You scumbag! Heh, probably true, although I think it'd have ended up that way regardless, companies love lock in after all. Kind of ironic that we'll be going back to that in that case.

Got my project done, and am enjoying that post-alpha bliss where it works for the dev tests but probably is broken in horrendous ways. Still though, this feeling is good, rather disturbingly happy at the moment. Now off to the office Christmas party.

I suppose if you can lengthen the time to it takes break it, you might get really impatient people that'd buy rather than wait for the release. Not sure how large a segment that is though, but it is something DRM can do. Outside of cases like Drive or AC:R, heh.

Steam's done pretty well in Russia, from Newell anyway, so I guess DRM that people don't really notice as DRM can work. Well, it's expected.

I'd wager most of the mocking and "poo flinging" comes from their legitimate customers rather than they do from those evil, subhuman people downloading stuff over torrents, Usenet, etc. or the groups making the releases, though. As an aside, similar situation with my company's product. Wouldn't work to pirate it anyway, although there is a joke about our clients being institutional crooks in the first place, heh.

I recall the OUTRAGE* on the BioWare boards when pirates were able to play ME 2 before the release date. *To be sure, people are outraged there constantly. Heh, I didn't know ME2 got leaked that early. One good thing about Steam I suppose, those are always cracked after release so you don't end up in that kind of situation. As for the harsh language about people pirating games, it's pretty amusing

Rather interesting day to start, exit the elevator and there's some dude standing RIGHT in front of the doors, he's just stepping in before I can get out. So ended up bumping him a fair bit with his coffee in his hand, heh. Either some people storming the elevators or people that walk out and then stop gazing around in bewilderment At least it's sunny outside!

Nope he didn't, more of a rejection of a "well it could be worse" I guess. How did DRM messing with your playing get compared to losing a limb anyway. Although, some company losing theoretical sums of money due to piracy isn't that bad, when you think of it that way. Christmas party nearing so have to pick somethings from the menu, assuming we order from the normal menu and don't get some crap picked by the manager. Have a nice dish of ribs, one of the most expensive there too, heh. Generally a lousy day, overall though, haven't seen the sun in 3-4 days.

I'm averaging 3 or 4 a year. This year the majority has been stuff from GOG, heh.
