  1. I'm not all that bothered by the specifics, it's very probably he's guilty.
  2. Those damn ladders, specially the one in the bathhouse.
  3. One man hardly a culture makes, so please bring evidence of how the majority of contemporary Hollywood is currently engage in non consensual sex. As that is the only thing that can be called raped and that its the only magnitude that makes a culture. So don't call a glass an ocean. Fair enough, I'll drop the whole "culture of rape that exists in some circles" I don't feel like a debate around semantics when in fact all I'm trying to do is highlight the fact that rape is a problem in most societies and Cosby is looking more and more guilty Interesting that you are more concerned with trying to prove me wrong than the substance of the article? Interesting that every case becomes a soapbox to preach the feminist gospel. Now there is evidence that Cosby did commit those crimes, before he was just being accused and being tried by the public. At this point is probably safe to assume that he's guilty, yet I don't see how that a rape culture makes.

  5. Teenagers, technically. Somehow is easier for me to believe that 12 years olds are more capable of murder than 6 years old. Probably because some of the ones I've met are very keen on stabbing people.
  6. Sure, I agree that in the media aesthetics play a part and I'm sure have a degree of influence around hiring policies But its not all about good looks, the person still has to be competent to get the job. And that is what is overlooked by some when they see someone like that weather girl ...some people will immediately think " well there is someone who only got hired because of her looks " And what they don't realize is they are unintentionally adding to the culture of objectifying women by only looking at her from one angle And what you don't realize is that people only care about what others can do for them, that's why things that are considered universally good bring joy to everyone. Beauty is valuable because everyone appreciates it, brains are only considered valuable after they come up something useful for everyone. So if women want to be appreciated by their brains then they can hide their beauty and do useful things. Now stop whining about non-issues.
  7. One part of the trial that has been making the rounds around the web is the prosecutor saying that if this were a man he would have gotten the maximum penalty. I don't always agree with laws that send people to jail needlessly but I also don't like double standards along class, gender or race.
  8. But we're civilized and totally not passive aggressive pussies.
  9. Ok, I don't know the point of your post but I just want to clarify a few things. Pixels and Vectors are two completely different rending methods, Vectors have the advantage of maintaining quality at any resolution and pixels can store more diverse color information. 2.5D uses 3D assets in a 2d manner, if they changed the perspective then it would full 3D. It's developed the same as 3D just with less detail as the camera is fixed on just one perspective (e.g: you don't make the back of a building because it will never be seen as it is an isometric game) Although the mode 7 is interesting (I didn't knew about it) It is not what is currently used. He was asking if anyone knew any terms for modern 2D game art, or that's how I understood the question. Vector art is modern-ish I guess, and I know it's completely different from pixels. He never really said he wanted pixel stuff, just the stuff they use in modern platformers or isometric games in general, that's why I mentioned the Vector thing, since some people don't know the difference. I just wanted to point out that 2.5D is frequently used "incorrectly". There are games that don't use any 3D rendering/assets, but use purely 2D assets with different algorithms and tricks to add the depth or 3D feel. I just mentioned mode 7 because it was the first example I could think of. Those games are not 2.5D, at least not by your definition. The pre-rendering is a valid thing in modern platformers and fighting games as well. For example Arc System's fighting games (BlazBlue and Persona 4 Arena) use 3D renders as base for the sprites to get all the frames done faster (or so I've heard, don't quote me on that). They then draw the renders to flat sprites and put them in game. I've haven't heard of many games that used methods other than 2.5D to create faux 3D. Do you know any?
  10. Human rights should apply for all, after all they're Human rights not Good Human's rights.
  11. I don't know if I would go as far as calling culture critics and bloggers journalists, that word still means something to me.
  12. They have enough fantasy kingdoms and fantasy objects they could probably do a pretty solid high fantasy story. Make Chernabog the main villain somewhere in it, and I'd be for it. Open world Kingdom Hearts maybe?
  13. What? Is this September 2014? This ride will never end. Seriously what is the end goal? There is something I must concede that I didn't want to develop. GG has created something meaningful..there is now a block of very connected and committed people who are opposed to SJ campaigns on different levels. It consists of mostly white, male gamers and they have some valid concerns and have a logical reason to exist I obviously won't judge my own race for making a misplaced stand so I am not opposed to them as much as people think Why does it need to have an end goal? It is pretty much born out of concern and a love for the industry and games, they want gaming to be better and not just SJ propaganda. If the SJ movement in gaming dies down then they the GG people will die down as well, or at least until the next outrage. They act as a consumers watch, which has banded together borne out of necessity since the journalists tend to be either on the side of publishers or ideologically inclined to causes not everyone shares. It will die down but I don't there will be a clear end. Ah finally a really relevant question...you ask " why does it have to have an end goal " Sorry to sound critical but I am going to be honest. I respect you see GG as a consumers watch and you really believe in this but the whole movement just seems nebulous around tangible objectives. Real objectives makes it easier to convince people about your narrative...and you do have valid concerns that could be positioned better. So ask yourself what your real goals are that gives you purpose and direction. Us SJW have this, that is what makes our views unequivocal and easier to explain I mean imagine meeting someone at a bar and trying to explain what GG is about ? GG has had short term goals which they have termed operations, that link to the larger goal of ethics in game journalism and (disavowedly) fighting SJ menace.

