  1. I find myself going through 95% of the game without ever touching my heavy weapon. Then I unleash most of my heavy ammo on the thresher maw. It almost kills it in one shot if timed correctly at the start of the combat. Edit: That website with the save games is a blessing for us that lack the patience for ME1 As for DLC, I've no hurry. I have like 30 games that I've purchased recently from Gamersgate that I haven't played yet Mmh, they've been polling people about the heavy weapon system, so I think even Bio sees that it wasn't a complete success. The only place in the game where I routinely use a heavy weapon is the derelict Reaper, where I take off the 'boss' with a shot from Cain. I think Bio really messed up by making the Blackstorm Gamestop exclusive, as it's IMHO by far the best and most fun heavy weapon in the game. It's the one I carry on most missions and use it for fun, not so much for effect. Also, it's always entertaining to see the different approaches people have to gaming. I probably have purchased about 30 games in my whole life (and no, that doesn't mean I've played 'preview copies' of others, it just means I buy few games but have a tendency to get kind of passionate about them. Strangely, this seems to be somewhat reflective of my attitude towards women, as well).
  2. But there shouldn't be anyone behind you to "withdraw" with. You really need to chain charge enemies to get the most out of it. Charge one, kill him and as soon as you can, charge another. I've seen people take out the colossus with repeated charges. Charge, shoot, shoot, charge, repeat. As long as you keep charging, you'll keep getting your shields back and the effect of enemy fire will be minimized. True, true. I assume it's just a total playstyle incompatibility - as I seem to have hit on my niche on the first time with the Sentinel. Too bad that particular mission has the extra incentive to play on Hardcore+. Because the Colossus encounter has always called for the 'Indiana Jones' approach of slamming it with the Cain instead of starting to jump through all the extra hoops. 'You have these three routes, the first one has a lot of cover, but...' [renegade interrupt - Shepard pulls out the Cain and nukes the Colossus]... 'I don't have time for this!' Well, the planet scanning isn't that bad post-patch. It's still a useless time sink, but the time it takes to scan a planet is pretty trivial now. Doesn't feel so much of a chore, especially when you start with the replay bonuses The Overlord is decent, but I'd say LotSB is worth breaking all kinds of principles over. I'm pretty sure there will be a 'complete' set at some point (there's apparently one coming for DAO), but pretty sure it won't be until after ALL the DLC has been released. And that might be for a year, at least. :/
  3. Now you're just being racist. I can't remember the last time something non-female has gotten me agitated!
  4. This is not a question of what is right and wrong. This is a question of what is actually happening. If you think about it I think you will agree with me. I'm not sure what you're saying. Judges shouldn't be deciding what's rigtht and wrong, they should be deciding what conforms to the law. The legislators consider right and wrong when they pass the law. Yes, that would be the ideal case. However, a law that accounts for every specific situation is not practically or maybe even theoretically possible. Yet again you go back to talking about what judges "should" do. That is not what I am talking about. My point is that it's impossible to apply any set of laws without interpreting them. What would be the need of law schools if there was no need to interpret the law? If anyone could just look up their case in a book of laws, none of that would have been needed. Judges are forced to assert the truth of sometimes contradictory statements by people and apply the law in situations where the exact wording of the law leaves room for ambiguity all the time. Take a look at this article. Could you from that article determine the exact penalty for any given crime in the category? No, you cannot, and it is blatantly obvious. So assume this is not the first time someone is deemed guilty of the crime in question; you have the luxury of earlier penalties to guide your own judgement. Still, these are originally based on earlier judges' interpretations, and since no crime can be exactly the same to any other (not even theoretically), your judgement will be yet another interpretation to add to the list. This is not about the judges deciding what they want the law to mean, this is about it being THEORETICALLY AND PRACTICALLY IMPOSSIBLE to not interpret the law. For the record, that's what I was saying, as well. But since I have no grasp of the discussion, I guess that means you don't, either.
  5. I read the source, which refers to EA Montreal... Which are two different studios? :/ In fact, according to this: http://www.techvibes.com/blog/bioware-to-e...r-mass-effect-3 Bio Montreal has basically a skeleton crew. vs. EA Montreal Nope, the source clearly states Bio Montreal. They're hiring those people and you can read it on the Bio website. If by source, you mean the German article you linked to, I agree. If by source, you mean the (apparently now removed) cghub listings, I didn't see Bioware mentioned there either. I'm now looking at the postings on the Bioware page, and all I'm seeing are a bunch of Mass Effect related openings (just like yesterday). There's obviously some incredibly obvious site/page I'm missing, because this still doesn't seem to make an iota of sense to me.
