  1. That's maybe the worst Italy I've ever seen in my life. They absolutely deserve to be out.
  2. Mmmmmmmm.. Seems in line with Nathaniel Chapman's philosophy of dealing with difficulty.
  3. Really, I always thought the seconds weak sales performance killed the series, sad to learn both failed. Well, in the case of Shenmue it has a lot to do with the enormous budget though. The saga could really support itself with stellar sales, so anything less than that, even if good, would have killed it.. as it happened (though there are still talks about a sequel from time to time). I doubt that's the case for Alpha Protocol.. if anything I have the suspicion the budget was lower than what the project really needed though who knows whose fault was for that (I don't really know how publisher-developer relationship work, and blaming SEGA at this point is far too easy and quick).
  4. Alan Parker- 7 (-1) Albatross- 14 Ali Shaheed- 9 Conrad Marburg- 10 Grigori Pazinhov- 5 Henry Leland- 11 Hong Shi- 10 Konstantin Brayko- 13 Mina Tang- 9 Omen Deng- 17 Ronald Sung- 7 SIE- 17 (+1) Scarlet Lake- 17 Sergei Surkov- 3 Sis- 18 Steven Heck- 17
  5. Actually Shenmue had disappointing sales considering its budget, which was one of the reasons that convinced SEGA to cram much more of the storyline in its sequel. It didn't work well.
  6. Exactly. Saved my ass more than once with a commando character.
  7. Becuase VTM:B got a sequel, due to it's cult status. IIRC VTM:B sold even worse than Alpha Protocol. But yeah, I think too that the most probable possibility is that AP won't have a sequel. At best, I think we can expect a spiritual successor by Obsidian, maybe in a slightly different setting, with revamped systems but a similar premise. Assuming a publisher wants to take the risk.
  8. Hopefully, since there's a lot of potential and they'll probably have less problems with the tech, but I'm trying to not get my hopes up, since for now it's unlikely.
  9. I'd say english. I actually haven't had the chance to watch much international football though, but it shouldn't be that difficult to have a less dramatic atmosphere and some more interesting matches than modern italian football. On that matter, tomorrow we'll see if Italy is taking seriously this World Cup or if they gave everything they've got in 2006 and just want to try again in 2014. I'm not getting my hopes high
  10. I'm aware that Obsidian does have plans to modify VATS (decreasing the initial/unmodified pool of AP, for instance) but I'd find it very hard to believe that Bethesda would allow anyone to alter the mechanic substantially (for instance, making VATS unavailable to anyone with an AGI below 5). For better or worse (guess which side I'm leaning), it's as integral to the new game as TBC was to the old. Easy changes doable in-engine can change the feel of the system a lot though. Take out or at least reduce the incredibly overpowered DR bonus, change the replay time and tweak the accuracy formulas, and you already have a system that feels different while having the same basis, and that's I guess what Obsidian will do. Either way, as long as the real time combat is better, I'll probably just shoot like that without using vats.
  11. To be honest I was expecting a bit more from Germany but who knows, maybe they're conserving energy for the rest of the cup.
  12. It's fun that it's always the rest of the world being a bigot for Volourn and never him(/her?)self being a bigot in the first place. Especially since no one went all 'football is the best sport in teh world!!111!' .
  13. I wouldn't be so sure. Sales on PC are usually inferior to sales on console. Granted, probably the people interested in Alpha Protocol are more PC gamers but still... If, and that's a big IF, this numbers are true, they're not as bad as I expected, considering the game hasn't been out for long, but I still doubt they'll ever work with the IP anymore, unless someone buys it from SEGA ultra-cheap and does a sequel on its own. So, in the end, I'd write off AP as a failure for Obsidian (after all, it was their first original IP, and they were certainly try to do something more) and it's in part their fault for that. Hopefully they'll keep what's good in the game for their next projects and scrap what's bad (crippled level design, forced boss fights when the rest of the game emphasizes non-combat gameplay if you want to, etc.). At least, it seems that, true or not, what that anonymous so-called dev said in that post comment is true : the other projects are already looking much better. EDIT : When I said 'failure for Obsidian' I meant of course from a reputation/sales point of view. They tried starting a franchise and making something that would be followed when it comes to rpgs. They didn't succeed.
  14. Actually, they CAN modify VATS if they want too. Modders did it without problems, so I think Obsidian can. Heck, they added special moves for melee weapons, a thing that modders couldn't do. If you mean 'Bethesda wouldn't want that' honestly I'm not sure. They didn't seem to mind much all the other changes to game balance after all. EDIT : Forgot to quote Jackalope's post. Whatever, it should be clear who I'm talking to
  15. I've seen people (female, even!) complaining about the Power Armor being non-girly in Fallout 3. Make of that what you will.
  16. Alan Parker- 9 Albatross- 13 Ali Shaheed- 9 Conrad Marburg- 10 Grigori Pazinhov- 5 (-1) Henry Leland- 11 Hong Shi- 11 Konstantin Brayko- 13 Mina Tang- 9 Omen Deng- 16 Ronald Sung- 8 SIE- 16 (+1) Dahling... she's awesome as a handler Scarlet Lake- 16 Sergei Surkov- 4 Sis- 17 Steven Heck- 15 Yancy Westridge- 6
  17. As long as it's a fun game... Storm Of Zehir probably would have been if not for the fact that it was built on an engine that clearly didn't support that kind of playstile and the combat wasn't really balanced. It could have also used a little bit more depth, but then again, it was an expansion. Obviously, though, the game would be much better if there were real choices & consequences and interesting characters.
  18. It's certainly... strange to hear someone praising Obsidian for an action rpg and saying other hack'n'slash developers should steal the feature. Really. It is. I mean it.
  19. Alan Parker- 9 Albatross- 13 Ali Shaheed- 9 Conrad Marburg- 10 Grigori Pazinhov- 6 (-1) Who's my favorite ****? Not you, Grigori. Henry Leland- 10 Hong Shi- 11 Konstantin Brayko- 13 Mina Tang- 9 Omen Deng- 16 (+1) Ronald Sung- 9 SIE- 14 Scarlet Lake- 16 Sergei Surkov- 5 Sis- 17 Steven Heck- 15 Yancy Westridge- 6
  20. They're also the only one that note in the previews that apparently the quest they were shown in the demo was just a proof of concept to showcase the game's combat and not a real quest. It will be interesting to know how real quests in the game are structured then.
  21. We'll see in The Witcher 2. Who knows...
  22. Discarding ****ty systems and boobies card isn't necessarily a bad thing. Just saying.
  23. You can place gadgets like EMP and First Aid Kits in more than one slot. That's particularly useful if you want to use a couple of couple of health kits in rapid succession.
  24. It looks like the guardian is indeed the model photoshopped on the concept arts. And yeah, I want a damn screenshot. Is it that difficult Squenix? Huh? Is it that difficult?
