  1. Went out for a few drinks and conversation with some friends. Got told by one of them, that when they have to describe me to people they say that I'm "a cross between Herr Flick of the Gestapo from 'Allo, Allo, and Nathon Fillion in Castle.."
  2. Settled into bed with some hot chocolate and a book last night.. and instead of just a chapter or three.. I ended up reading through the whole night. Realised it had gone 9am.. and managed to snooze for a couple of hours.
  3. Fairly different from that. Almost Human is a sci-fi cop show. Set in the near future, a cop who dislikes robots ends up with a cyborg leg, and an old model android partner (the model removed from service due to being designed to develop "emotions"). It has Karl Urban as the main cop and Michael Ealy as the android. Fairly pulp noir in a cyberpunkish-setting. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2654580/ As for 24.. The premise was good. But as they kept doing new seasons it kind of went from "Highly Competent Agent Baur leads a competent team" to "James-Bond Style Agent Baur with some help" to "Super Agent Baur with sidekicks" to "Superman Baur and his tag-alongs"
  4. Well this 24 isn't actually going to be 24 episodes. They're actually compressing time so that 24 hours will be shown in about 6 or so episodes if I remember rightly...
  5. Eh, I've known a few cos-players. Frankly it's no more silly then a lot of other things. People get frantic to get up in the soccer/hockey/football gear of their teams in fanatical manners. Tech geeks get focused on their hardware.. Some branches of fandom enjoy making costumes and dressing up in that.. It's all to the good, I never see any point in disparaging folks unless they try to shove it down my throat. Oh, or unless they're mad golfers. That annoys me.
  6. Just because..
  7. Norwegian boy takes parents' car to visit grandparents, claims he's a dwarf
  8. Remember, anyplace about half an hours travel north of the Watford Gap is sliding beyond civilised life and into the wilds of northern England...
  9. The other thing you might want to think of.. Look up "Britishisms" on the internet. http://britishisms.wordpress.com/ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_British_words_not_widely_used_in_the_United_States There's been a few amusing news stories over people complaining about the corruption of the American language by how it's become trendy to adopt various British phrases and slang words of late.
  10. hm, in movie news.. http://screencrush.com/black-widow-solo-movie/
  11. That's as far as I also got Exactly same happened to me the first time I played the game, stopped playing before finishing the first level as it really didn't seem like much and wondered why the game was so praised. Year or two passed and I continued seeing constant praise until I had to go back to it to see the hell is up with it. Now the game is pretty much in my top 5 games of all times permanently. It really is one of the best games ever and you really should give it another chance unless the genre isn't your thing. Hm, well I would say that while Liberty Island does showcase the multiple paths through a "level" as it were, it doesn't really offer much of a glimpse at the storyline or does much beyond a very basic introduction of a few character in the game. So whether that's an aspect to consider?
  12. It's out in selected cinemas and available via streaming from a bunch of places - iTunes, amazon.com, etc. Although that's again, only in the US at the moment.
  13. It's all about that +3 Rear of Perfection?
  14. Well the wind is howling, the trees outside are bending, and the coast is being lashed by the channel waters. The neighbours house has lost some more roofing tiles that have exploded against our wall. I was going to lay in bed to let a headache pass, but the combination of a desire for tea, and a bloody nose drove me from the covers. So now I am having a lunch(ish) pause to drink fresh tea, and have some blueberry pancakes ...
  15. See, while I have respect for the athletes and the accomplishment it takes to get there.. I find I end up trying to avoid all mention of the Olympics on tv as a matter of principle the last few years. There's just too much outright silliness, politics and public spending going on with them.
  16. Or the rough depression of quiet desperation? Hm, one of my friends seems to be having a hard time. She's been cycling through a relationship with her fiancée for about 16 years now, with several kids, but he apparently slides into that cold, distance, doesn't really bother being affectionate.. which over time drives her into quiet depression. She decides it's not healthy, and starts to split up with him, then he suddenly realises what he's doing and becomes ultra-affectionate and super-dad. So she decides for the sake of the kids it's better to try making it work. Then 2-3 years down the line it's the same thing over again. And again. And again. I can appreciate trying to make things work when kids are involved, but I can also say it's just not healthy for them to be caught in that sort of environment either. It's hard on just what sort of advice you can offer.
  17. Really? If so my bad. Things tend to blur a bit by now with how things have trailed on.... Let's see then,
  18. So let us return to the assortment of the internet..
  19. When the wind is blowing, the trees are rustling and rain is setting up that rhythmic pitter-patter it can be incredibly relaxing. That and if you're warm and snug in bed it just makes you want to go "feck it, I'm staying where I'm warm and comfortable." Still, made it up to face the day, sorted out a few things, drinking tea, dealing with some communications, and pondering which branch of research to shake.
  20. Take some time to think things through. Do not react on first impressions.?
  21. Taking the time to sort out mom's drugs for the week, while I have the Education vs Creation debate running in the background. Hm, so far the Creationism guy keeps talking about changing the definitions of things, and then talking about scientists who believe in Creationism, while Nye talks science and evidence.
