This actually looks great: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-zT9yL0cI1E http://kck.st/1W4453f Everspace, a rogue-like space game using Unreal 4. It shows, it looks gorgeous.

I bought Victor Vran recently and have been playing that. Excellent little action RPG! It reminds me a lot of the Van Helsing games (which I also own), but with a few new twists. The maps now all have a few different challenges. They're not mandatory in any way, but they're mostly kind of fun (kill 80 enemies within 360 seconds, kill 50 enemies without taking damage, kill 40 enemies using only melee, etc). All maps so far seem to have secrets to find too, and they have been a lot of fun to try to find. Other than that, it's a solid action RPG. Lots of loot, lots of enemies, lots of bosses. Not so much story or dialogue or decisions to make.

The great thing about Bethesda is that they're improving. I liked Daggerfall, but it was a pretty crappy game. I hated Morrowind (came out at the same time as Gothic, so I might have been influenced by that). I kind of enjoyed Oblivion, although the level scaling nearly killed it for me. Skyrim is definitely their best attempt yet. They've only done one Fallout game so far, but I fully expect them to improve and expand upon it in Fallout 4. Only a few more months now!

Really? You're bashing an unreleased game based on an another, old game on low settings?
-
So you are telling me that something I think is great is not so great? What exactly are you trying to achieve here?

Loong article about Fallout 4 on Gameinformer: http://www.gameinformer.com/games/fallout_4/b/playstation4/archive/2015/07/26/fallout-4-quakecon-presentation.aspx Pretty interesting. Sounds like combat will be better this time around. The screenshots also look great (I love long view distances). Let's hope they've managed to keep the Genome loading times (loading/saving a game took less than a second on my system!). It's hard to believe this game is supposed to come out on November 10. I love when they announce almost completed games!

The Weird, Random, and Interesting things that Fit Nowhere Else Thread
mkreku replied to Blarghagh's topic in Way Off-Topic
Interesting article on the economic state of the US compared to other nations (among them socialist Sweden): http://www.nytimes.com/2014/04/23/upshot/the-american-middle-class-is-no-longer-the-worlds-richest.html Tl;dr: The US is still one of the richest countries, but (almost) only because the top 5 percentile are so disgustingly rich, which skews the average. The poor in the US are poorer than in a lot of other western nations. -
So weird. I wonder if Obsidian had anything to do with it?
-
It's around 820€ in Sweden. Weird, I always assumed Sweden was the most expensive since we have a lot of (lovely, lovely) taxes.

I'm disappointed in you, Hurl. You're usually a better poster than that. Actually, it's becoming a theme.

Source: http://www.engadget.com/2015/07/14/commodore-phone/ It's a phone. A mid-range phone at that. BUT NOSTALGIA!

I got a mail that my $125 pledge went through. Funny thing is, I have no idea what that bought me. Guess I'm in for a surprise in a few.. years. Oh crap.

It looks excellent. But being a PS4 exclusive.. not so excellent. I'll still keep an eye out. I did get an Xbox 360, after all, even though I must have spent less than 100 hours total playing games on it. Reminds me.. I really should get back to Dragon's Dogma one of these days.

I've actually been playing a free-to-play game lately. Well, play might actually be a bit of a stretch.. Clicker Heroes! It's a game about.. uh.. clicking rapidly on evil potatoes and stuff. You gain money by defeating them and can buy bigger heroes that click harder.. and meet evil potato senior that you defeat for even more money.. and so on for all eternity. There are some other small quirks like, the heroes have skills you can buy, you have 3-4 slots for equipment, you can be reborn with greater powers and you can randomly gild your heroes (they do 50% more damage when gilded), you meet bosses every 10 levels with big bosses every 100 levels, etc. But it's not exactly a deep game. You honestly do nothing except click on enemies. And it's still pretty fun. It handles itself if you leave it running, so I have it on my laptop. When I get home from work, the bank account is usually full so I can buy new heroes and advance a few levels. I'm up to level 450 or something, which actually requires a bit of thinking to reach. When I get home today I hope I'll be able to afford Atlas (next hero in my list)..

