  1. Always best to look at worst case for things? Damn bandwidth caps, have to make sure I keep 8 or so unused by the 24-25th
  2. Hm maybe, have got good results out of bashing a cousin with the edge. Baseball bat would probably hurt more, I guess.
  3. I'd have thought they'd have used cricket bats, wonder which one is more damaging.
  4. Duggan apparently did not shoot at the police - http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/2011/aug/09/m...gan-police-ipcc
  5. http://worldblog.msnbc.msn.com/_news/2011/...ind-london-riot Well "riot is the rhyme of the unheard" as the song goes. Largely I suspect that's a load of BS in this case anyway.
  6. I wouldn't say they're subdued. Sure they don't have psycho ultras like in Italy or Brazil, but there's still the usual "hurl abuse at opposing fans' type of thing. And they riot in the playoffs when they win
  7. Well they have marching season and other things in NI, and they've had the G20. So not the exact same kind of riot, but not so different that the individual officers have no idea of what to do. Police haven't been using any gas, water cannons or rubber bullets yet, so there's still that for them to try.
  8. In that case, just get riot police who are trained and are accustomed to using that kind of gear and type of work. The motivation for calling for the military I sense from the ones I've heard calling for it is just to escalate the force or threat of force.
  9. Yeah, they definitely need to pull them back from Afghanistan for this. They put some soldiers on the street, then all some idiot needs to do is make a sound like a gunshot.
  10. Despite not having heard the song in years can't get "Blue Suede Shoes" out of my head. Odd, but another day of working while listening to riot coverage as dull as it is.
  11. The official forums must be lapping that up, heh.
  12. Oh nice they spoke to Farage of the UKIP, heh. Bring in the army "under police command".
  13. Was funny to hear on that BBC feed "COBRA will be meeting today.."
  14. Well by now, that's money already spent no ? There's still a fair chunk to be spent before the Olympics lands.. and more to be spent during the Olympics.... Ahhh ok. Had thought the majority of it would have been sunk in by work done or contracts. Well, IOC says London is safe for the games (once they deploy all those guards and soldiers). Reminds me, our city has a $700 million deficit and hosting the Pan-Am games in 4 years.
  15. Well by now, that's money already spent no ?
  16. Luckily for them RIM will never turn over data to a governmental agency. Maybe this'll die down once football season starts this weekend ?
  17. You really think that ?
  18. We'll just need an Adblock for our games - course that'll get labelled as piracy long enough . Still, eye-roll inducing to see that though as it's a bit tacky to see in a game you've paid for, heh, but companies are what they are. Swedish PCG gave it 94%, blah blah as good as the original, boss fights suck, etc.
  19. Well, they know how to riot, not like those wussies in Vancouver and TO Still, interesting to hear the police can't use rubber bullets or tear gas without the Home Secretary's direction ?

  21. Well was commenting on the pamphlet. I like the bit about the weapons.
  22. Wow.. that's just great.
  23. Conform, damn you!
  24. Well, was the "bottom feeder" doing anything wrong ? At least the cops have balls over there to meet the violent ones somewhat, here in Toronto during the G20, the cops ignored the violent folk then went and roughed up peaceful people or kettled them, heh.
  25. Well those lot already have predicted IGN will hate it as it's written for low-brow peasant gamers, doubt it'd get a rise from them.
