I gave in and watched it, pretty fun. My main concern is how bad Mike's aim is at low weapon levels. Anyone with military firearms training (which we can assume someone like Mike has) should be able to make a shot on a stationary man-sized target a few meters away when they have that much time to aim and the target isn't aware of them. Of course, we probably shouldn't bring realism into a game But I like. Apart from the old man crouchwalk. That's not so hot either

Welcome back to the AP fold.

Not Related to AP per say; Why does everyone hate DRM?
Baeus replied to ltolman's topic in Computer and Console
Lots of reasons that people object to it, but my personal one is that given the wide variety of computer + hardware + OS + program + dohickey combinations, DRM can have plenty of unintended consequences for the buyer. Personally, I used to laugh at anti-drm complaints, couldn't see the big deal... until I bought Spore. After I installed it, I couldn't right click any file in Windows anymore. Right clicking just did nothing, no list of options, no nothing. It took a lot of searcing on the internet, and some messing with my registry (and I'm not someone who has a sufficent understanding of computers to be entirely happy about doing that) before I could put in a workaround to SecureRom to get windows working properly again. Just installing this game with its DRM crippled my computer. So yeah, personally, I like to whine about DRM now, and am quite happy to sympathise with people who find their game won't work because the DRM doesn't like their hardware, or some program they installed years ago. -
Honestly, I'd be a little suprised if Mike didn't start to sound wierd if the player was constantly jumping between... cool calculating professional, a smooth charming womaniser and ruthless killer modes. It would mean that the writers didn't do their job putting some character in each choice. Of course, that can lead to some odd outcomes when the player jumps around, but still I'd say it's better than all 3 options being so dull and similar that they're perfectly interchangible.

Who will be the Tali of this game?

She's just that much of a badass, keeps her guns in her stomach. -
As much as I want to watch this, I don't really want to spoil a whole level for myself. Hmm, decisions.

They mentioned that you can pay to have a sniper rifle delivered to somewhere in a level, to be used only at that point. Much like you can buy intel for a mission.

The graphics in Dragon Age really depended what system you played it on. The 360 version was pretty terrible by comparison to the PS3 and (moderate settings) PC version.

Looking back over it, it doesn't seem to be as bad as I first though. The game seems to go in slow motion for one of the kills, which makes the enemies seem like they're doing nothing. And the player breaks line of sight a few times, which could account for some of the jitters. Dunno, maybe I'm just making excuses

how i plan to play alpha protocol
Baeus replied to smitty1984's topic in Alpha Protocol: General Discussion
Except with less glowy face mutilation. Which nobody seems to notice. -
There's always the possibility that it's just being played on easy difficulty, which makes the guards especially stupid. Yeah, I know, it's a long shot

Going to make myself a tank of a Thorton. All my points pumped into Shotguns, Toughness and Martial Arts. Just keep moving forward and blasting through everything in my path, always picking the aggressive options in dialogue. -
I think (think is the word here) that after it checks your activation over the internet the first time it sends its 'you may work now' code to the game. That just stays there forever without the need to reconnect to the net. But it will only do that 5 times unless you connect to the internet and reverse the activation for one of your PCs. That reversal would have the Sega servers sending another code to your computer to FUBAR that particular installation of AP, I assume. 360 version ahoy for me though

Hmm, not romancing a girl is one of the hardest achievements to get in the game? That's a little odd. -
Developing your skills trailer
Baeus replied to Starwars's topic in Alpha Protocol: General Discussion
Don't think he got 510 xp per enemy avoided and 200 per enemy killed. More that's the total xp gained for his sum of kills and avoids. So whoever has playing had quite a few more avoids than kills. At least I hope so. Otherwise my mass murdering Thorton isn't going to be too awesome -

If you're going to be close in though, is there really any other appropriate option available to you than 'shotgun everything in the face'? -

Oooh, something new. Nice find. -
I have a sneaking suspicion that the timer is simply linked to the npc's dialogue length. That is, as soon as they're done speaking their line, your choice is locked in and triggers. Just a theory anyway.
