The Case for Romance.
Monte Carlo replied to NanoPaladin's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Bruce is there any computer game character you haven't tried to nail? Is there a Kobold in faraway Nashkel wondering why you don't call any more? -

But, and this is important for the sound team, what does the fox say? -

I know we are OT but comparing SoZ and MotB is a bit apples and oranges. As Indira points out, it was Obz showing off all the different things they could do with one game and one engine. Very clever. Also, SoZ is a bit like IWD2... an engine nearing the end of it's life cycle being McGuyvered into doing something awesome for "one last job." -
I never whine. I lobby. Sometimes I'm strident, sometimes I'm not. Why would I try to argue for things I don't want to see. The idea that Obsidian's writers would take much notice of me is risible. They might if my voice is one of many, which is why I post. You, sir, are rather rude. I'll get over it.

are you perchance white and middle-class? Ha ha ha. Yes and No. I bet you are, though. Interesting how your binary metrics work though when it comes to identity. What if I told you I was Jewish and born in a slum but dragged myself up by my boot-straps? What if I told you I'm not very interested in being put into a box constricted by a third party distinction of what's important? What if I told you I spent years in a job interfacing with the most vulnerable people in society and simply wanted to play a game with dragons and swords without having to worry about this kind of stuff? Eh? Edit: Can you hear violins in the background?

I've got the Steam uber-platinum edition of DA:O (it was literally pennies) and I have to say I've had no problems with it, stable as anything, no DLC problems.

It's not semantics, Bruce. It's a fact. Once upon a time Trolls were jokers, pranksters and (sometimes mean-spirited) baiters. Although the word Troll now means online idiot it wasn't always so.
-
As others have said, the true meaning of trolling has been lost. It now means 'person I don't agree with' or 'person who just urinated in my rainbow-flakes.' Whereas a decent troll is an asset to an online community and would never need to resort to being vile.

Death Machine, I cringed when I read the interview where it was proclaimed that Obsidian would direct it's fell gaze upon issues of class and race. I still think it's extraneous. If it's too earnest and predictably left-wing I'll just laugh at it and try to be as 'evil' as possible. Hopefully it will be confined to some emo, woe-is-me NPCs I can ignore.

Promancers have to pick at the scab* It's unrequited love, I guess. Which is, in itself, romantic. * I Know. I know. -
I thought Sawyer ruined that by allowing Priests to use swords? Wow. D minus. Write a hundred times 'KP MUST TRY HARDER.'

what is your worst rpg game ever played?
Monte Carlo replied to darthdraken's topic in Computer and Console
RPGNet's Pen and Paper worst RPGs ever, with an explanation of the Pure Evil that was F.A.T.A.L. http://wiki.rpg.net/index.php/Worst_RPGs_ever Don't try any of this at home. Seriously. NSFW and get ready to fail your Sanity Check. -
I'm trying to get into FarCry3 but dammit I hate playing a PC game with an XBox controller. And I suck at WASD too. I think it's a title I should have picked up on console but it looks like fun so will persevere. Apart from that lots of Company of Heroes 2 and a shed-load of Baldur's gate. My Barbarian has defeated Sarevok, achieved level 11 and is now tooling around Athkatla looking for phat lewt.

Point-slightly-not-found I'm won't cut my nose off to spite my face - if it's a good CRPG I'll pick it up. Probably on my PS4, in fact. But if there's too much fan-service and core 'Biowarianism' on display, it's not as if there's a shortage of decent games to play is there? I'm a strategy and RTS gamer too, plus I'm pretty excited about new genres (for me) like The Division and Titanfall. I'm also an ARPG player -the new Diablo XP looks good, as does Grim Dawn etc. So my expectations are high, and if not met, won't overly concern me. OTOH if DA3 gets good reviews from gamers I trust I'll be all over it. But I don't trust a single word Bioware says about their games. They are epic mongers of hyperbole about their titles and, indeed, their content. They will paint game 'A' as game 'B' and I've been burnt before. So we'll see. And of course there's PoE.

I've just bought this Dragon-Age add-on... http://www.matchesandmatrimony.com/ -
Things have changed since this thread started. ISIS are so bat-guano crazy they've been more or less kicked out of that model of restraint, Al Qaeda. That's right - a terrorist organisation so violent it gets expelled from the mother-ship of spite! Jabhat is now the AQ analogue du jour. Now the peace conference that-was-always-going-to-fail has failed (although I'm sure the conference planners made a few bucks) the region can descend into properly nihilistic self-destruction, making Syria a festering canker of destabilization and an exporter of terror. And just to think, just as I was leaving university some dude was declaring 'The End of History.' *does laugh just like Muttley*
