  1. It's a bit ironic, really, since the main issue with the whole Yugoslav wars was that the West didn't give a ****, which is why the whole thing went on for way too long, and leading to a lot of unpleasant **** on all sides. While the Slovenians started building fridges.
  2. Awwww ...I don't care if it was ridiculous and unrealistic, if that term can even be applied to a game like this, it was fun. BOO. Actually, the official line was that it wasn't working as they'd intended, the body explosion threshold was bugging and wasn't getting set at the correct impact level. Which could be either true, or them just backtracking. I believe them, though, they've admitted other ****ups.
  3. EA's been running their own download portal for their own games so far, if they actually get other publishers on board, it might eventually cut down on the amount of programs you need. Traditionally, I believe that the Battlefields have been more "open" while CODs have been more on rails. I think the angle now is that with the Frostbite engine and destructible environments, Battlefield is going to be a bit more dynamic and AI driven over the heavily scripted "cinematic" COD.
  4. What he said. And as I alluded earlier, IGN is the fratboy page, the shooter mechanics are going to be highlighted for that site. And Gametrailers. The MOAR rpg is going to be brought up somewhere else. Have to admit I'm still a bit worried, but hey, I let other people be drama queens too.
  5. I'm sure the IGN target audience let out a fart of joy at that.
  6. Was out with a couple of school friends last night, sipped a bunch of nice single malts. Woke up feeling ok in the morning, discovered PSNstore was up, so grabbed the Naked City case I had the code for. (Was really good, and tied quite well into the story, so sucked not having it for the inital playthrough). Realised that the Rock Star Pass isn't up yet, so couldn't grab the other case, and as neither was the new DA2 patch, decided to go to work instead (national holiday). Now I'm sitting at the office, and got just hit by an epic delayed hang over. ****.
  7. It's actually pretty interesting to see what they are going to do with it. From the Neogaf thread, I think that face-scanning and star map navigation are the two most likely possibilities.
  8. Yeah, its the same thing that kept me with diablo from the sounds of it. Hangover gaming. Its so easy, and so mindless but somehow relaxing and none engaging that you can even play with an extreme hangover. I've now played LA Noire in both a food poisoning and a hangover, and I can confirm that it's also pretty good for that kind of stuff. I'd still wait for an "ultimate" of this one, this is one game that's going to have a lot of removed stuff slowly dribbled back in.
  9. There could be more that you just aren't aware of yet.

  11. The second and third scenes describe my day more than any words will The first one doesn't, since I've already decided to cut my losses and exit as fast as I can as soon as my dissertation is done. Which, considering I haven't done anything in two weeks, isn't getting any closer. Sigh.
  12. Monte is in denial about so many things, I often think that he's actually some undercover psychiatrist/anthropologist conducting experiments on these boards.
  13. Coz producers (project managers) probably have more say in storytelling? Having dedicated writers is mostly an RPG phenomenon, anyway, if you look at other genres most of the writing is done by people in the project management sector (I think the Force Unleasheds were a pretty good example of this). Besides, since they are talking about cinematics, cutscenes etc., it's more like asking the "movie director's" opinion over the "screenwriter's".
  14. Your e-mail being spoofed used to be a pretty sure sign of somebody who you've sent an e-mail to having creepycrawlies in their computer. I'm sure they've only advanced in the past 10 years or so since I first ran into that.
  15. Gassing civilians in movie theatres? (I admit I didn't watch it).
  16. Weren't dragons on the endangered species list in DA:O, having been hunted to extinction by Navarran dragon hunters or something to similar effect? Dragons were hunted to near-extinction hundreds of years before the current age. The current age is called Dragon Age, because they (more or less) suddenly reappeared at its beginning. So, dragons have been believed extinct for a while, but they are now coming back, and in possibly increasing numbers. Re Maric. He wasn't actually just from the line of kings, he was the only son (or grandson, a bit fuzzy here) of the monarch deposed by the Frogs. Ergo, rightful king, back on throne. But yes, there are enough similarities between the two to not have to resort to reductio ad absurdum in an attempt to find them.
  17. I love the way "leak" is used in conjuction with these pirate releases, kind of gives them an underground stick-it-up-to-the-man revolutionary credibility, doesn't it? (not really)
  18. Oh, we have the same thing going on here, as well. And we're on the most seismically stable region in the world. Classic case of turning people's attention away from real problems, of which we have plenty here in the euro zone.
  19. http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2011-05-...rking-on-2d-rpg I assume funcroc posted this already somewhere and I just missed it.
  20. Looks like what somebody wishlisting would make.
  21. I don't think they will, at least not for now. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if they used it in their bf3 marketing, since they are the ones playing catch-up. In terms of marketing yeah sure, they've not got the same kind of saturation. In terms of tech, they're well ahead. Which, I assume, was going to be the main prong of their marketing, until Activision kindly did half their thinking for them with the above announcement.
