No, our entire review crew run games on ATI without problems. It's just a popular excuse to blame everything that happens in a game on ATI for some reason. I have a feeling it's mostly **** behind the keyboard though.

I'm pretty psyched up about Alexander Steen myself.. probably mostly because he's plaing for my team.. but also because he's been doing real good so far in the season. Of course, I'm always impressed by Ovechkin whenever I get to see (or hear! grr) him play, but I guess everyone is so that's not exactly news. I used to watch Tuomo Ruuttu's older brother when he played in the Swedish Elite League. Those are two tough boys, those Ruuttu brothers.

I'm not saying there aren't any good games on consoles. I am saying thare are too few brainteasers among the games currently available. I have not tried Xenosaga, but I did play Digital Devil Saga and I must say that running around in corridors in a forest (like you do in the beginning of one of them) with random encounters every third step you take is just not my cup of tea. Also, those spinning 'wheels' in combat..? If you hit the button at the exact right time your character hits harder in combat? Didn't like that either (although I am aware that you could turn that feature off). And I'm frankly sick of japanese stories with all their demons and spiky haired teens who can jump on top of houses and such. I wish they could make a 'normal' RPG with a more down-to-earth story where not everyone can turn into a demon or look like a pedophiles wet dream.

Well, for starters, I've played both Fallout and Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel.. Or Baldur's Gate and Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance.. Or Wasteland compared to.. whatever. Or Deus Ex compared to.. uh.. the Deus Ex on Playstation 2. I don't think it's nostalgia talking. Games used to require brains (Bard's Tale 3 comes to mind..) instead of mostly tactics (turn based) or quick fingers (twitch). I really miss the games that tested your wit and problem solving skills too. Could you direct me to some of these more complex and indepth titles? Because I am having a tough time finding them. I have a Playstation 2.

If you miss Bure, take a long hard look at Kovalchuk. Or Ovechkin (but then you'll have to watch the abysmal Washington..).

Consoles is a great idea gone bad. The great part about it is the idea of giving everyone a chance to buy top of the line technology at a fair price, and of course giving developers a chance to develop their games for one setup only. What I dont understand though is why games on consoles in general feel 'dumbed down' compared to the games I grew up with on the C64 or PC. I'm not sure it's because of the consoles, but it feels like it started when the NES came out, with its simplistic controllers. The dumbing down bit is actually the only thing I dislike about consoles.

Supposedly there's another channel about to start showing NHL in Europe. With a little luck it's a bit cheaper (and more worthwhile) than Canal +. I don't mind the radio but I sure do miss sitting up with a couple of friends watching the games.

Actually, they do broadcast a lot of them over here. It's just that it's one of the most expensive channels of all that broadcasts them. Canal +, which is 299:- per month (that's ~$37 per month). They broadcast a lot of movies and a lot of porn and football, but all I want is the NHL.. Also, when you sign up for them you have to sign up for a whole year. I only want the NHL season. Oh well.

Fifa Soccer 2005 on Playstation: Fifa 2001 on Playstation 2 (launch title): I tried to find as similar situations in the pictures as I could. Leafs won but it doesn't look good. Even when Mats comes back, I think they will have a lot of problems. Lindros is definitely off his hot streak, Belfour is uneven, the defense is nonexistant, and all the energy previously found in "the Kid Line" has been wasted on pure defense in the last couple of games. Some retailers had even bundled the Xbox 360 and Oblivion for a launch package. It will probably not affect the Xbox 360 in the long term, but on launch day it will have an impact, I am sure. Edit: Spelling..
