I don't know? Where I live, the assumption would be that any citizen would let the police use their house, and if the citizen would disagree, that the police could politely do as they wanted anyway, of course recompensating for any inconvenience. Additionally, most people would rather go to the police than be bullied by any criminal. It's hard and/or pointless to threaten people if you know the stakes are against you, and we can only make this so by acting collectively in support of the law enforcement. So let's say for argument's sake that the police has a right to seize your property in the interest of an investigation. First, they had no authorization and weren't acting according to the law. Secondly, they engaged in coercion, abuse of their authority and other manner of illegal activity just because they couldn't be bothered to either go through proper channels or to search for an alternative. There is also an outstanding amount of case just like this one (and even worse ones) that go either unreported by the victims or that the legal action taken is nothing more than a slap on the wrist. So when the police behave like criminals and the law protects them, is it illegal to defend yourself against them?

I share the same opinion about Tolkien's work. I do prefer the occasional dose of pure black and white morality (as long as it doesn't take itself to seriously) It's a release not having to actually think about it and just enjoy it. Like in Fable when I slaughtered all those town guards that were obviously evil as they tried to arrest me for killing those villagers. If they didn't want to be killed then they shouldn't have asked me why I chased chickens.

Kids master algebra in 40ish minutes through game based learning
Orogun01 replied to alanschu's topic in Computer and Console
If you had me as a math teacher, you would be screwed, I'm terrible with numbers I did use Expedition: Conquistadors this year in class, it worked out pretty well. I've also used Total War clips as unit intros, and I talk about games in my discussions regularly. Whatever keeps them awake My mother used to beat me every time I got something wrong, I was a nervous crying mess during exams but damn it I aced them. Can't argue with results. -
Ranged combat mechanics
Orogun01 replied to Mico Selva's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
You mean that game where you shoot and miss the guy standing just a cell away from you but hit the one that's a 10 cells away? Why yes I have. -
We 3D modelers don't get out much.

Ahh, Shut it!

I generally use the freeform graphite tools that come with Max, with the extend and conform brush I get it done fairly fast. Still doing an optimization is faster than a whole retop and seeing how fast Zbrush is progressing I wouldn't be surprised if retopologizing and UV unwrapping become things of the past.

Do you like BDSM? Sadly enough that's one of the mild cases of police brutality.

You can't plan non-linear processes like writing. Game writing. Yeah you can, it's like one of those Choose your own adventure books.

I regard Beck as the David Bowie from the 90's, the man can tackle several genres with the same level of great talent. Also, Trent Reznor he said fist**** and won a Grammy ...and an Oscar...and a Golden Globe.

Yeah, it's pretty sad when I have to go through these measures just to play a game I bought. But hey, on the bright side, at least this stonewalled the pirates dead in their tracks. Oh wait, no it didn't, it didn't have any effect whatsoever. I guess the silver lining of being forced to use a crack is that I don't even have to turn on Steam to play the game now. Anyway, Playing Jade Empire and loving the **** out of it. I even enjoy the little shmup mini-games. I want a sequel to JE so bad. I'm still in the very early stages, just started chapter 2. I'm looking forward to getting my axes so I can start cleaving chumps up with style. For now I just slice them up with my claws, Enter the Dragon style. I'm pretty much going full on closed fist so I get to be a massive a-hole to everyone. Good times. One thing really jarring about the game is how much crappier the movies look than the rest of the game. I know it's a product of the game getting HD-ified from the original XBox version, while the movies stayed the same, but it's so insanely noticeable that it basically slaps me across the face every time another movie comes up. I really enjoyed Jade Empire. Would love a sequel to it. Doubt it'll happen, though. It was a really novel concept, I really enjoyed the whole wuxia epic novel feel of it. Still I would like it if they fixed the combat system to have a little more depth than what harmonics had to offer with their insta kills. Also despite both philosophies being described as not good or evil, both the closed fist and open palm end up being just that.

Wow, I guess that's the disadvantage of not allowing automatic updates. I'll have to check it out and see how it handles, though now I feel kinda like an idiot since I've been doing a retop on Max for the past few days when I could had it done with Zbrush. I also was under the belief that they weren't going to launch more updates until the released Zbrush5 when did that change? At any rate thanks for the tip.

No, Qremesh is a great tool for quick retopology but its in no way better than actual retopologizing. The Qremesh guide brush is pretty much a guesstimate for were you want to put your quads and small geometry such as fingers or hair is lost because of lack of structural integrity. This in no way makes anything better for the animators who still have to work with a fairly high poly model that has uneven quad distribution and a lot of poles which cause bad deformation. Which makes it difficult to rig the character and screws up the animation completely. In short, that Predator head on your pic still needs to be rettoped before being considered a game ready asset.

Shhh, Wals don't scare it now when it started posting pictures of cute girls. Hey Oby, what can you tell us about the amazons?

This is why I crack all my games.(Except for GOG, no DRM so we're cool)

Is it another propaganda film where the US is the supreme force fighting against the hordes of foreigners that threaten our freedoms. We been getting a lot of those lately, if I didn't know better I would think we're being prepped for a regime.

A sophisticated chap like Wals, it shouldn't be too hard. There's a biker bar in Covington where hookups between biker chicks and non-biker guys are common enough. The drinks are on me if we all split a plane ticket for him! Hmmm, starting a "lil obsidianites slush fund" to pay for things like this might be a good idea. That's what we said when we all thought about getting mail order brides, but that idea also went nowhere.

I get the feeling that a while after his term is over Republicans are going to love the guy, probably they will herald him as the next Reagan.