  15. You know you social justice type really like being **** contrary to your belief that everyone should be good. The original point was about the disparity in how despite both groups being very similar there is only one that has been demonized. As for which site, first it was 4chan /v/ and /pol/ boards and more recently a series of subreddits following an attempt to clean up their image not because of any illegal actions in those places. So you're saying that you only know half the story and won't believe the other side. Glad to know where you stand, that way I can pretty safely assume that this conversation is pointless as you won't accept any other viewpoint. After all, you believe you know.
  16. Freudian slip? Anyway, it wasn't saying something about SJ that got him made fun of. It was his gleeful statement that he didn't know anything about things that someone who claims to be a video game journalist should know about. I think that he could have gotten away with not knowing about these thing but it was the dismissive tone with which he said it. For a lot of people games are a passion and a labor of love, it kind of ****s on them when people undermine them. Look lets be honest here, Moosa in this case is simply a causality of the " GG vs SJW war " that rages seemingly interminably on several forums and websites I see intransigence on both sides and strange and irrational reactions from people. For example why do you guys get irate about articles on sites like Polygon? You don't even like them and generally treat what they say with contempt..yet what they say bothers you ? I don't get it? And people like Moosa seem tasked to just find any SJ inconsistency and lambaste the game, it can be frustrating ....of course this is going to annoy people and as I mentioned he must be prepared to face criticism It's a matter of direction, both sides seem to want the games industry to turn into different things while both are distrustful of each other's intentions. That said, I can't think of an industry that would tolerate a worker that blatantly proclaims to not care about the subject of their work...Maybe the fast food industry. What makes you think that they are tasked with finding SJ inconsistencies? The're games journalists, not social justice journalist and not culture critics. So why would it be their job to make sure that a game is politically correct? Well unfortunately for some people this whole thing has gone too far...now some people are defined by there ideological views and the core subject seems to sometime get lost So take Moosa and his article of W3, he lambasted the game on the lack of racial integration....the actual game gets lost in all the diatribe. If I was Moosa I would have considered where CDPR comes from and the previous Witcher games and then considered if this type of criticism was necessary. Its pushing USA values and expectations to Poland...probably not the right time to do it. Its like the call to remove Hookers from GTAV, its well meaning but utterly misplaced and inconsistent And more importantly it just adds more to the pointless " divide " between gaming journalists and the GG crowd Your post brings hope to my heart and a tear to my eye...which is starting to hurt; you know, like when you haven't used your tear ducts in a while and it just hurts when you do.

  18. It is like saying to the Indians that there is nothing that compels them to stay on the land. The thing is that these webspaces didn't began with those set of morals; they are being pushed, for some that have literally spent years visiting them and have become invested in them such a drastic change is a shock. Also, It really doesn't matter that you don't feel it because there is this awful and wonderful thing called other people that can feel independently from you. For them that have been cast aside by these websites it is a blow to their personhood. And yet that one view has been fairly represented by some journalists, has been given a fair chance by others to be represented free from the narrative and has published, funded projects and gathered information related to video games, journalism and ethics. Its almost like its about that. Don't be disingenuous, you've been reading these forums and probably have seen the evidence in other places as well. Or are you saying that you're arguing from a position of ignorance?

  20. If I can live by myself in one island with all my needs cared for, then my own. Does the island have internet? If not, that would bore me to death. When I said all my needs I mean all my needs.