  6. At this point, I started laughing so hard tears came from my eyes. Clearly, you have very little grasp of legal decision making as a process. I suggest you check it out - of course, I don't see you as somebody wanting to broaden their horizons, but... And you have very little grasp of what we're discussing here, or of the American constitutional law. Really? I thought I was following it quite well...
  7. ... Nope. More generally, I agree with Mkreku in that I've only run into language filters on American forums, but that could be due to a number of reasons in my case, such as differences in the types of forums, or Nordic liberalism. I also agree that there is a certain amount of Americanism in this obsession with removing "bad" language...
  8. http://www.widescreengamingforum.com/wiki/...winter_Nights_2 Sez you should just pick the correct resolution.

  10. I strongly suggest to give it a try, you just might like it. In my opinion it's easily the best rpg since Mask of the Betrayer. And I never quite got why people critizise the sex cards, they are basically the same as the completed romance achievements in Bio's games, they just come with nicely drawn pictures.. and nobody is forcing you to "collect" them. It's ok, I haven't played MotB either. I was really computer-challenged for, umm, ~4 years and have had something (barely) workable for only a couple of months now. I've come pretty consolified meanwhile, so simple control schemes are a must (so I can do it from the sofa)
  11. Yep. Sentinel is the new Vanguard, really. - shotgun, but I prefer the SMGs anyway. In fact, I think that the Battlemaster on Therum has killed me more times than any other encounter in the ME games. Collector platforms pt. 1 on ME2 has the record for most deaths on a single playthrough (on insanity)
  12. Hmpf. Now that I have the rig to run the first one, I still can't bear myself to overcome all the absurdity I've heard. Maybe I will, at some point.
  13. That thing must have stats in 3e Dungeons & Dragons...
  14. So the girly cards and slutty fantasy chicks are, after all, the real reason for playing Witcher?
  15. Well, it should be Withdraw then, shouldn't it? More seriously, though, I never felt that particular ability was worth the points. I found myself much better off engaging enemies at medium distances with the Locust and Inferno ammo, than closing in with the charge for shotgun kills.
  16. Sure it would. Then Valve'd be the only ones selling the games, not competing with somebody else. Somebody with no DRM, maybe?
  17. Mass Effect 3. Because, like, making new games is just so mid 1990s. Yeah, much better to end second game in a cliffhanger and then forget about the whole thing. Oh wait. No, Monte, I generally think quite highly of you, but now you're just being obtuse. I think their dullness is kind of emphasised by how chatty Samara's recruitment mission and Thane's loyalty are (nb. nothing against talky missions. They just seem to suffer from the Dragon Age verbal diarrhea conversation design. Mordin's loyalty is also quite talky, but I enjoy it immensely). And Samara and Thane both have Normandy 'talks' I can only describe as ponderous.
  18. There's nothing like running into a cute girl you semi-know, who's first reaction is to hug you. I think I look too safe or something. Even with the 1-week growth of beard (though I've noticed that a scruffy beard with business casuals tends to impress the ladies. Not sure why).

  20. As I'm sure we will all agree. Women are like buses. Crowded with smoking teenagers and covered in grafitti. I had a particularly misogynistic 'women are like' revelation last ~thursday, which I (un)happily seem to have forgotten during a three-day Mass Effect 2 binge. Seems to work as a reasonably good reset button, am actually feeling like working for the first time in months (the only problem is that I'm nodding off at the computer). Also checked out the stats in Finnish parliamentary elections, 67,9 % voted the last time... And here's the complete post-war stats: http://www.kansanvalta.fi/1168343287020 (number to the right of the cyan bar is the %).
  21. They already knew it was the most popular class. Also, I had hopped on to see if there were any good class suggestions for the second play-through, but I'm now inspired to play a soldier again. Sigh. I've played the game now twice as sentinel and once as infiltrator, vanguard and soldier. The order of 'fun' in my books would be Sentinel > Infiltrator > Soldier > Vanguard. And that's mostly because to me it seems like there's a critical design fault in vanguard, and whoever thought that Charge would be a good idea clearly doesn't have all their synapses firing (It's like soldier- with an optional suicide/get stuck in geometry button). The only thing I enjoyed when playing the soldier was the 'dumb fun' Revenant, which has an innate therapeutic quality none of the other weapons (well, apart from the Cain) has. Especially with the Locust, sentinels and infiltrators actually have some medium range teeth as well, and their ability set does add an occasional element of thinking into the game. I'm pretty sure that, had my first playthrough been on a soldier, I most definitely would not have finished the game five times in this time frame.
  22. I just played ME2 again last weekend. I have now played it more times than BG2. Mildly concerned by this development, but it's like crack to me. The more I play it, the more I think of Mordin's writing. And the more I am bored by Samara and Thane.
  23. Ah yes, the 'every game' conclusion drawn from a massive two (2) data points.
  24. This info has been out for over a year, no?
