  1. As I've mentioned before, the LotR movies, I reckon, had a nice balance between realism & practicality and fantasy look.
  2. Aye, stagger would be a good idea. But that description is more of an example, with some the numbers chosen arbitrarily - just wanted to provide an example with various mechanics involved. As for the longbows - definitely, that's the way bows worked in IE games. I'll be adding some thoughts on shields tomorrow.
  3. Expanding on the idea, here's an example of a full weapon description (it's mainly abstract) : Claymore of Eír Glanfath Type : Greatsword. Training required : Yes. Damage type : Slashing and Crushing. Damage dealt : 10 + 2d10. Speed : Slow. Reach : Moderate. Critical Effect : 200% more damage on critical hits and a 5% chance to dismember the foe, resulting in an instant death. Armour Boni : +5 against cloth, leather and chain armour. Armour Mali : None. Perks : a) Harder to parry against. b) Tiring to use. Attack chains : a) Parry - Disarm. b) Pommel Strike - Eviscerate. Just an example of different weapon statistics that could be used in PE.
  4. That was a good read, thanks. Some interesting details about combat.
  5. Is this : http://forums.obsidian.net/topic/60371-narrated-sequences-instead-of-cutscenes-lets-use-our-imagination-again/page__st__60#entry1199801 worth it in your opinion?
  6. Any more feedback on that? http://forums.obsidian.net/topic/60371-narrated-sequences-instead-of-cutscenes-lets-use-our-imagination-again/page__st__60#entry1199801
  7. Or better yet, release a mockup showing people what their vision for the game is. Shadow Returns developers did that :
  8. I'd love it if they got Rodger Bumpass (Kelemvor and the Narrator in MotB) - he probably isn't that expensive too.
  9. Yes, it can. They can make it look like this, for an instance :
  10. I agree, I really like those designs. It's fantasy, but at the same time it looks fairly practical.
  11. If W2's development history is anything to go by, we could see first (very early) screenshots of PE in a few months.
  12. Any thoughts on the narrated sequences for regions I've described in my previous post?
  13. Then only problem with Unity that I can see is that I don't think any "major" game was done with it. But if Obsidian programmers feel that it offers everything they need and can get the job done, no reason to doubt them. And I'm guessing W2 and PE teams will help each other out, so that's a big bonus - I intend to play both
  14. Um, that's what Wasteland 2 look like. PE will look like however Obsidian decides they want it to look like. Yeah, as I understand it PE can look dramatically different, to a point it won't resemble that W2 video at all.
