  1. Yeah, I know. It's just his self-congratulatory "I thrive on anguish, I'm a serious writer!!" pabulum that is irritating. Dude, you wrote video game tie-ins with the skill of a 12th grader. Get over yourself. As someone who grades a lot of writing, I'd say you are exaggerating greatly. Gaider's work is pretty average for the genre. The genre sucks
  2. At first I was confused about Moffat, but then remembered that the Doctor is now being played by an older man most fan girls will not want to touch themselves thinking about. I love the Internet. You underestimate the Doctor's fangirls, the new Doctor will be sexy like that erotic novel "50 shades of grey hair"
  3. Heh, I'm expecting the exact opposite to happen. Wii sold a lot because it was attractive to many less enthusiastic gamers, I know people who got it just as party toy. I'm not sure they are that eager to swap it to newer model, unless it gets some mega popular party game that they just have to have. They have changed their policies, they are acquiring a lot of third party developers which means exclusives and they have the lowest manufacturing cost. It just feels like they are a safe bet when both Microsoft and Sony are trying to go big and may end up failing big as well.
  4. Maybe it's just the logic of some activated abilities that its wrong, parry mode its an example of it (although one could argue that it signifies a change in stance and intent in the character towards defense) but on the other hand I would think spells are definitively activated (since they're cast) I get the feeling that some of those abilities were made into activated to counter an overall lack of activated abilities in a class. Also, they are a good way to engage the player in combat since their input determines the outcome.
  5. I don't know why but I keep thinking that the WiiU (funniest console name ever, BTW) will come ahead on this gen.
  6. Maria, have you ever considered a career as a loremaster? You'd be good at it
  7. Xbox 360 seemed to be a success, though I don't know how much money they lost because of the "three rings of death" issue. It seems that for every unit they sold they had to replace at it least once, not to mention repeat cases(which explains their earlier losses) . Still, by the end they were on top of the market despite hardware setbacks. But with this current gen they don't have the factors that gave them an edge on the previous one; for one both systems are being release around November with a similar price tag and MS doesn't have enough exclusive titles to tip the scales on their favor. Add to that the scandal over DRM measures, always online, no used games, ect, ect.. which hurt their PR and it seems doomed to failure. Though I think ValueAct might be just fulfilling their own prophecy.
  8. I think yes, since DAI will have a lot to do with the Fade, maybe we'll get the chance to explore the Golden City? Hope they don't use cheap shots like "The Maker is eeeeeeeevil" or something. I dunno, I think it would be interesting to see a game world with a monotheistic religion take on something like the problem of evil. They don't have to make the Maker evil, just have them not be good in the traditional sense I get the sense that most deep themes have already been touched upon in games, nowadays I prefer interactivity or an author's perspective rather than trying to present a theme from all angles. The Maker hasn't been central to any of the games yet, I'm kind of against demystifying especially something that hasn't given the proper treatment. The Fade hasn't been explained either, I'm just hoping they steer away from the lazy "usual suspects" explanations. Such as the collective unconscious or something like that.
  9. Just your regular capitalists, Vol. Though I certainly can see it from their perspective; the Xbox reveal was a failure, they haven't secured as many exclusives, it overall looks like Microsoft gaming division is the weakest. So I kind of find it difficult to argue with their logic of diverting resources from what is essentially a drain.
  10. For some reason I read that as Danny Glover. In which case I would agree that he is getting too old for that ****.
  11. Aren't console gamers already paying a monthly fee to get playing online at all? God bless those morons for they are keeping the game industry from prolapsing into its own anus.
  12. Funny how everyone seems to judge Affleck by his earlier mistakes rather than his recent successes, The Town and Argo, plus the man did a good job in both State of Play and the Sum of All your Fears. I have never watched Gigli but it must really suck balls if everyone ignores everything good that this man has been in.
  13. Does anyone else gets the impression that people in the entertainment industry are full of hot air and make big deals from nothing? Edit: I disagree with everything that article said about creating characters.
  14. Expect a few more hiccups like that, also I hope that you're not anal about completing objectives otherwise you're in for a world of pain.
  15. I think it was an example of capitalism gone awry, cutting costs, hidden deals and bribes which in the end resulted in a disaster. Plus the fine they had to pay was so low that they even felt bad about so they donated a bunch of money instead. (It could just be a PR move, though) At this point with so many good FTP MMOs one has to question the value in adopting a subscription based model.
  16. I think we have firmly established that David Gaider is a fantasy writer.
  17. I like Alpha Protocol, but also think reviewers had every reason to hammer it. I agree that AP was flawed but I also feel that reviewers nowadays have peculiar tastes. An average game which would be a 6 or a 7 is no longer good it needs to be a 9 or a 10, which ends up with lots of overblown reviews (both positive and negative) all because the rating scale seems to have changed. AP is a 6 a good game with flaws but that its carried by strength of its charm, but apparently modern game journalism has nothing but contempt for cult classic, unless its some "hipstery" attempt at edginess.
  18. Guardians of the Galaxy is the best Marvel comic that no one seems to know about. Also, Ben Affleck can't be any worse than Clooney although if they cast Matt as Robin we're in for a treat.
  19. That was disturbing, I might actually get nightmares...not joking.
  20. I'm confused what are the pro's and cons of using heatmaps on games, and particularly on PE?
