Male dwarf hadn't gotten much love (exception verric, da2 inquisition) in quite a while. Wouldn't mind a dwarf who wasn't the stereotypical drunken braggart ( or, if he was, really go for it)... Love to see a dwarf with a deeply arcane storyline-- like a chanter searching the death song of his people, and is highly summon based, replacing all regular chanter summons with spirits of his ancestors - if you've been watching Taboo, by any chance, that's what I'm thinking Tom hardy dwarf style Minus the invest Maybe ... .. . Okay, no dwarf incest

Give me the option to make up my own. Just for the player character. 1. it will increase immersion: if my follower of Skaen thief/mage wants to call herself 'A Whisper of Skaen'....why not let me do that? 2. We could concievably have 3 fighter/mages....all who become battlemages. Let me be called something unique if that tickles my fancy. 3. You don't have to do it if you don't care. 4. Once the game releases, the build factory will start up again, and i for one would love to sort through a list of lore specific titles to decide what kind of character i'd run the next time through. that's all.

I think the change race gender could be really interesting. Remember you essentially die at the start of the game and ,as an awakened soul, maybe you could have jumped into another body--functionally giving the player the option at the start of the game to play the same character in a different body Or maybe galvino is there, and in one moment of brilliance, replicates the expirement he did on the devil of caroc The full narrative scope of this would be difficult to do adequate justice though, since it would involve a lot of responsive flags from characters you knew: 'so, this orlan female is actually the amau watcher I knew a few years back?' Lots of good opportunities for humor, though- (another thing mentioned in stream)

Romance

Archaven, on 01 Feb 2017 - 10:30 AM, said: that's an interesting idea....it makes sense, though I'm not sure what I think about it. One the one hand, I don't have a problem with romances in general, (though crowd-funding does add complications), As a stretch goal, though, with specific expectations provided early by the devs, and reinforced often, you could probably do something with a romance. However, I feel like Bioware's fan base is younger and less narrative motivated to really make a big impact in a 2d isometric. That's why we've seen Bioware simplify the formula over the last ten-twelve years. Apparently, the much vaunted NEW IP is a multi-player action adventure, or so I read yesterday. anyway, stretch goal romance would be something I wouldn't be adverse to. -
so, i was thinking about this last night- in the screenshots and video clips from the reveal, we see a fire godlike who isnt represented in the art, and who seems to represent the main character. my thought was that, seeing as Eothas devours your soul, you might have inherited some of his essence and been turned into a fire-god like as a result. Looking at the detail on Eder and Pallegina models in the frames on the fig page, and that image of the fire-god like they lead animator, i'm all little worried that may be the case. anybody considered that yet?

I certianly hope some kind of practical bonus is given to imported characters, as a acknowledgement that the player spent the time to play through a...what 100 hour game. The plot device not withstanding, it seems like there could be some first level granted feat called 'Strong Soul.' or something, that allows imported, completed playthrough characters to either retain historical feats or have a few attribute bonuses added to character creation-- the idea being that, the strength forged by so many battles and adventures allowed the PC (and, i think companions) to retain something of your former soul...you are awakened, btw.

Romance

It's a thing that can be done well, but currently it exists in a nebulous space. Options need to be provided (and rightfully so) across an expanding spectrum of preferences and identities. And in a crowd funded game, you simply can't make a mistake in this regard, since every backer, regardless of what they've kicked in, has to be considered equally. So, unless the devs have some really amazing plan, I think we're better of without romances for now. That being said, the modders at gibberlings3 produced some romance good content in their banter packs for Baldurs Gate. My first bgtrilogy play through, way back, I romanced dynahir and it worked out pretty well. So maybe later, if we can build a mod community, that would be an option. -
A sunken city, an island that conveys the sense of the 19th century sea adventures like Gordon Pym, or Robert Louis Stevenson, or lovecrafts later stuff... just no more dwarves ruins... loved white march and durlag's tower (albeit that was Black Isle) just ready for something different. Sure it will all be great whatever they come up with.

i think, at this point, it's time to pause to simplify the points we're touching on, so that, if a dev looks at the thread, we have specific problems we'd like to see addressed. And that's not to suggest that they will, or need to, or haven't discussed these issues, but: (note: i'm just trying to compile what I've read here. Add or change, or refute as desired.) 1. a problem with POE joinable companions is the expansive lore and backstory relayed in their dialogue, best exemplified by characters like Durance and Grieving Mother. While their stories were interesting, and run concurrent to the main plot's narrative, the character relationship suffers because we felt like we were being lectured by this or that character. 2. a more responsive set of companions, who react to our decisions and thereby produce lasting and irrevocable consequences, both in relation to our character and to the game's overarching plot, might be a way to improve this dynamic. 3. While we're currently disagreeing on the need for, or extent to which, a larger thematic bond is imperative to creating these reactive, interesting characters, we do agree that we'd like some link that would run through them, which would allow for disagreement, bonding, and other character interactions (which is maybe a redundant statement regarding #2, but does touch on the specific means by which this link is established.) 4. Stephen Heck belongs in every Obsidian game.
