of turn-based combat. Japanese developers seem to be the only ones to experiment with turn-based combat systems.
  4. half way through act 3
  5. in my early 20s I used to dedicate at least 5 hours a day to games, that's true. but only because I had a weird work schedule and worked night shifts pretty often, which excluded me from any kind of socializing. if I do end up working a normal 9-to-5 job now, there will hardly be room for games on weekdays for me. maybe in 10 years when I'm 40, with everyone hating my guts, online gaming will become my only way of meeting new people then and only then will I subscribe to a game
  6. "with jobs" and "play the game enough" kinda contradict each other, no? at least, for me to justify tossing $15 out the window every month I have to play the game at least 20 hours a week. and even now, while I'm a student, I can't dedicate more than 4-5 hours a week to games, let alone one game.
  7. they're kind of fun, but get repetitive very fast. I only played Payday 2's beta, so can't comment much. but Payday 1 gets boring soon enough. YMMV of course. it's just that there isn't much variety to the missions, and there are few of those to boot.
  8. Path of Exile. this game is beautiful. I can tell a lot of time went into it. I'm quickly becoming the devs' devoted fan. and damn it's so fun to be back in Diablo, since Blizzard effed up their attempt. it's the best hack'n'slash game since 2001.
  9. this. subs are for kids who play all day every day and pay with their moms' credit cards. one time purchase would be best, of course
  10. what about Everquest Next and its construction add-on, the Landmark?
  11. if we're talking pure co-op, the Scott Pilgrim game on XBLA is simply amazing (the one with Paul Robertson's animation)
  12. this. Path of Exile is the best Diablo game since Diablo II. if you like hack'n'slash you'll love it. no, unfortunately. but check this list out, see if your eye catches anything: http://www.co-optimus.com/system/6/playstation-2.html
  13. You can play Baldur's Gate 2 in co-op, though I never tried so wouldn't know how it plays. My personal co-op experience stops with PS2, and there's only a handful of games I could call RPG with a grain of salt. those Everquest spin-offs come to mind, Champions of Norrath or something. Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance 2 as well. Hunter: The Reckoning. Gauntlet series of games. there's a D'n'D game that can be played in co-op as well as at least one LoTR game. all of these are really Diablo-style with a bit more depth to combat. not real RPGs by any means.
  14. fixed not starting the whole "games are/aren't art" debate, oooh no
  15. exactly speaking of retro-style, I'm really hoping this will come out for PC eventually: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=clgoJRc-VKI
  16. You mean the one with Charlize Theron? I actually liked it. Although, someone other than K.Stewart as Snow White would make it a lot better. Or did you mean the one with Julia Roberts? In which case I have nothing to say to you
  17. finally got my hands on this gem of a game: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=975Zw8BJ3Vg it is easily the best game I've played in years. maybe that's because I don't own a console, so arcade games usually pass me by. still, it's amazing. it really reminds me of the old Genesis chedeuvres like Earth Worm Jim and Ecco the Dolphin for some strange reason. it's challenging (some boss fights and puzzles are really tough). the art style is amazing. the controls are fluid. it has a lot to offer to players: many different locations with different ways to get through them, a lot of secrets to find - it promotes exploration like no other game. and it's not terribly long. I got through 50% in one evening, and it left me very pleased. I cannot recommend this game enough.
  18. That looks suspiciously similar to Storm of Zehir
  19. hmmm, that Lenovo E145 does look very tempting. I'll keep an eye out for one of these, thanks
  20. I need a 10'' netbook, but decent reviews of more recent models are hard to come by for some reason... I'd welcome any advice, because so far I'm using this as my guide: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/netbook-10-inch-performance,2751-3.html
  21. not exactly movies, but I watched the first two seasons of The Wire while I did like the first season, even though it didn't live up to my expectations (after hearing so much about it, how it was the best TV series in the history of TV series) - it had nice flow, good direction, characters were handled well, generally - the second season is all over the place, and I would never recommend it to anyone. what the hell were they thinking? I'm now trying to figure out if I want to give season 3 a chance...
  22. you should make a mash-up or two, Wals
  23. what's not to like, it's Grieg! they say Grieg was for Norway what Sibelius was for Finland - to quote an anonymous author - "played an important role in the formation of the [peoples'] national identity". speaking of Sibelius: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gpS_u5RvMpM (ok, I admit, I only wanted to plug Sarah Chang in here again, even though it's not my favorite performance of this concerto, she's beautiful in every way)
  24. I loved the Mutant Chronicles game for Genesis, but couldn't force myself to sit through the movie. maybe I should try again
