  1. That would work too. Did in Deus Ex. If it would make the game better, I'm all for it. Oh, so it's those little combat details that's making it "not Fallout" this time, is it. Not the fact that they've turned a 2D game with turn based combat into a 3D game with real-time and optional pseudo turn based combat. I get it now. Whining for whining's sake sure must be fun seeing as you do so much of it.
  2. Why are people so concerned with how they group the weapons? I wouldn't mind it if they grouped all weapons into a generic "combat" skill and got it over with. All I care for is more variety amongst the weapons themselves. Not one 10mm pistol as the only handgun, one Magnum as the only revolver and so on. Give me a choice! Give me more unique weapons! Let me mod my arsenal! That's all I care about.
  3. Haha, Rooney coming out of the trailer with a beard and a belly was awesome!
  4. I liked the metro tunnels. They were the only place in the entire game that challenged your sense of orientation. I like that. The only place in the game where you didn't have little arrows pointing you the right way. I find it funny that you guys whine about them so much.
  5. Why are you guys even responding to this? The real link to the Naga mouse looks like this: http://store.razerzone.com/store/razerusa/...goryId.37466100 The link the original poster is just one of those referral scams for this competition: <link removed> The more people that clicks, the higher are his chances of winning the stupid mouse. It's basically an ad.
  6. Eschalon: Book 2 Why is it that everytime you find a cool named weapon in any RPG, it's always of the type you have NOT trained?
  7. Still playing Eschalon: Book 2. I think it's funny. A board full of "tr00 roleplayers" whining 24/7 about how all games of today suck and everything was sooo much better 15 years ago when 2D ruled the realm (not by choice but by limitations.. a fact that the tr00 fans always seem to ignore). Then Eschalon is released. An homage to the 2D turn based games of old, and not a single soul on this board buys it. Despite it being excellent and presumably everything you whine about Fallout 3 (among others) missing. Oh well. Guess it's more fun to whine than to actually support the few games that do come forth. Anyhow, I gave up on my rogue build despite me nearing the end game (I think). It turned out the game is not balanced for a pure rogue build at all. For example, the regeneration rate of hitpoints is excruciatingly slow and there doesn't seem to be any equipment to mitigate this problem for a rogue (ring of regeneration, anyone?). That meant I had to waste skillpoints on Divination magic and attribute points on wisdom to get a healing spell. Also, darkness is a rogue's best friend.. or so I thought (I was actually building an assassin). Turns out that despite me wasting lots and lots of points in Moving Silently and Hide in Shadows, there's no point to it. There is no backstab skill or anything like that. You don't get any bonuses for attacking an enemy from behind. There's not even a bonus for attacking an unaware enemy! To top it all off.. you get a massive reduction to your ToHit stat if you can't see in darkness! Which rogues can't because a rogue doesn't have magic (Cat's Eye spell).. To make a long story short: my majestic assassin turned into a crappy jack-of-all-trades, so I restarted the game and built a fighter instead.
  8. Aha! American town view: European town view: (tip: load both images in different tabs or windows and then quickly switch between them to see the difference) Now that I see what they mean, I'm not so sure I like the washed-out European style
  9. 3 minutes without air, 3 days without water, 3 weeks without food. That's what they teach you in the military.
  10. Not for us PC only gamers
  11. Best. Commercial. Ever. Poor dead pigs
  12. I don't think they were unsuccessful in putting skills into San Andreas. In fact, I think the skills in San Andreas is a major part of why I think that's the best GTA to date. That and the gigantic world, of course. To me, it was immensely satisfying to notice improvements in my character after playing for a number of hours. I could run longer, I could bike faster (and not fall off as easily), I could drive cars better, I could shoot, reload and aim better and so on. I actually think those skills worked better than the skills in most RPG's! Mainly because after playing San Andreas for 100 hours, I still hadn't maxed out anything except the weapon skills. I still had improvements to make. In most RPG's, there's an upper limit to the skills you're advancing and you usually reach if pretty early in the game. Not so in San Andreas.

So.. I went 1-3 in the second round. But I always choose the team I would want to win in the second round, so no big surprise there. Problem is.. I don't care for any of the teams that are left. Guess I'll have to root for Montreal, since at least they're playing the role of the underdog that keeps winning.

That's insane. INSANE. IN THE BRAIN.
  16. So yeah.. I bought Eschalon: Book 2 and I tried starting the game.. The main title screen is really beautiful (although lockes at 1024x768 so I am playing it windowed). Much more refined than Book 1, that's for sure. I started a new game and.. I got stuck in a constant reroll! I've missed rerolling my character like some ADHD kid! I'm gonna sit here and sweat for a few hours before I actually get into the game. But it sure does look promising so far!
  17. Eschalon: Book 2 was released today! I just bought it and am downloading it now.. 13-14KB/s.. I'm guessing their servers are getting hammered by eager fans or something. If you didn't play the original Eschalon (Book 1), I can recommend it. It's extremely old school, but very charming and clever.
  18. So, I was out looking for more information about how perpendicular recording works in hard drives and found this: http://www.hitachigst.com/hdd/research/rec...rAnimation.html Hilarious.
  19. You guys are really naive if you think that you're safe because you're not big multiplayer fans. This is just the start. If this works as intended, prepare to see games in shops for like.. $5. But then you will need a code to activate the game ($60), if you want a full featured game ($10 extra), if you want all the "extra content" (that's peculiarly enough already on the disc..) $15 and so on. This is a test. If noone reacts, they will introduce it to every part of the business model.
  20. When you buy a used Ford, do you have to send a percentage of the money to Ford to get new keys so it'll start again? When you buy a second hand book, do you have to send money to the author because someone else read it before you? If you buy a movie someone else has seen before you, should the movie industry expect to be paid again too? Why on earth should games be any different? Why do game publishers expect to be paid several times for every single item they sell? The greed in this industry knows no limits. It's nauseating.
  21. Or maybe they're just lazy bums who think the whole payment part of the deal is too much trouble and instead opted to click ONE LINK to download it illegally. Just a thought.
  22. I would have loved a bit sillier things. Like a small jutebag full of (fake) Mojave desert sand.. or a flash memory stick shaped as a poker chip.. or rugged glow-in-the-dark anti-radiation stickers.. Just absolute crap as mood enhancers. It looks good though.
  23. Pro tip: http://www.pcdecrapifier.com/ Since you're getting a Dell, keep that link handy. You will want to use it when the computer arrives. (It also works for Lenovo, HP, Sony etc.)
  24. Yes, I can vouch for this system too. They've been using in in the Gothic series since 2001 and it's very instinctive, very audiovisual and it gives you a chance to at least avoid some enemies, if not all. I would vastly prefer this to being hunted by one hundred giant rad scorpions all over the wasteland.
  25. A while ago I heard it was going to be called Arcania: A Gothic Tale in North America and Gothic 4: Arcania in Europe (since Gothic is a fairly successful series in Europe but not NA). That might have changed now though.
