I absolutely love this new trailer for Borderlands, one of my most anticipated RPG/FPS hybrids:

"87 gazillion types of weapons" :D
But were they really? There wasn't a world you could explore. There was an overland map where you could click on destinations and then the game let you watch a small dot crawl slowly across that immobile map until you either had a random encounter or ended up at your destination. You never really got to experience a world.
I actually think of the overland map in Fallout and Fallout 2 as more of a hub than an open world.
Fallout 3, on the other hand, was open world.
To my ears (eyes?) it sounds fantastic. And I enjoy difficult games! All Gothic games are difficult.
I can't wait for this to be released in English. Thanks for the updates though, Morgoth. Try not to spoil too much since I probably won't be able to stop myself from reading this thread.
No, I've won several contests and not a single one of the tens of suggestions for a custom title I've sent in has been approved by Fionavar.
...
There must be something wrong with Fionavar.
Small impression of Risen over at RPGamer: http://www.rpgamer.com/event/rtts2009/imp/.../risen-imp.html
It sounds like the shapeshifting magic that's always been a staple of the Gothic series is finally getting some good use. I've always wondered why they've never used it more in the previous games. Like when you could transform into a meatbug (the lowliest creature in the Gothic game).. why not make use of its diminutive size and let me crawl beneath locked doors and stuff? They've never really utilized shapeshifting in their quests and puzzles properly. Until now (I hope).
Does it beat the time when one unnamed moderator..ham censored a picture of a folded piece of paper? Who knew a piece of paper could be folded so wrong? Now that was dumb, this is nothing.
Tiny preview of the Xbox 360 version of Risen over at OXM: http://www.oxmonline.com/article/previews/m-r/risen
I really hope it sells on the Xbox 360 too..
Oh wow, this is GREAT news! PLEASE, some talented modder, release a higher resolution mod for Daggerfall! And if you're really talented, turn the software renderer into a hardware ditto. :D
Anyhow, still great news! Excellent game!
Apparently the international release date is set to October 2. Yay!
Anyhow, Piranha Bytes released a gif explaining exactly how dark the nights get in Risen:
I thought it was pretty funny..
And exactly WHAT is better about Windows 7 compared to XP?
Remember, XP is a mature OS by now, with relatively few bugs and security leaks (hrm). There are NO GPU's on the market that supports DirectX 11 and it's really not worth bothering with DirectX 10. Since XP is the de facto standard, you never have any compatibility problems either.
So, now.. tell me what the real advantages are for Windows 7 over XP?
