Journalism and sexism in the games industry

Because they aren't progressives, they're authoritarians first and foremost. Oh gods yes. Seeing GG/ antiGG portrayed as being right v left makes me, as someone who is pretty far left by most measures, grind my teeth. Wanting to tell other people how to think and how to act is independent of the right/ left dichotomy- you have the classic leftist SJW (or 'cultural marxist', though I dislike that term precisely because of its overt politicisation) as well as the classic old enemy of the rightist Moral Majority, they may be almost diametrically opposed in terms of the left/right divide but they're both authoritarian and use arbitrary yardsticks to determine morality. And, of course, both groups hate games like GTA about evenly though for slightly differing baseline reasons. Well you're problem is that your're not left enough that your'e in the right. -
I figured it out... Why RPGs seem to be going down hill.

To be fair to those people, it is ****ing stupid when my character can't hit a giant rat that's been turned legs up. -

Fingers crossed for mass SJW drownings...I probably shouldn't have said that. Hope everyone is fine, even if don't like them and they want to ruin video games. -

That's actually the origin from Roman poet Ovid. The original Greek myth involved three sisters monsters*, Medusa being the only mortal one. Each were with snake hairs, boar tusks, wings, etc and could petrify at a glance (they were children of Phorcys and Ceto and counted the Graeae as sisters). By 490 BC, Medusa began being described as beautiful and deadly (a relief described her as "fair cheeked") with Ovid giving the rape origin in 8 AD. Since Medusa's head is on Athena's Aegis, the general thought is that both are adopted from another pantheon early in Greek culture at some point and may have a completely different original origin somewhere in the mists of time. *"monsters" who, in their main story with Perseus, are hidden on an island so hard to find Perseus has to steal the Graeae's eye and blackmail them to find the location; he then uses gifts from the gods to kill her in her sleep and fly away to rescue his love, so no less problematic than Ovids... The gods of the previous culture become the monsters of the next one, similar thing with Baphomet. I do wonder how many snake cults were in antiquity that everyone seems to have a story about snake gods or monsters. -

Pure Gold. I'm I the only one bothered by how ignorant this person is of Greek mythology? If they actually wanted to criticize Medusa they would had brought out the fact that her origin story is that she was raped by Poseidon and then Athena cursed her because of victim blaming. -

"Political power grows out of the barrel of a gun." - Mao Zedong A lot of people fail to realize just what this means... Vals can you respond to my question so you don't keep making accusations against me " do you think Al-Qaeda committed 9/11" ? Well, since we're on the subject. http://community.seattletimes.nwsource.com/archive/?date=19930227&slug=1687698 -

I can't speak for anyone other than myself, but I've broadened my horizons, yes. Censorship is a cancer eating away at freedom and I say down with the sickness! Sorry, that was cheesy, it was the best "humorous" Disturbed reference I could come up with. Couldn't even do the more obscure dropping plates could ya? But yes we should stop them before they stupify more people. -
Metal Gear 4 was supposed to be the last...then it turned out that it was only going to be the last game starring Solid Snake and here we are one Raiden and 4 Big Bosses later.

Because I didn't watch that video.

Heathen, you're going to hell for it. Take the chance to redeem by romancing Gat while you're in it.

I'd like to add to this that the Australian market has always been a problematic one and that developers have changed their games just to be distributed on Australia. Maybe this will the final coffin nail for Au. I mean, just how big is the Australian market? On a related note; poor Yatzhee won't be getting anymore games. -

The link really undermines the neutrality of the article. They are right in saying that Target has a say in what they sell on their stores just like the consumer can go elsewhere where the game is sold. The article has its leftist leaning but for the most part it makes its point well, inadvertently offers some suggestions (some which have already been put into action) and remains unoffensive. Which is a bit bothering because it leaves me without someone to blame as well. I somehow wonder if they would've written a similar article if Gone Home was banned because of homosexual material. Probably not but since i'm not a leftist I'm not ruled by emotions but pragmatism. -

I'm beginning to think that the whole thing with the sword might have something to do with the fact that we can't complain that the sheriff is near.

I don't like it, I don't like when women do it but some women can pull it off.

Yeah. It's a Korean MMO called Black Desert, most likely it will never see the light of day out west. Well the solution is simple, we all learn Korean.

If you examine any issue there is almost never a singular cause. Its a domino effect of a variety of things that fall together to form the pattern we see, which is why I don't address cause in general in my prior statements. Knowing that its not the root problem doesn't mean that we shouldn't try to prevent the "symptoms". And honestly a lot of people need to learn that being asked for things you've said you'd deliver isn't harassment in and of itself (otherwise, bosses the world over are harassing their employees); just as harassment is a problem claiming harassment to avoid the consequences of ones actions is also a problem. Well, i have to concede that terms like personal responsibility and good parenting are quite broad statements as well. They might encompass the problem described, they might not, depending on how they are defined. Actually If they are moral or savvy they might realize that it would make them complicit on a crime. If someone was to brought fraud charges against the developer they might be drawn in because they profited from it. I don't know if this is a nice thing to say but: Fingers Crossed. -

There's some controversy regarding the page and the moderators who are pro-corruption and Jimmy Wales doesn't seem to believe there's anything going on. -
Hey Amentep, have you ever told anyone that you're a cinephile and then they look at you like you're some kind of pervert?
