  1. This kiddies is a red herring, where the poster purposely ignores the main point in his/her response and starts to wax poetic about something completely irrelevant in order to support his post. We are arguing Dragon Age Vol, not Baldur's Gate.
  2. You sold me on it.
  3. I could beat the game (easily, mind you, far easier than any other make-up) with four mages. I thought that there were only 3 possible mages? Although you can beat the game with only 2 easily, let alone 3. Hell with Arcane Warrior, mages were better fighters than Warriors. Bio really screwed the pooch with balance there. I let that slide because it ties with the in game concern people show with mages being dangerous. I'd say that what made warriors redundant was their inefficiency at controlling aggro, warriors were poorly done in DA:O.
  4. Truly the words of a Bioware's fan.
  5. I get the feeling that if the Dragon Age franchise continues on its going to turn into Highlander at some point
  6. I don't know what you're talking about, I'm having a great chat with this here floating eye intestine that's been following me around since yesterday.
  7. Great sculpt (fingers a little too long) I must confess that I've spent so much time sculpting that now one of the attributes I look for in a girl is good topology. Show us your wireframe ladies!
  8. They did, it just wasn't typically from the same person (typically they were cross-class combos). I remember setting up Merrill to use chain lightning on any target that suffered from a particular condition, since I specc'd her ability to do bonus damage against people suffering from that ailment. Those were cross-class combos, differently named than spell combos which involved combining 2 or 3 spells into another one and could only be done with mages on DA:O. Example: Freezing an enemy and using a smash type of attack with a warrior will result in massive damage or death unless the enemy passes a check that's a cross class, using Grease and a Fire type spell (not necessarily from the same person)that resulted in a Grease Fire was a a spell combo. Which meant that with prior knowledge you could build your mages abilites so that they complimented each other with combos. But "build" was apparently a dirty word around the DA2 team since they COD crowd doesn't believe on min maxing.
  9. I found DA2 combat bothersome because at earlier levels there isn't enough abilities to actually have a strategy and they don't mesh well with the companion's.So it's just like dao in that sense? Yep Edit: Worth pointing out that DA2 didn't have spell combos.
  10. I found DA2 combat bothersome because at earlier levels there isn't enough abilities to actually have a strategy and they don't mesh well with the companion's. At higher levels this become less of a problem, but since abilities are mostly wasted fighting the first wave of enemies you are left waiting for the cooldowns. In the end classes in DA are restrictive and there isn't much potential for teamwork. I didn't really found myself overly thinking about strategy on DA2, it was mostly aiming an AOE, moving players around and the occasional potion. Its good that you had fun with the combat but I wouldn't go so far as to call it deep.
  11. Don't give up on drinking yet, you're still not at rock bottom.
  12. I think I will use that quote when trying to explain idiot-proofing.
  13. Whenever you think of a solution that involves optimizing or developing a different mechanic for PC remember that publishers don't care about PC ports and they are not likely to waste money on it. Probably, the reasons why they still do is because its inexpensive and can get them a few more bucks, and so the game gets pirated and they have something to blame low sales.
  14. People who aren't willing to work on something do not deserve the rewards. Also, I stuck a monolith next to the target audience and they threw a bone into the air that turned into a spaceship. They're primates.
  15. But that's just it, DA2 is not an action game or if it is then its a very bad one. Action games require a certain amount of skill and in the cases of action/rpg a bit of strategy, with DA2 it was just the same combat design from an isometric game but even more simplified, animated at a high speed and with more particle effects.
  16. There are so many things that could go wrong in game development that just pinning down to 2 reasons seems... rushed and lazy Basically it can be one of those chaos theory scenarios where a small problem at the beginning stages of planning completely screws over the whole game.
  17. It certainly lacked the depth from tabletop systems. Hopefully with exploration they'll integrate them as part of the abilities tree.
  18. Unless it has been stamped with a smiley cloud its not official.
  19. I don't get popular notions sometimes, apparently Russians are bad but communism and revolution are good?
  20. I thought this thread was going to be pictures of weapons and armor wearing monocles and drinking tea. Shame. Also, making certain items taboo might be a bit restricting. A set of bonuses and specializations based around items related to cultural backgrounds sounds better in my mind.
  21. Your point makes no sense. And yes I have several gay friends, some of them are conservative around there sexual orientation and some of them are flamboyant. I have no issue with either mannerism as I believe people should be who they are. Its the same when I go out with my gay friends that I don't pretend to be gay. Why should a gay person not be who he is? But once again I am confused by what you are saying. Do you really think that optional gay Romance in Bioware games is "stuffing it down your throat" or "drowning me in there way of life". I assume you have played Bioware games so you know that any Romance is not mandatory. You must know this yet you still feel they are somehow forcing you to be part of something that you don't have to be part of. And you have an issue with it just because Bioware is choosing to be inclusive of there fan base And you still say " you have no issue with gay people". Really, because from where I'm sitting that's not what it looks like? So in other words, if someone isn't enthusiastic about party NPC's being homosexual he's Hitler's and satan's offspring? Nah, Hitler and Satan getting it on its pretty gay. Can someone plz post something relevant to DA.? Preferably not gay related
  22. The counterpoint is also quite sound, basically since its fictional it falls under arbitrary judgement whether if its inappropriate or not. So whilst you feel that rape is worse than murder someone else feels that murder is a bad thing and shouldn't be glorified. Which is quite true from a moral point of view, but the fact is that since we can't quantify feelings there is no real way of saying whether rape is worse than murder. So the line has been drawn at the point of actual real violence and whether something hurts and actual being, which isn't the case with digital characters.
