  1. Maybe they'll have really hardcore, obscure, hipster dialogue options. Heart of Fury (Dialogue)... Dragon: "Bwahahahahaha I will toast you with my flaming breath!!!" Charname: "I think not!" Dragon: "Why?" Charname: "I dump-statted points into Charisma and Persuade, cuz I'm that cool!" Dragon: *dies* + 2000 XP CHARNAME:
  2. I have been called all sorts of things on this forum, but never a hipster.
  3. Like Gftd1, I occasionally detect the whiff of hipster bull**** about elements of PoE. This is one of them. Much of the game I like, but some of it I'm beginning to actively dislike. The idea that skilful use of dialogue skills to get XP is equitable to decent tactics against enemies is risible.
  4. This is one of those points where they veer away from the precursor games because they can. I don't like it.
  5. Third re-write of book. Third. I know I'll be ordered to do a fourth.
  6. Riddick... After the rather overblown Chronicles, they've tried to get back to Pitch Black territory with this one. Riddick leaves the Necromongers and is cast adrift on a hostile planet. Then some bounty hunters come to catch him and we end up deep in Aliens / Predator territory. I love Vin Diesel as much as the next geekoid pulp movie fan, but this was pretty uninspiring given what you could do with the Riddick character IMO. A sort of meh-tastic 6/10, and that's only for some of the action sequences.
  7. I'm not a 'British Nationalist.' Cut it anyway you like, but in the UK that's a pretty loaded term. I'm mildly patriotic and get pissed off with chippy-former-colonials occasionally. That doesn't make me a nationalist. Then again, I'd rather be a nationalist than a no-nation commie or a globalization smoothie. Edit: as for the Congress of Vienna - a crude analogy but the post-WW2 settlement brought peace among the great powers. Yet we still had lots and lots of wars from Korea to Vietnam to Iraq 1 & 2.
  8. I'm now reading some strange **** about monks and forbidden prophecies and it ain't Dan Brown.
  9. She's also bi-sexual, is Texan and likes guns. Poor old Johnny Depp, eh?
  10. In BG2 you got XP for all sorts of things, including killing monsters. Ditto the IWD games. Despite what the Planescape fans might think, PoE is primarily a combat / exploration CRPG. To suggest non-quest XP is 'grinding' is a bit of a strawman. You might get token XP, but the idea that it's quest only is a disappointment to me.
  11. Company of Heroes 2 is free to play all weekend on Steam, and all the DLC commanders are unlocked too. If you are interested send me a PM and I shall feast on fresh meat.
  12. You correct of course and you forgetting to mention the fact we have you to point out our intellectual impotence and lack of ability to have debates to your level of mental stimulation...but Monte we are striving and trying to reach your level....be patient ...don't abandon us ... I shall try my best to tolerate you. In other news, here's Putin setting his Intolerable Bigot dial to ten... http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-25785161
  13. Is that confirmed? If so Sawyer slipped that under the radar. A lot of us hate the idea.
  14. Careful, Oby, you're over-egging the troll pudding. The syntax slipped there.
  15. Of course not.
  16. BG!: Melincamp and the chicken saga. The self-destructing ogre. The sexist evil fighter chick.
  17. I think it's awesome you can tinker with the options. For example, I'll use a lot of the combat ones but leave the 'story' ones alone. Then I'll do a trial of iron for the lulz after my first run through.
  18. Ha ha ha (totally safe for work) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WWnV5-PzqMQ
  19. I agree, but seeing as that sounds a little too much like my r/l day-job I have to play something different for a break.
  20. If you could mash up PoE, Assault Squad 2 and The Division then I reckon I'd be pretty much done for the rest of my gaming life. HTF would you do it?
  21. Yeah, why not go for a druid? I bet there won't be many druid NPCs whereas Ciphers are already madly popular on the forums.
  22. The Marxist interpretation of WW1 is as crude as the jingoistic one. Top-hatted imperialists from Krupps et. al smoking cigars as the working man dies in his millions to feed the imperialistic war machine, an inevitable consequence of capitalism. Please, pass the bucket. The post Congress of Vienna Great Powers system kept Europe at peace for a hundred years, no mean feet. It collapsed, sure, and industrialization / imperialism of those powers is part of the reason why it collapsed (in much the same way as globalisation and comms tech is destroying the current Great Powers system). It's not the only reason. Not by a long shot. German aggression started WW1. Bellicose backing of the Austro-Hungarian fringe was part of an expansionist mindset. Blame Bismarck, blame the Kaisers, blame dreadnought ****-envy, but this is unambiguously also part of the story. And then we have August 1914 and a 19th century war fought by 19th century generals but with 20th century technology. Add the tinder-box of Russia in 1917 and the stage was set for the apocalypse (lit by the Germans when they sent the bacilli of Communism back into Russia via the Finland Station). All we are hearing in this thread is a lazy, binary analysis. It's beneath the level of intelligence of the majority of people on this forum.
