When the family picks up a stomach bug.. those are the days you give thanks to the fact that there is more then one toilet in the house...

Hm, realised I have a rather massive of amount of tv shows saved up to watch at some point. Need to have that vital combination of actual time to sit down and catch up with those shows and the mood to spend the time that way.

RANDOM VIDEO GAME NEWS THREAD!
Saints Row 2, while having some bad port issues, just kept to the idea of being a slightly silly, over-the-top kind of open world. It would slam you with stupid - but fun - ultra violence, and then actually provide some serious emotion, then blink you to a storyline scene that would make you wince, before sliding straight back into OTT silliness. And everything I've seen of Saints Row the Third seems that they've kept that tongue firmly in cheek while making sure it's going to work fine on all game systems.

RANDOM VIDEO GAME NEWS THREAD!
Oh, don't mistake me. I had fun with GTA 3, and Vice City just made me smile , San Andreas had its ups and downs but was fairly entertaining. But GTAIV just.. I don't know, it turned into a grind rather then something I was enjoying exploring and playing. Between the annoyance of getting the game started and dealing with the social club login or not, the games for windows stuff, and the sheer amount of time it took before you could actually get into the game proper.. then the months of glitches.. and just.. the storyline never really grabbed my attention. Maybe that was just the russian pessimism and bleakness bleeding in.. But yeah, it just sapped my enjoyment and I still haven't finished it. Every time I've tried it just.. hits a point where I am just totally uninterested in starting it up again.

Deus Ex 3
Hm, I wouldn't have said so. The disapearances in Detroit seem much more..specific and noticable. The fact that you have a detective in the police station with a wall of missing women (and only women) and an investigation underway. You don't have any noticable missing notices in Hengsha, even though a whole bunch of people in storage in the Missing Link seem to be from there.. Something about the Detroit situation seems to feel different to me at least.

Eh, I'm still more interested in Saints Row then GTAV. I like my odd forays into bat-**** crazy.

Deus Ex 3
If it wasn't for the way they've set up Missing Link on a slightly modified engine style, I could have almost expected them to add in a dlc to the Detroit hub. All the references to "missing women" just seemed to scream out for a subplot to explore. But that would be more in the "minor dlc" in the vein of the Tong's rescue, rather then an actual "expanded story" dlc..

Ah yes the weather. Found I was being a tad scatterbrained and unfocused, so I took the dog out for a walk up and down the hill for a bit between rain downpours. For a day that's been repetitive heavy showers, it's a glaringly bright sun.

What are you playing now?
I haven't played anything really since I finished the Missing Link. A bit of dabbling off and on with Universe Sandbox... dang it, I can't create a proper binary star system. I think I'm pretty much in "pause" mode for gaming untill Saint's Row is out.

Dad decided to cook a meal tonight. And with the consideration that my mother is not a fan of chilli or ginger, and that about the only form of seafood I won't eat is in curry format.. He made a prawn biryani curry with massive amounts of salt, chilli and ginger. Now I'm going to do a run up for some fish and chips I believe.

SW: The Old Republic
I've got the CE pre-ordered. I gave in to that inner-geek pressure. With my odd shift of time to play, I'm not sure whether I'll link to the EU servers on ireland, or see what the lag is like for the US servers...

SW: The Old Republic
Hm, I spent about 2 years playing CoH off and on ..When I stepped away from it, I had one character at level cap of 50 (my first character and he'd been there awhile), an alt (villain) at 42, about 3 characters in the 20-30 range.. and two in the 8-14 area.

I've realised I seem to have gotten into the habit of eating only one actual "meal" a day. I don't think you can count a couple of digestive biscuits or a single mini-pork pie as an actual lunch... Even if that sole meal at night is a good mixture of vegetables and protein based food, I really need to start getting back into proper eating habits. That and I'm slipping into that whole "not fall asleep till somewhere around 0330" once more. Maybe that combination is why my mojo has been off this month...

Tis never fun to lose a pet thats become part of the family, but at least it sounds like she had a good last half of a life. The spaniel here is a rescue dog, and she is very clingy even several years on. If there's only one person in the house she'll tend to run in nervous circles and camp out by the front door until someone else turns up. Hm, early monday morning start, mom has a hospital appointment, its turning into a bit of a grey day. And in between I've had a bit of a dabble reading Eclipse Phase , which seems to be an interesting transhumanism/horror/sci-fi rpg.

It's actually kind of weird, the npc's you encounter are all quite well-done (animation wise) they've got some fun quirks and the surface appearance of personality, so you should remember them.. but then they don't actually seem to do much with it. Or have any depth of connection to you.

So it's turned out that my sister has broken up with the bf.. so the whole "i can get a puppy because in a year I'll be moving in to a new place with the bf and you won't have to deal with a growing alsatian" seems to have gone out the window. Apparently my mom's sister and her husband are flying out here from Australia next year for mom's 65th birthday, so in that space of time have to figure out exactly where they'll be staying. Hm, guess that's one thing to put on the "later priority list". My grandmothers neighbours have broken out the ladders to start putting christmas - yes, christmas decorations up on the outside of their house. I've realised I've gotten into the rather bad habit of eating one meal a day, which I should probably give due thought to. I had a minor spending splurge at rpgnow for some light retail therapy, but still can't seem to pick my mood up just yet.. This seems to have been a week of low mojo.

SW: The Old Republic
Hm, the thing that bumps the cost up is that statue of Malgus. Of course, the thing is Gentle Giant produces 12 inch statues of various Star Wars figures that sell for (or at least are listed as costing) around the $200-250 mark. So I guess there's always the option to put the 9 inch Malgus on ebay to see if you can get anything back.. of course, the hard core fans will probably already have the CE themselves anyway.... Edit: I have to admit, the whole putting a statue in a computer game and then jacking the price up for CE's is getting a wee bit annoying.

RANDOM VIDEO GAME NEWS THREAD!
Yeah, that was originally why I got tired of WoW. I wanted more fun PvE content, and all they seemed interested in was balancing PvP and adding raids. I never took part in a single raid in about 2 years of play. By the time Burning Crusdae came out, I had already found an MMO that was more focused on casual gaming. I have a few friends who really got into WoW and the raiding initially. But when they started talking about it as if it was a job "oh damn, ive got to get home because I'm supposed to be providing a healer on a raid tonight" "it just dragged on, showing the newbies in the guild the ropes and i have to work with them on this raid" .. etc.. and they'd come out of the game as if they'd spent a full week working rather then having fun. That to me, seems a reason not to play a game...

SW: The Old Republic
Just to add to the geek-levels... Since they haven't pre-sold all the CE boxes yet, they've decided to release an "unboxing" video just to add temptation. TOR - Collector's Edition Unboxed

Hm, just realised that I've had about 5 or 6 cups of tea..and no food apart from a couple of digestive biscuits today.. and I'm still not actually hungry. Now it's half midnight.. so I think I shall throw in some stewed apple to at least make sure I get something.

And did you catch the remark from Quinn in the end about the raging "invisible war" which unfortunately was "profoundly misconcepted"?
