  1. nobody is. you can't translate literally without damaging the language you are translating to - that's the balance and what makes a good localization. I'm well aware of the second part and I agree, but... I've actually been in a lot of debates regarding that issue. There ARE people around that seem to think you're performing a crime against the original product if you don't translate everything literary. The reason why I only play in english nowadays. The german translations are jumping just too much between "big shait" and "good"- with big shait often being in the majority. Also the voice over often is really bad. Just remembering New Vegas right now, german translation *and* voice work was so god damn bad. Impossible to play in german, imo. Besides, it is good for the own english skills to play it in english. :>
  2. There is no other forum I am aware of. So yeah. Most likely.
  3. To me, Borderlands was even in coop boring. Mainly because of the fetch quests you have to do all the time. Run from point A to B and back, kill 10 of stuff, collect 20 of stuff, etc. This is so lower bottom, I just can't take it anymore.
  4. Felicia Day should do all sounds in the game with her voice. Like opening a door or chest, walking over pavement, swinging a sword, etc.
  5. 3gb ram, Intel Core 2 Due E6400, GeForce GTX 560 TI. Running the game with maximum graphic settings (well, except huge megatextures) + the console commands and it looks good and runs 100% smooth.
  6. I don't think that this will ever change... except if you get some new high-tech hardware.
  7. Have they finally fixed all the technical issues for good? I still had to use console commands to increase texture loading speed. Finished FTL now with the osprey ship. Damn, this game really needs more sectors. Or at least one should be able to port over the crew to the next ship. Always when I start feeling attached to my ship and my crew the game is over already.
  8. I was replaying Rage some weeks ago. Was my second playthrough and I have to say that I liked the game a lot more this time. I'll probably just had way too high expectations the first time and that's why I got disappointed. Except the ending, my second playthrough felt pretty good.
  9. I would like it to be longer as well. Usually the game ends as soon as I got really attached to my ship and crew. There should be an option to take over your stuff to the next ship or they should double the sectors to the target, imo.
  10. I didn't assumed it. Rage / Borderlands aren't RPGs either. In fact, I came to dialog simply because of the Bethesda comment on the last page. /Edit: By the way, just because a game has interactive dialog, it doesn't make it an RPG.
  11. It was about dialog. PC talking to NPCs and NPCs talking to PC. And Gordon doesn't talk. How should a real dialog with him look like? "Hey Gordon, you got any idea what's up next for us?" *You wave your hand* *In a brief moment of silence, you look into the distance* *You clap your hands* - "That's exactly what I thought, Gordon!" The only way I could imagine a "open world" type of game with a character who doesn't speak would be Rage or Borderlands. People talk to you, give you jobs, but you never answer them. And that's hardly a dialog.
  12. Sadly, I can't go higher than my current $281 pledge. That's as much as I could put in, because that's all I have on my card right now, heh.
  13. Yeah, but it is not dialog where you are actively switching topics and stuff. These are scripted (cinematic) sequences. That's really not the same, especially if you are writing them. Especially because Gordon doesn't talk, so you are limited to such sequences anyway.
  14. Heh, because Gordon talks so much.
  15. EDIT: You can read Obsidian's comments here (just keep scrolling down for September 18th comments starting with "@Steven" for the initial comment and then scroll up to a comment addressed with "@fredgiblet" to see the comment I quoted above). To see it in context, you're going to have to look through the comments of the kickstarter page. Please. He was obviously either contacted by the publisher after this story got featured on sites like Kotaku with an angry "you TOLD them what I SAID???" or figured he'd voluntarily do some light damage control before he got an angry statement like that. If I were CEO of a company I wouldn't be in a huge rush to burn bridges either. The forseeable future might not have them needing to use the services of said publisher, but who knows what the case will be 5 years down the road? No he was not. The follow up comment came short after his first publisher-comment. News sites could have posted that one too- but they didn't because they didn't do research. They just took what people discussed on the forum and pressed the panic button. Gaming "journalists" - probably the worst kind of journalist in the world. Same with Notch from Mojang. He posts something on twitter and a second later the whole internet is abuzz and lives in unreal-world. Just lol.
  16. Wasn't Morrowind for Oblivion shot down by Bethesda? I don't see them allowing Morrowind to Skyrim then.
  17. Half-LifeĀ³ open world would just be the next step in the evolution of Bethesda RPGs. Getting rid of all that annoying dialog and filler stuff, going over straight to the combat.
  18. You need to know the game and the english language. :>
  19. I so much hope it won't be a 50 hours game. I probably will never finish it then, looking at the amount of my spare time. I am fine with 20 hours, especially if there will be a lot choice&consequences involved. The scale of Fallout 1 would be super fine for me too. Yeah, actually, I totally prefer a size of Fallout 1.
  20. Well, you always need steam to install / run the game. On GOG, you download it and be done unless you have to redownload the setup file because of whatever reason. Forum badges most likely not before the ks is completed.
  21. They said they would like to do it, but only if it wouldn't hinder the progress of the singleplayer in any kind of way. So yeah, if they get lots of money, the chance increases. I personally don't need a multiplayer modus, unless the game is extremely hack&slay, which I find boring to do alone.
  22. Wait, is the beta key only for $140? What about the $250+? Coz I'd like to get a beta key too. :>
  23. Doubt they'd even contemplate something like that. It would kill a lot of goodwill, and Kickstarter campaigns run on that. Yup. But technically it is a possibility.
  24. Then again, there is nothing that prevents Obsidian from doing "pre-order dlc" and stuff with Gamestop or at least trying. You don't need to be a publisher to get such stuff.
