I actually was ogling the PS3 Slim.. until they revealed that it's NOT getting a price cut in Sweden! The main importer of PS3's in Sweden wants more money so they're basically taking the price cut and sends it into their own pockets while letting the price remain the same for consumers. Great. I hear they have the same problem in Finland.

Feel free to sprinkle a little tech candy over us geeks who are actually interested! What is Onyx? Just a renderer? A renderer and a game engine? A complete package with asset tools and everything? Does it support DX10? DX11?! Does it support streaming maps? Does it do indoors and outdoors? Is it possible to implement vehicles (without rewriting it from scratch..)? Actually, tell us everything you're allowed to! BRAG!

Oohh, nice thread.. Ok, first I give you.. Gothic 3 Collector's Edition! There's supposed to be an amulet with a leather strap in there too, but my ex has it right now. The map is actually a cloth map, but they failed the print on the fabric so it's actually useless for gaming! The text is unreadable so you might as well use the map in-game. Then comes.. Ultima IX: Ascension! I couldn't find the Ankh.. maybe there never was one? I don't remember. Still, it has a usable cloth map. Why did they stop doing that? Prices have gone up by 400% since I bought it, but the actual value has dropped enormously. Now it's a .pdf file (if even that) on the DVD. Sigh. Last (because I got lazy).. is my Bioshock Collector's Edition! Yeah, I was too lazy to unwrap that dude. Those are my three favourites of my CE versions. I have a few others (GTA: San Andreas, Gothic 2 Gold, Silent Storm, etc.) but they're not as cool.

I still think it would be best to let those who specialize in tech do the tech so the game creators can do what they do best; design games.

The game has third person combat, thus it is going to be compared to other third person combat games. Saying that it's an RPG is NOT an excuse! If they've chosen to make the game real time with third person shooting mechanics, then I expect those mechanics to be top notch. Just as I expect my turn based isometric combat to be top notch when I play such a game. Combat is as much a part of the game in an RPG as it is in any other genre.

Wasteland.. or Gothic.. or Deus Ex..

But.. it looks so.. shiny!!! ... Actually, I just wanted to show off those two impressive videos and figured this would be a neat way.

Apparently Crytek has been hard at work trying to cram their CryEngine 3 onto consoles.. and they've done it. In an impressive way too. You remember how peeing was removed to please the American censors (in the land of the free yada yada)? Germans are weird.

The funny thing about the trolls is that they're one of the easiest enemies in the game! All you have to do is run in really close to it and then circle strafe around it while constantly poking it with your sword. Just make sure to stay behind his back. Trolls turn very slowly so you'll basically be continually backstabbing it. Or, since you're so small compared to them, buttstabbing them.

I'm hoping that each individual "level" (zone?) is big enough for me to get that exploratory feeling. But I wouldn't count on that either since they're using UE3 and have to keep the XBox 360 in mind everytime they design a map. 512 MB, INCLUDING the GPU RAM. Useless. To imagine that my video card alone has access to twice the RAM the entire Xbox 360/PS3 has.. Sigh.

I will say that our Achievements have much better names Yeah, let me see you beat that one. JUST TRY IT.

So Dragon Age has romances and Risen has a brothel? Guess which one I prefer.

Another review of Windows 7: http://www.engadget.com/2009/08/12/windows-7-review/ This one's pretty positive, but AGAIN, it seems as if all they ever do is sit around in the OS itself and only open generic windows (not applications) and has a hassle finding the right one after a while. This is where Windows 7 seems to shine. Not a word on speed, how much resources it takes, how it handles more specialized applications (yes, it runs Word.. great..). I work with Samplitude and drivers that haven't been updated since Windows 2000 was brand new. Works perfectly under XP Pro, returns a blue screen of death under Vista. How about Windows 7? And of course, gaming. I can play Daggerfall under XP. Vista can't even start the installer. How about Windows 7? I get 40-60 fps in STALKER: Clear Sky under XP and 20-30 fps in the same game, same settings under Vista (with constant chugging of the harddrive). How about Windows 7?

Two new gameplay videos, this time with two French dudes that never stop talking. Still the footage is interesting: First video shows some combat and some AI. Second video shows a harbour town and some quest dialogue and climbing.

None. All in Swedish and the latest news (only an hour old) is a text message from Sundin saying he hasn't decided anything yet. It's some friend of his that's talked to a sports reporter in my home town. They're usually very thorough and don't publish news unless they're correct so I don't know what to believe.