Dragon Age: Inquisition vs The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
mkreku replied to ktchong's topic in Computer and Console
That's actually exactly it. I overestimated you. It won't happen again. Malc got it. That's enough. Have fun with your Playboy and Hooters. -
It actually might be up to a 10% hit on performance, seeing as AF is bandwidth intensive and it just gets worse at these extreme resolutions. Fury X excels in bandwidth so maybe Nvidia was trying to win some back in an area where they know AMD is better? Just speculating.

I like how you are a white knight if you think sex scenes are dumb in video games. Gromnir the White Knight! This is a fantasy game where you fight monsters, swing swords around, and sleep with gorgeous women. There is nothing wrong with that, but don't try and fool yourself into thinking it is more than that. Next you are going to tell us you read Playboy for the great articles and go to Hooters for the delicious wings. Bioware isn't any better at this either, they just try to tap into the girlish fantasy scenarios by making you romance a bit before you get the obligatory sex scene. They are both dumb and fairly unimportant to the gameplay or story. Did you stop wearing a helmet? This post is below you. No, you don't have to be a SJW if you dislike sex scenes. But it's one way to express your SJW stance, among many others. As I'm sure you know. I stopped reading Gromnir's posts a long time ago, I have no idea what his over-aged, slightly tragic internet persona stands for nowadays. Yeah, just a game about swinging swords.. and Shindler's List is a movie about a guy transporting people from one place to another. I'm sorry you feel this way as I'm sure you'd be able to appreciate the story more if you were able to comprehend it. And I would read Playboy if they had the best articles. I would go to Hooters if they had the best wings. Which is kind of the point I was making in my first post.. about maturity. You will not get it. -
And for anyone wondering why some people are raving about decades old games but are put off by the basic graphics, check this out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2VlYS9HVWv8 They are still working on improving Gothic 2. Makes me want to reinstall it again.

I just saw the prices for the Fury X here in Sweden: $900+. **** that. For reference, the GTX980Ti (a card that's better in almost every aspect) goes for around $950. Actually, **** that too.

Dragon Age: Inquisition vs The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

Bull. It's there because sex sells. Really? I was under the impression that most game developers steered clear of anything even resembling sex in games because the big retailers (in America) would simply refuse to sell the game altogether. 18+ rating or whatever it's called. But feel free to explain your reasoning as to why almost noone except CD Project Red dares touch the subject. -
I love how Piranha Bytes continues the great European trend of "good games with unsellable names". ELEX. It's short for Eclectic, Lavish, Exhilarating and Xenial. Really. I'll still buy it of course, as the sucker I am.

Dragon Age: Inquisition vs The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
mkreku replied to ktchong's topic in Computer and Console
I played The Witcher and didn't like it at all. Never finished it. I played The Witcher 2 and I got pretty far (maybe even finished, not sure), but I didn't really like that either. Except for the graphics. The Witcher 3, however.. It's not at all like the previous chapters in the series. It's still the same world and the same main character, but the storytelling, quest design and game world have evolved hugely. It's a better game in every aspect and it's actually quite intriguing to see how fast CD Project Red are growing as developers. The weird thing is that despite the technical marvel and artistic grandeur, I'm still the most impressed by the writing. I dislike Bioware products with a passion because of their "kiosklitteratur", "tantporr" writing (not sure how to translate that, but kiosklitteratur is cheap books written with the distinct purpose of appealing to as many people as possible, tantporr is.. erotica written for older, prudish women and Bruce). The Witcher 3 feels like real writing where someone has put thought into the story, the characters, the dialogue and the general structure. They haven't tried to please everyone and some of the stuff you encounter is annoying, disturbing and frustrating. Just like it should be! Also, the white knights of the forum keeps bleating on about how nudity is not maturity. Well, I say it is, but not for the obvious reason (boobs). It's mature in the way that CD Project Red doesn't give a **** what you, the prude american audience or anyone else thinks. They've written the story and characters they wanted, regardless of current political trends. To me, that's a sign of maturity. I usually hate games where you're forced to have companions because they're so bad as to be distracting (all Bioware games). In The Witcher 3 I look forward to interacting with some of the characters! For me that is the highest accolade I can give to writing in a game. Tl;dr: Buy The Witcher 3. It's good. -

Love these completely unnecessary and passionate rants.
