funnily enough, videos like that make me NOT want to try Rust, and I bet I would've felt the same way about DayZ if I hadn't played it from its early days. looking at Rust on videos I seriously can't understand why people play it, modified DayZ has everything Rust has and more (try watching videos of DayZ Epoch, it's what Rust is trying to copy, basically, with crafting, building and side quests)

sorophx replied to funcroc's topic in Obsidian General
yeah, Constance is the one I mean, it just sounds differently here, no one ever calls boys Constant. well, now I know the Western variant as well -

that's usually a female's name, so I would be surprised to hear it's a man. -
looks like it's time to grab a bag of popcorn and go to RPG Codex

what is your worst rpg game ever played?
sorophx replied to darthdraken's topic in Computer and Console
I'm tempted to say Fallout 3, as I never finished it, but I really liked the game world, exploring and finding all the locations was really fun, so I can't bash it. the original Baldur's Gate is defo one of the worst RPGs, but only due to low level adventuring, which is very hard to make right in a game like BG. Ruins of Myth Drannor was awful, true, but it's a D&D party based dungeon crawler, so I can't hate it too much, since there's too few of those. in the end I only really hate everything that is Risen, Two Worlds and Dragon Age 2 -
Was it made by you by any chance?

the combat system is like in Dragon Age only the time doesn't completely stop when you press Spacebar, it goes into slomo, and you can queue your next 3 actions

Most of these places are military bases where you can find military grade equipment. Most people run there straight from the spawn point. It's highly likely that you'll encounter somebody while looting these. One other popular touristic location is the city of Electrozavodsk. It has many buildings that are rich with loot, medical supplies etc. So if people want to get stocked on supplies as fast as possible this is one of the best locations (also has military grade equipment in two buildings). Plus, one of the spawn points (which are random) is near this town. Another big town that has two spawn points is Berezino. Always people looting it, military base to the north of it as well. You could go deeper into the country to avoid most encounters. The problem is there's not much to do in the game aside from looking for rare equipment and shooting people to save yourself. You'll get bored soon if you play it in its current state. It is very "alpha". But the same thing applies to Rust to an extent, not much to do except for building bases and hogging equipment. The thing with spawn points is: there are no weapons to be found at them. So if you wanted to camp people you'd have to go find a weapon and ammo for it, then come back and wait for newly spawned players to appear. That's just too stupid for most people to even consider.

People don't camp spawn points, at least most don't. instead they camp popular locations. the problem with DayZ is that people are so used to shooting other players on sight it's nigh impossible to communicate with others because they'll kill you before you even have a chance to speak, just to be safe. The game saves all info about your character every 10 seconds or so, so if you disconnect you'll pop in at the same spot you were last

Rust has more features. Also, it's made by the guy(s) behind Garry's Mod, if that tells you anything. A lot of people swear by Rust and put down DayZ. Personally I don't like how Rust is shaping up, but I'm biased, I've spent hundreds of hours playing DayZ, there's no switching sides for me now

it will only get more expensive as time goes, if Arma 3 is anything to go by. the cheapest Arma 3 ever has been is its Early Access price. so if you really want to try it either wait for release and grab a gray Steam code from someone online or get it now

"fly fingertips" - that's a nice way of describing it, I'll remember that The F-15 was passing it by, he did have trouble keeping the speed low enough, just a well timed shot

oooh, I'm so tempted to post those pics of her where she's walking away from her bathroom mirror

that's exactly the point

like I said, personally. I really like combat oriented RPGs, especially when it's group based. but in PST combat felt like a developer's afterthought, that I just can't be bothered to suffer through. ideally PST would have the option to turn combat off completely. but since it doesn't, I don't play it. one time was enough. I have the book version, I'd rather read that

So, I decided to watch The Green Zone again. I find it strange that I seem to be the only one to like it, most of my friends who are into war movies find it boring. In my opinion it's one of the best war thrillers out there, on par with Zero Dark Thirty. Anyway, when I happen to disagree with a group of people on qualities of a certain movie I always look at what Roger Ebert had to say about it. And it turns out he loved it. 4 stars is Ebert's way of saying this movie does something so good it's right up there with the greatest movies. The movie is very entertaining, it grips me and doesn't let go 'til the end credits roll. The plot is built on happy coincidences. An Iraqi civilian who just happens to speak fluent English also happens to bump into one of Saddam's generals on his way to work and 5 minutes later the first American military patrol he sees is the main character's position in Baghdad. What are the chances of that happening? Although, life can be so ironic sometimes, that I can't help but believe in the possibility of something like this happening. Then things unravel so fast you barely get to take a breath. Action scenes are solid, but they're not the center of the movie. It's not like other war movies about Americans. And it's Matt Damon and Paul Greengrass, for god's sake! Think Bourne in Baghdad.

it doesn't matter what game is the best, PST is not it. it's a good game, but it has flaws, and personally I find it unplayable due to those flaws,
-
I don't agree on two points: PST is not the best game on that list, and they don't have a single Final Fantasy game
-
heh, that's the only reason I watch most movies - to see a certain actor or actors in action I find most movies I see badly written and sometimes badly handled by the director, only actors I like keep me entertained
-
I think you give too much credit to directors (and actors, although, in actors' case they are often the ones to make or break the movie). Fincher is an exceptional director, and I value his work for how he picks what scripts to work with. But it goes beyond that, of course. I hear movies often come out completely differently to how it felt like to the crew while working on them. Don't blame Fincher for other people's shortcomings

You're correct Wasn't mid-flight, though. My friend was so preoccupied with his thought about the mission he didn't notice how loud his engines sounded on takeoff. Only after getting to 15000 feet he noticed something was off
