I own a Nokia N-Gage The good thing is that it was given to me by Nokia because they desperately wanted us to review their games. The bad thing is that the beast weighs like half a brick, is ugly as hell and is the lowest quality phone ever made (half the buttons fell off after a week, and half the phone is made of grey rubber..). Oh, and I never reviewed a game for it that got more than 5/10.

And $300 is what the PhysX PPU is going to cost us all..

Why are there no good post apocalyptic RPG's with toolsets out there?

I agree with almost everything you write, Kasoroth, except the thing about the meta-gaming. I immersed myself in the world of Oblivion, I spent my time exploring dungeons I ran into out in the field and I did everything from really stupid quests (fisherman only needs 12 more fish scales to retire!) to really cool quests (guy trapped in his own painting). Not even once did I think about or worry about if I got 3 or 15 attribute points. At level 40+ all my major attributes had reached 100 anyhow, and with the sigil stones my equipment is as good as I ever need it to be. I know the system is flawed (especially leveling and scaling) but the game is still awesome if you just let yourself have fun instead of worry about the next level or bonus to attributes. That stuff takes care of itself if you just play the game (except, perhaps the mana-linked-to-intelligence issue, which is solvable by applying +50 magicka sigil stones to your armour). Also, it's funny to see lots of people on these boards (not you Kasoroth) who ridicule and mock people who meta-game in other games, but feel forced to do it in Oblivion. Powergaming and ph4t 1007 for teh win!!

Woah, intoxicate sounds like.. important and stuff Thanks for the info! I sure needed it, because I haven't gotten it (the website) to work even once so far.

I'm supposed to be getting Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter for the PC one of these days. I've heard there's co-op in it! ) Haven't gotten it yet though.

Dragon Quest 8 actually has two endings, and the second one is even better (at least more fulfilling) than the first one. And after that second ending there's a few hours more of playtime.. lots of hours if you're an insane japanese powergamer. I'm not sure the draconian quests are even beatable.

New update! Full Auto 2: Battlelines for the Playstation 3. I have absolutely no idea what it is, but it sounds cool )

Why are you making this great game sound like work?

I like Asus. Their motherboards are usually good for overclockers with their user friendly bios. I'd suggest something like this for the motherboard: http://www.malabs.com/product.asp?product_...b&pass=&shopid= To be honest, I don't know anything about the onboard sound on it, but the other components look good. It supports SATA2 also, which is a good thing. Since you never mentioned a budget, I'll assume you're human and can't buy the AMD FX-60 (which is the obvious choice if you're made of money). Good CPU for the smaller budget: AMD Athlon 3700+ (1 MB cache) http://www.malabs.com/product.asp?product_...b&pass=&shopid= Good CPU for the medium budget: AMD Athlon X2 4400+ (2 MB cache) http://www.malabs.com/product.asp?product_...b&pass=&shopid= The best CPU for the HAHAHA-ALL-THE-WAY-TO-THE-BANK budget: Athlon FX-60 http://www.malabs.com/product.asp?product_...b&pass=&shopid= For the video card, I'd suggest this one: ATI Radeon X1800GTO 256MB http://www.malabs.com/product.asp?product_...b&pass=&shopid= I bought that for my cousin the other week and even though it's not very pricey, it's performance these last few days has impressed the hell out of me. It cost like 60% of my Nvidia 7800 GS, but performs about equally! I've tried it with FEAR, Battlefield 2, Oblivion and in FEAR it detected maximum settings on everything automatically and when we ran the built-in performance test, it averaged 50+ fps and never went below 30! It also runs Oblivion very well. The only problem with it is that it's so new. That means it would be difficult to find a master card if you'd want to take advantage of Crossfire (ATI's version of multi-GPU's, supported in the motherboard I suggested above), although that's sure to change in time.

Totally unmotivated rant: Ok, I just read the transcript. My intentions when coming to this thread was to make fun of you nerds, but after reading through it all, it actually seemed like a lot of fun. Baley seemed to be a problem early on, but he got a lot better at staying in character as the game went on. Eldar is dry as a martini on the boards (no offence intended) but as a dungeon master he's calm and relaxed and probably one of the few person on this earth that could handle a gang like that. The Brainless Twins (Nick/Llyr) are just as stupid in the game as they are on these boards, but in the game it seems to work. Unlike their presence on the boards, in the game they're actually funny. Sometimes. Horace and Arcalis are probably seasoned RPG'ers as they looked totally in control. Anyhow, even though I'm in no way connected to the game, it'll be fun to read the further adventures of the Talentless Bunch & **** Boy.

Crap. No new games for today it seems. Perhaps they're taking a break during the weekend? Anyhow, have you noticed the kingly guy with the armour and sword in the background on that E3 page? Is that some sort of artwork from one of their upcoming so-far-unnanounced titles perhaps..? It's weird in any case.

Since when are the developers doing websites? Or is the real question: how dumb can one get?

Pretty cute.. for an asian.

I thought it sounded interesting for an Action RPG. I mean, it sure does sound different. But why Xbox 360 only?

Yeah, well, I really hope it's nothing like Outrun 2 myself. While Outrun 2 is great with its arcadey feel, I really want slightly more of a simulation feel in my rally games. If they've managed to steal away some of the Colin boys, then that's great because it seems getting that "feel like you're in total control of your car" thing going seems to be a problem for most developers. Colin and Xpand Rally are the only two games I've got that feeling from lately. Oh, and of course Richard Burns Rally, although that's too far into the simulation field for my taste. It's too damn difficult! Edit: 34 minutes until the next game is revealed! Woo!

You'd get it disgustingly drunk and fruitlessly try feel it up while it's barfing in your face?

There are different kinds of memory modules though. GDDR3 is MUCH faster than DDR or even GDDR2. A GPU with 512 MB GDDR2 is actually slower than the same GPU with 128 MB GDDR3. Also, unless you're going to use very high resolutions, you don't really need more than 256 MB anyhow (some say 128 MB). Having a lot of memory for your CPU often has more of an impact than having lots of memory for your GPU. Type of memory matters more.

Baldur's gate: Dark Alliance absolutely sucks in single player. In co-op I usually recommend it to people. It's a schizophrenic game.
-
Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance took way more than 10 hours for me to complete. Mostly because I only played it with a friend and we spent most of the time pulling the screen in opposite directions..

The only advantage the 6100 holds over the X700 is the fact that it supports Shader Model 3.0 (as all Nvidia cards of generation 6 or above does). That doesn't matter much though, since its performance is much worse than the X700. You'll get "better" graphics from the X700 even though it only supports Shader Model 2.0. Better as in higher framerates, higher resolutions and such.
