Dragon Age: Inquisition
I thought the Templars were the anti-mage faction in this, and that they split from The Chantry because they thought that it wasn't hard enough with the mages? And if I remember correctly, although the Inquisition in this game was reborn thanks to the Chantry, it's actually very independant. Having a mage in such an organization doesn't seem far-fetched. Yeah, but each origin had a different name. When did this all happen and where the hell was I?

Dragon Age: Inquisition
So no one should be offended when somebody makes a fictional work where the righteous Nazis defend themselves against the hordes of invading Jews and their allies the **** just because in that fictional world those terms have different connotations. Apparently communication doesn't matter I'll say one thing mean another and write it in another language: "Eres un tipo suave"

The (hopefully) attractive men thread
Studies have shown that women prefer men with feminine faces unless they're ovulating in which case they prefer manlier men because they have indicators of higher testosterone which they need in order to counteract their rising levels of estrogen. So science has finally proven that women are self absorbed, selfish creatures that only like you when they need something from you.

Dragon Age: Inquisition
So you don't even get to pick a class or will the Chantry somehow allow a mage on their service? you don't even know what you don't know. The inquisition has nothing to do with the chantry; it's an independant organization looking into what is the true cause of the chaos going on. No wardens, no chantry, no mages, no templars no governments are behind it. So it's a separate entity from the Chantry, why the **** do they call it the Inquisition then? I swear BW's writing has gotten to levels of bad fanfiction.

Project Eternity's longevity will be determined by its modability
Orogun01 replied to Death Machine Miyagi's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)DA:O mod tool was overly complex and with limited uses, so it's no wonder that the community gave up. There is still more mods out there for DA:O than DA2 so that should count for something. I agree that modability extends the life of a game; there are people still putting out mods for Stalker, but it also depends on the quality of the mods how much support went into nourishing the community. TES has a very healthy modding community since Bethesda relies on them for making their games (and I do mean that) I don't know what the devs have said about modding support for PE. We'll see after the game comes out.

How do you prefer writers to handle action descriptions / narrative in dialogue mode?
I don't mind either style as long as there is a logic to the presentation of the choices, meaning that I get what I choose not a different line of dialog (e.g: ME, DA2)

What you did today
Har. Never really traveled much around the place, only there a few years. But general rule for us is : Do not trust us. I think that rule extends to the rest of the Caribean and probably most of South America, and by most I meant all.

Evil - how far should PE go?
This is a strange point in games since we cannot but project our modern ideals into the game world. So in a world where slavery is perfectly normal and even considered to be a virtue (such as Ancient Rome) it wouldn't be evil to have a positive stance towards slavery but the option will most likely present itself as an evil one. On the other hand there is only so much that a game can immerse you without a cultural clash, so its really up to the writers to plan ahead and anticipate how will it be perceived by the player. With the proper in game context slavery could pass as a neutral or positive choice.

Between story and freedom - how to combine
Orogun01 replied to Samurai Sanjuro's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Good point but I feel as though you are underestimating the importance of context and themes in games. To borrow from one of your examples; In DE: HR you could throughout the whole game be a corporate drone or a bitter aug, so when the three endings are presented to you there is context in which to base your decision on. You can always work your way so that one ending is the logical conclusion or three as long as the plot has been properly led there. BW's Mass Effect ending is based upon a giant Deus Ex Machina (quite literary) which is never properly explained or demystified. Throughout the game you are gathering resources with the sole purpose of using the Crucible to end the Reapers at some point whilst you were doing that it would have probably been prudent and logical to explain what the Crucible does. Instead the chose to dump all the info at once without any real explanation just the fact that you're supposed to take what this machine does at face value. Also, if you are discussing how gameplay affect endings it may be of some relevance to argue the different mechanics of how its implemented. For example there is the completion rate upon which you may get the good or bad ending (e.g: ME2, ME3) Faction relations (Alpha Protocol) or unmarked quest completions (PS:T)

Kerry's Israeli/Palestinian peace talks
That's basically what I said as well, but if you would like any creds™ for your prediction maybe you should be more specific in how these talks will fail to accomplish anything? Same way as ever, unreasonable demands met with firm opposition and an unwillingness to compromise.

I'll admit, Ryan Gosling is definitely sexy. Like a rainbow fish and with the same level of charisma.

Evil - how far should PE go?
I will defend the use of unkillable NPCs on Skyrim because of the dragon/vampire attacks, it would be annoying if you were cut from the game through no actions of your own.

Dragon Age: Inquisition
I'm not sure I was making an 'argument'?? But I think we shouldn't count the extra year porting consoles not because it runs contrary to anything I'm trying to prove, but because it is - imho - the best way of comparing apples to apples. The reason we all say "oooooh DA:O took A WHOLE 6 YEARS to make" (and that's A BAD THING) is because we reference - for example - Fallout New Vegas which took only 2 years. However if one of those developers runs their key development tasks (platforms) concurrently (Obsidian) and the other in sequence (BioWare) then the comparison of 2:6 is not meaningful. If FO:NV had been developed with the same methodology as DA:O then it would have taken 3 years not 2. So if we want a valid comparison we should either assume Obsidian had adopted an 'in sequence' approach and add 1 year or assume that BioWare adopted an 'in parallel' approach and deduct 1 year. Ideally we should also add a few years to Obsidian for having an engine and assets already made by Bethesda, and measure it all in man hours, but that might be getting a little silly Irregardless of the schedule money its still being paid to employees during the development of ports, if you want to compare their production pipelines then you should do that. As far as the developers and the publisher is concerned they are still working. That's the only reason I'm giving you a hard time over your statement. Now if you want to argue whether the gap between production and publishing should count that's another matter.
